Hey everybody. Just recently I've started getting back into Street Fighter. An internet buddy of mine gave me this site and said this is the place he goes to for meeting up with Street Fighter players around his area. I'd like to meet hardcore Street Fighter players like myself around. Made me think of my glory days of this game and how much fun it was. If you're from any of these cities: Richmond, Mechanicsville, Ashland, Glen Allen, Chesterfield, Midlothian, please hit me up.

I don't think anyone serious plays in Richmond plays anymore, which is kinda sad. Some good players came out of RVA. Moose doesn't play, but Robin is still around. He lives in RVA and sets up monthly tourney's in NOVA at a LAN cafe called c3.

Also I would just like to add that Richmond sucks ass as a city, I've lived here most of my life, we've got nothing, and what we do have closes at like 7PM (9 if you're lucky.) There's like one arcade here, it has Tekken 5... (I've never been to the one in VCU, that MIGHT still have some fighters....) and if I ever do wander in to VCC on a saturday afternoon to play T5 there's nobody in there.

Screw going to NOVA, I know there's good competition there but I ain't driving 2 hours in unbelievable traffic to get some competition, not when I know there's people here.

Well, I'll play anything with the exception of MVC and SC.

But I'm probably only worth a damn competitively in A3, T5, CVS2, 3s, SS, and most KOFs, in that order. I'd be glad to play some GG but I wouldn't expect to win, especially not against people who take it seriously enough to have GG avatars like a lot of the VA people seem to have. I also love some Last Blade 2 and Rival Schools but I can't really use the Dreamcast controller and I don't have a stick or adapter for it.

Well, this thread has accomplished something, lets see if anymore from around the area will join.

I'm creating this thread for a couple reasons. One, we seem to be an entity seperate from MD/VA area. Two, we got some new players (me, charged, maybe others?) Three, that other seven cities thread sucks and is dead.

I see potential in this area. Seven Cities has a decent arcade (Play Around Golf in Newport News) with three major games, 3s, TekkenDR, and Marvel and we have a good ammount of players. RVA, has good players, Robin, Moose (when he plays) and is not too far from us. Now, if we communicate more and set up days of the month to gather, the whole scene can advance in skill level. In short, Seven Cities and RVA in general needs to unify and become more of a scene instead of just a collection of players. We need atleast Monthlies at Play Around, someone's house, where ever...). Charged and I have been talking about doing this, but we don't know too many really involved in the scene down here. I will invest my time into making this scene what it can be.

Also, I'm willing to teach anybody any game. I can help most with 3s, as it is my main and I know that people have become interested. I've been playing 3s with Syberninja, SMP, and Video but I know there are more of you closet 3s fans out there. I also play ST, CVS2, and GGXX/. Just hit me up on aim (spammination) and we'll set something up.

So anyway, post up players! Seriously, introduce yourselves, OGs and newbies alike.

big dave asked me for the losers finals but unfortunately they werent taped b/c the tape onlyhad enough tape left for the grand finals so we had to not tape losers in hopes to have enough for the grand finals and we did with 1 minute to spare on the tape lol

I was actually at Lynnhaven mall this past Saturday and they had signs posted for their MVC2 tourney.

As far as the 3s tourney, I actually went to that Gamestop today(it's NOT the one in the mall) to confirm since I was in the area.

There is NO ENTRY FEE.
It will be this Saturday 2pm.

I was getting more info from the guy and he was telling me if enough people show up they will consider doing these monthly or perhaps twice a month. The manager there doesn't think anyone will show up so I say let's prove him WRONG.

I am definitely going to be there.

I already told a couple people and I got 3 more to go with me. (albeit not tourney worthy but they love street fighter so its all good)

yeah what randumbcat said, there is a mvc2 tournament at the EB games in lynnhaven mall april 14th. Free, no entry fee, I don't think they know what the prize is yet, they said it depends on how many people show. I have a really close friend that works there so I'm going to try my best to make sure this tourney is run right, like best of 3, double elim, character changing, glitches, etc. but no guarantees.

