Sup fellas,
My laptop has been down becuase of a virus for 3 months now. I finally got a copy of window 2000 and got it back to the way it came but it looks outdated now. My questions are:

1. Is there a difference between windows 2000 and windows 2000 NT?
2. I was able to connect wirelessly before but since I installed 2000, I don't see that function anymore. If I get a copy of windows XP, will my wireless function be available again.
3. Should I be trying to use anything else other than windows xp?

Thanks for the help guys. I would really appreciate the support

1) Windows 2000 and XP are built on NT technology (XP advances the technology). There is no such thing as "2000 NT", or rather they would be one in the same, from a semantics standpoint. 2000 does not have built-in wireless support. You will need to get the wireless utility from the laptop manufacturer's web site (under driver downloads for your particular laptop).

2) XP does have built-in wireless support, so if you prefer the XP interface, then re-installing XP on the system would give you that interface.

3) Don't know exactly what you're asking here, but there is always linux, if your asking about different OS options. If your laptop is 64-bit, then you can always go with XP x64, as well.

Thanks NoAffinity I really appreciate the information you just gave me. I just got xp and I'm considering this "Linux" progam. I looked around and saw that Linux lets you have cool looking desktop that are 3D and stuff like that. Do you or anyone else recommend getting Linux? If so which version?

Ok 1 more thing. Since I installed xp, I can't get 256 color display :(. It only allows me to use 16-bit. This is horrible. I'm searching for driver's right now and I did an automatic update but I still don't have the function. I'm sort of clueless to what I need to do to fix this. Thanks.
