I noticed all the old threads get closed because of spam and flaming, so keep it clean. (yes that means lots of swearing)
I'll start the thread off w/, Where are all the Seong Mina players???

I'm a Kilik player and always have been. I like what they have done to Kilik in SC3. Got ride of all his useless moves and replaced them with good ones. Thank good they got ride of his 214 stance from SC2. That crap was useless imo. WS + B in SC3 is too much beats loads of stuff.
Btw his command throw goes like this: 236, A+G, 6+A, 63214+B
Its a mistake in the game's command list that states: 236, A+G, 46+A, 63214+B
Just hold 6 after 236 and then press A and quickly do 63214+B. Best follow up is 4B.
I play with the PAL version the US version is screwed and buggy.

Yeah, they really fixed Kilik, but he's still a fucking asshole when fighting against him.
I have to use Seong Mina to balance the range, cuz Yun-Seong can't get close for crap.

Sophitia and Talim here. I can play Seung Mina aswell but I try to avoid long range. Not a very challenging fight when you have long range.

Yoshimitsu is the shit, but unlike Mitsu he's takes more time to learn.
I have to re-learn Yoshi, cuz I haven't even unlocked everyone yet.
Barely got it a week ago, I used to play it at my friends.

Mitsu is easier to use than Yoshi, but yoshi has the whole fake out/confusion game working for him. I personally like Mitsu better, although I don't really like the changes he's undergone in SC3.
I also play with Astaroth, again don't really like the changes they made in SC3, and

I think they finally balanced his power in SC3, he used to be really strong.
Out of all the big chars I play Seigfied, Zasalamel

Mitsu was top tier in SC2 and 1 in my opinion. I won a local tourny with him against a really tough Ivy. Zasalamel is nice for a newcomer, does anyone play Tira?

You do realise that Astaroth is top tier in the Arcade Edition, which makes him top in PAL and NTSC/JAP versions as well?

Zig should know the teirs for SC2. But I don't think Mitsu was top, maybe just under. Yoshi was a beast in that game though.

FYI, Arcade Edition was released after all console versions, including PAL and JPN. That being said, Asta was buff in all versions, both console AND arcade. All he really lost from SC2 were true-mid 66B, 2A pickup, Bullrush cancel, and a much better PT (214A; sucks ass in SC3 outside of combos). None of this really mattered, 'cause he got the following upgrades:
-All command throws cannot be GI'd, but only a handful of characters have an option for both escapes (A and B; most just have one or the other). Asta's one of them, which means any GI gives him a free throw mixup that you HAVE to break, and both options lead to big damage.
-Consistent anti-step counter hit makes 66A,B a risky but very rewarding horizontal. Combo to air throw for almost half their life. Damage was nerfed in arcade, but it's still buff. As for other horizontals, 3A is safe, fast, and gives a free throw mixup on CH.
-General downgrade to step makes Bullrush very abusable. 8WR version gives advantage on block when charged. When held to the max, can combo to PT for a TON of damage. Great incentive for someone to never go high again.
-New wakeup system gives him easy tech-catches. After most techable knockdowns, if the opponent tech rolls and you time it right, a crouch throw attempt is guaranteed. Even if it misses, you're safe. Easiest setup is CH 4B, a fast mid that is now quite spammable thanks to above-mentioned nerfing of sidestep. Also works after 4[B], which just happens to give major advantage on block.
-4A+B now tracks 100%, just like in SC1. When performed with partial no charge, grants the same easy tech-catch as CH 4B. The fully charged version is a comparatively fast unblockable that cannot be sidestepped.
And this was all added BEFORE the arcade release. In arcade, they downgraded just about everybody who gave him problems and gave 66B a power knockdown that guarantees 22B....on normal hit. Can you say best 15 frame punisher in the game?
Wasn't Mitsu top tier or somethin like that in SC2?
I think they finally balanced his power in SC3, he used to be really strong.
Technically he received some downgrades in SC3, but that didn't matter because 22B can be VC'd and is a 100% safe combo starter that leads into half life and gives advantage on block. Pretty stupid move to say the least, and it's not like he's a pushover without it. He still has one of the best 50/50's in the game, thanks to 2K,B, and greatly benefits from the new stun system.
Zig should know the teirs for SC2. But I don't think Mitsu was top, maybe just under. Yoshi was a beast in that game though.
Debating SC2 tiers is dicey. The three characters that more or less everybody agreed on were Xianghua, Ivy, and Yoshi. After that, it depended on where you were and who you had played. Voldo and Mitsu were highly regarded on the West Coast. The East Coast liked Nightmare and Sophie, and both sisters were ranked top tier in the Dirty South. Taki was also occasionally brought up. Disagreement along regional lines was compounded by the tourney scene's steady decline between 2004 and 2005, during which no definitive tier list was produced because people just stopped caring.