The sweet part about it is that they got a full version mvc2 on their demo ps3, so you can just go up there anytime and pwn noobs all day for free :badboy: But the part that sucks is that their ps3 doesnt have a hard drive so it can't save all the characters, so everyday it starts out fresh and people just play all day and unlock people. whack, i know. but at least you can hold it down with some strider/doom/psy or something :rofl: my friend said mvc2 will be in the demo ps3 from now till the tournament. So hit me up if you tryin to get some games in, ill try to be there.

Yea I wanna get back in touch with him. A friend of mine used to live on the same floor as him in the high rise apartments off of Granby (near Mi Hogar) and we went over to his place a few times so he could whoop up on us. That was at least 2 years ago though...I doubt he still lives there.

They have a ps2 hooked up now with marvel instead of using the ps3 so they got all the characters. I don't know if yall already knew this, but theres a big difference playing marvel on ps2 than on ps3. ps2 is way better. kinda like how the dreamcast version is way better than ps2. ps3 lags for some reason, like i can't even consistantly do air combos and stuff. i didnt for sure noticethat that was the reason i kept messing them up till they switched it over to ps2. i think it lags cuz of the type of screen that they hook it up to or something. i have no idea. But whatever, ps2 pad sucks anyways.

c3 is the monthly tourneys we've been having in Northern VA for about a year now.

The biggest turnouts are for 3S, GGXX/, and SSBM, but we also get tourneys for cvs2, a3, ST, and even mvc2 once in a blue moon.

SN, I understand if you can't really throw it any other date, but... what's the harm in waiting? I posted mine two weeks ago.

I just don't think people will go to both. Esp the tekken players.

So my game sits stagnant for the past 3 or so years and this kid I skim with says he is the shit at Marvel. So I'm like yeah w/e, he's prolly garbage like everyone who says they're good and play on PS2 vs. their brother or something. So this year a MVC2 machine shows up at the Flipper McCoys on 22nd at the Oceanfront, yeah I know random. So turns out he's actually not that bad, we mess around and go roughly 50/50 sometimes before he goes to work or before a night out at the bar. We're getting tired of only playing vs. each other though, so more people should show up and raise the competition a bit. Post here or something if you're interested, if enough people start showing up and it looks profitable my friend could probably talk the owner into running tourneys, he already talked him into putting the machine up front by the pool tables instead of way in the back where it was previously hiding. Theres also a Tekken 3 or 4 machine (don't remember don't care) and old school Street Fighter 2 Champ Turbo or something and of course DDR if that's ummm your scene. The added bonus of course being once you finish playing for the night you are right on the strip and it's bar time for the next 7 blocks. Seriously a tourney is prolly not out of the question if enough people were to show interest here, like I said my friend knows the guy who runs shit. Late.

yo, i went by there today. the sticks and buttons are great, probably the best 8ways ive ever played on. but the damage is is set too high, and the time is too fast. you need to get your friend to tell the manager to fix that. other than that, i like that machine. lemme know if those settings ever get fixed, then we'll try to set something up.

yeah im sure that damage is too high, i'd say like 1 tick too high. cuz id be killing charaters with like 1 sentinel HSF combo and stuff. and yeah the time is noticeably too fast, probably 1 tick too fast too. it probably cuz the defaults on the machine are wrong, and the machine is set on default. this happened at greenbrier back in the day, for some reason the defaults on the machine were way too high.

OK good news guys, we got the Flipper McCoy's at the oceanfront (at Atlantic Ave. and 23rd street) to reset the time/damage on their Marvel vs. Capsom 2 machine to default today. Now I expect people to come up there and play us. Around 6PM Thursday me and my stick dude will roll up there if anyone wants to throw down. Yeah Hatteras is in my county but its about 30 minutes to an hour away. Hatteras the town or the area, because most people refer to everything after the bridge as Hatteras. There are two arcades south of the bridge, on in Buxton and one in Roadanthe. Both suck, no fighting games so don't bother even going. I can play 3S though, just PM me when your on your way we'll get some games in.
