These are some matches that I have tape recently incase anyone is interested.

Many of these feature Tony, who is the guy who made the "Ibuki mix tape" and "Ibuki tutorial" videos.

http://youtube.com/profile_videos?user=iwst99

The matches are listed by who is playing and the tags show what characters are used in that particular vid.

JR rodriquez IS akuma. Jk. He is probably the best akuma player in the country.

Believe it or not, he is so hardcore he named his son Akuma...he's one of the best Akuma players.

I hope they never make him cosplay. That would be so wrong. But, at least it's just his middle name.

Well the Ibuki player is ok. I don't think he plays solid enough though. He tries to go for too many resets (like the failed c.LK reset on Remy after close s.HK in the corner...if this is the right video). Should just concentrate on doing actual damage. Also has issues with doing slides way too close to the opponent (which I used to have and at times still mess up on). He does know how to mix it up though and has a lot of different tricks. Just needs to solidify his game a bit instead of going for all the funny resets. Granted these are casual matches so I'm not going to grade them like some British reality show butthead.

Ohhhhh, Feint, he told you to GTFO with your resets :(

Thanx, I've seen some, but everyone I saw didn't utilize the SA. They just use the bar for ex moves. I'm having a hard time putting the SAIII in my mix-up game. I wanted to see top players on how they do it, but I guess you really cant...

Well SA3 is punishable on block so it's not just something you can just add in to your mix up game on a whim like SA1 (which is usually more safe on block).

Thing with Ibuki is...the super doesn't do much more damage than most of her normal combos. s.MK to HCB+HP or EX qcb+K does like the same damage (if more or less by a few points). It's best used to punish stuff that's not normally punishable on block like shoto sweeps and whiffed pokes from a distance.

If I am going to combo into the super it's usually after a f+MK or c.LK from a distance where I know it's safe on block. f+MK gives you ample time to confirm and is hard to punish in most situations. c.LK just allows you a low option to verify into damage from a distance where Ibuki normally can't. It's not confirmable though so make sure you're not fighting Ken or Chun with meter and get it blocked. It's your ass if it doesn't hit them.

DevilJin: You held on for a while against that Makoto player... a lot better than most others I've seen (including myself). I was rooting for ya' as I was watching the vids, but unfortunately that whore Makoto always seems to have Ibuki's number.

The guy who played Urien was very solid with setups as well. It's so hard to escape the corner against a good Urien player. I learned a lot in general watching your vids, and I really want to develop safer poking strats to keep opponents at bay like you do. I was really impressed with the way you were able to keep pressure on opponents at times with the high-low game.

Thanks for sharing.

I wanted to see top players on how they do it, but I guess you really cant... IMO it's dependent on the matchup. SA.III is actually kind of useful against Oro, where as SA.I is not.

The best ways to land it are MP->SA.III, f+MK->SA.III, auto-confirm MP+MK->SA.III, and LP-MP-HP chain->SA.III. You can also confirm it off MK but it's a bit trickier than the other methods.

However, it's also pretty easy to land it from half-screen away when you see some one whiffing pokes for meter, like Chun or Oro's laggy attacks. Keep buffering the super during whiffed MP's and wait 'till you see the opponent whiff a random laggy move, then super that shit.

ROFL. His done.

Yeah...Eric Kim's a solid player. He figured that I would probably try to jump out of his karakusa on wake up in that 3rd match and punished me for it. I was pumped going into that 3rd match but then after that just kinda lost it. He knows what he's doing though and Ibuki takes damage from her that much harder. I enjoy the fight though and it's always good to play someone that forces you to play outside of the way you normally would. I put him into loser's earlier in the tournament 2-1 but then had to fight him again since he pretty much beasted his way through the loser's bracket after I lost to Exo in winners.

Thank You! I just found out a very good way to put it in my mix-up. My main was the f+mk > SA3, but now it's lp>mp>hp>SA3. Never knew you could chain it to that combo until a couple of days ago. I will also use your c.lk. Seems kinda dangerous. No hit confirm means death...

Man, you guys are like family...Yeah, I just found out about lp,mp,hp SA3. I use the j.hp>f+MK>lp>mp>SA3 also. I know SA1 is better, but somehow I feel more comfortable with SA3. Thanx for the info.

Only one Ibuki match towards the middle but it's the craziest Genei-Jin defense I've seen. That's hilariously awesome, but also extremely risky. She's left wide open if you block, tech (grap defense), or parry it.

Incidentally the Ibuki player's name is Higa (ヒガ).

That's the most crazy random Yun vs. Ibuki match I've ever seen. Taunting to get out of the corner? I guess the idea is that if you get the taunt fine and if you dont you'll probably get hit out of the air and reset. Which isn't great but at least you're not taking hits for a second or so. It does get you out of the corner and 50 percent + damage on s.MK to hcb+HP is good damage. Like you said though...if it gets blocked then it totally works against you.

Xenozip.
05-05-2007, 12:23 PM
Air reset? After the first hit she'd be put in a true juggle state, so no reset, it'd just be a regular GJ juggle combo.

So if Yun parries, blocks, or grap techs then Ibuki is toast. And if Yun did something like toward+MK (commonly used) then he'd just hit her out of it since he'd be off the ground.

Honestly I don't know why that was working at all, the taunt has startup frames that Ibuki can get hit out of, and it's not immediately immune to throws either since she's not instantly off the ground (it's slower to leave the ground than dp+P/K, IIRC).

Then again he didn't miss it once and he did it more than once, so maybe there's something we don't see. But still, that doesn't negate the fact that she's toast if blocked/parried/teched.

Ah...I've never tried it so I wouldn't have known that it didn't reset. That's obviously not something that I'd be trying in a tournament anytime soon but there was definitely a mind game behind it that the Ibuki player was understanding.

Actually the first taunt escape happened when Mester broke his string to hop kick and the taunt beat it. The second time it seems like he predicted the command grab since the string was being blocked and GJ was running out but who knows.
The escape with her command dash was also a nice reaction to Yun's jump.

How can I find the newest ranbat video?

About taunting to get out of Yun's GJ, it makes sense to me because almost every time I see someone use that super, the mentality is to keep attacking and hit you with something so that they can produce a combo of sorts. Doing a taunt would not only force the Yun player to think twice about not confirming with GJ, but it would make them a bit hesitant to attack while GJ is active (if it hasn't been confirmed). This could open some doors to poke at Yun, throw him, etc. Also, if the taunt hits, it does eat up some time and it gets you out of the corner.

It may be safer than we think, but only in context with GJ. IMO, it is due to the Yun players having one-track minds once GJ is activated.