To be honest, SC3 Yoshi isn't packing much when it comes to tricks, especially when compared to his SC2 incarnation. Before the game died (and my interest with it), Yoshi players mostly focused around his A,A and B,B strings, since they do good damage and give great advantage on hit. His Carve First (just frame 2bA) is also pretty strong. Ridiculously fast, and stuns on counter hit. There's probably other shit I'm forgetting, but I don't care enough to remember.

Lol I have a friend of mine who thinks Ivy is ok and not top tier in SC2. Everytime he says that I want to slap his face so badly. I recently had a grudge match with him in SC3 and he was pissed at how Ivy has been nerfed. I just think she's been balanced lol. I'll be sticking with Kilik (no pun intended lol) in SC4. I would be interesting to see how SC3 AE tourney at SBO 07 will be. I hope there are a couple of Kilik players I don't want to see only Mitsu, sisters and Astaroth players.

I never made time to really sit down with 3 until this weekend. Good god, I hate every single thing they changed about them in this one. I can't get used to it at all, it's the most awkward nonsense ever.

SC3 Ivy is still pretty good (last I checked anyway). 44B is an outstanding move. Safe, knocks down, has great range, and easily done while walking backwards. Can punish damn near any whiff. Backdash->44B is the new substitute for SC2's backdash->2A whoring.

It's just me being a scrub, really. I took a long time to really learn Voldo in SC2, but now he feels completely different. It's way too uncomfortable, I feel like I have to learn him all over again. It's not worth the time to me, characters shouldn't be completely reinvented for a sequel, it makes me nuts.
N - I'm garbage at Soul Calibur though, don't mind me.

Yeah, it kinda makes sense. I always remember talking to Linkrkc and how people admired him for using non top teir. But then others would say that she was top, etc. etc. It was just pretty common to hear that Xianghua and Yoshi were top for sure. I'm kind of surprised about the sisters (well, thinking about it, mainly Cassandra) and especially surprised about Nightmare being considered.

Nope.
She is much better in SC2 due to her versatility. In SC3 she is somewhat limited to sword since most of her great moves are in sword. Shes still good though but not as good as her SC2 incarnation. Although i will say i prefer the execution speed of Criminal and Summon in SC3. I look back at SC2 and wonder how anyone got hit with it. So nah i wouldnt go near broke. Solid though except for one horrible matchup.

I look at it like this...
With great execution of iGDR, upper mid. With no iGDR execution, mid.
If someone had perfect iGDR execution on whiffs, unsafe moves, and punishable blocked moves, then i wouldnt hesitate to put him in top. BUT, no one has perfect execution of iGDR so yeah upper mid at most. Nori has a pretty high success rate on hitting iGDR on stuff like blocked X 3A, whiffed pokes, etc but occassionaly he will mess up. I also showed him the magic of aB. That move is retarded because youre completely out of range and it STILL hits. At close range though, its unsafe as hell.
Plus you gotta remember that iGDR isnt something to just throw out cause on block its free launch or back throw, depending on your character. You need to know when to throw it out or your reaction time has to be really good to catch simple A/B poke whiffs.

In SC3, it seems like Ivy is way downgraded, I was playing long range with her in SC2, but in SC3 I was playing mid range. I played SC3 Arcade edition today and I was surprised how better it is than the home version.

Its mostly East Coast, West Coast and Canada trying to keep the game alive. That's how it basically was at Clash this year.
Oh and for SC3:AE, not all bonus characters were included, only Amy, Hwang and Li-long made the cut. Also just about everyone got moves removed/toned down.

I primarily play Yun Seung but with the exception of Maxi,Taki and Tira players I've dominated almost everyone I've come across but I think thats just because everyone sucks around here. My question is how do people think Yun Seung is at high level play. And just to let you know about AC SC3...its 75 cents the first time you play but after its 50 as long as you put it in right after time out or lose.
