So what Movies, Games, Music, TV, ect. have you seen scenes that pays homage to Fighting Games and/or its characters like Street Fighter, KOF, Mortal Kombat, ect.
This is my fav.

40 Year Old Virgin - the main character had SF figures in the background of his apartment.
Shrek 2 - Princess Fiona Spinning Bird Kick ending with a Shoryuken
Family Guy - Peter mentions SF characters not remembering the name of his kids!
Don't Be a Menace to South Central - Marlon Wayans is playing a game called "Gang Fighter" in the liquor store!

In 40 Year Old Virgin they were also playing MK: DA (or was it Deception?)
Ummm...in The Cable Guy Jim Carrey mentions you can "play Mortal Kombat with your friend in Vietnam"
There was this old episode of The X-Files where the main character of the episode was this kid who was really good at Virtua Fighter 2 in this arcade (w/ cameo by Jack Black)
Going back further, I remember this episode of Baywatch where David Hasselhoff's son in the show would keep going to this liquor store to play SF II...heh that brings back memories for myself actually.

LoL! I actually have this movie back home on VHS. After I got it around '94, I'd watch that SF segment almost every day. Sure brings back memories...
As for the topic, then every time I hear "are you ok?" in a movie, it reminds me of Terry
No but seriously, in the J-drama "Densha Otoko" the hero is shown playing Alpha3 in an arcade, as well as having several SF action figures in his room. But I don't know if this counts as pop culture!

That clip is old as sin, but it's still awesome.
Ken with his god priority kicks and no recovery shoryuken.
Ken turning around, going "oh shit" and then hearing the Guile theme play is one of the greatest moments ever.

They were playing MK Deception in The 40 Year-Old Virgin. The titular dude also had a Terry Bogard doll in addition to the SF figurines.

Reminds of me Genshiken, where a GGXX clip was played, and one of the characters actually cosplays Jam.

In The pacifier (that vin Diesel movie) he hears a machine gun in the house and runs downstairs to see the little girl playing MK Trilogy (shes in Cyrax's Desert and I believe that she's Motaro) anyway the only sounds coming from the screen are machine gun blasts
Also in that movie when he falls in a ball pit you can see an MK Arcade Machine( I forget which one but it has the MK Dragon with a fire backdrop MKT right? but I could swear that was a console release)
And in that Reese Witherspon/Marky Mark movie there's a quick scene where her and her younger bro rock SSF2 they are on Fei long's stage and I could swear the match is T Hawk vs Blanka, but as she gets up in the middle of the match her character is magically controlled by the CPU (ohhh you were faking it!)
That's all I got right now, I'm sure I'll remember more useless crap from bad movies later on.

If no one's mentioned it yet...in the early 90's movie Juice (featuring Tupac and some other black people) there's a scene where the guys are playing the original Street Fighter game.
There was this old episode of The X-Files where the main character of the episode was this kid who was really good at Virtua Fighter 2 in this arcade (w/ cameo by Jack Black)
I remember that. My dad told me about it and I came downstairs to watch. Had Sarah's theme in the background. VF2 had some good tunes.

Protoculture is about as fighting game based a song gets. Dude used Morrigan's win theme as a beat, and he spends half the time talking about Rival Schools. Hell, he even mentions Psychic Force. That's about as obscure as you get from a well known artist.

There's actually a reggaeton song (ugh) called "Atrevete te te" that mentions Street Fighter in the lyrics. You have to know Spanish to get it, though.
And I was watching this Mexican version of American Idol a year ago, and one of the contestants was having a pillow fight with the rest of the cast, and he was clearly shouting out "SONIC BOOM!" and "HADOKEN!". Good times....

You were right when saying Bishop (2Pac) was playing against another guy (Steel). When the cops rushed in, Bishop ran out while Steel kept playing
Before that, Steel was playing against a girl. Since he beat her, he was expecting his kiss until she put another dollar in his face.

SF is seen in a shitload of "hood movies" Menace, Juice, etc.

Nah, I noticed that myself too. I hate when the ppl front like they're playing a game in a movie. I don't even wanna get started on sitcoms.

This is a fun thread.
-Bloodsport: Karate Champs (?)
-Shaun of the Dead: They talked about playing Tekken all night
My fav was when I went to the Irvine Spectrum (Southern CA) comedy club to watch Damon Wayans' stand up. One of the comedians there that night was making some really funny sterotype jokes about people living in Glendale. Somehow eventually, he got around to talking about how he used to get beat up in school as a kid. He went to his dad for advice, and his dad bought him SF2 for the SNES. So he practiced SF2 to fight back against the bullies. In the end, he got his ass kicked still. And his line was "WTF? I practiced all night! And I STILL got my ass kicked! WTF? It's down, forward right?! Am I doing it wrong?"
My friends and I were sitting in the back of the comedy club laughing our asses off ... and I think the rest of the crowd was fairly silent. haha.
