Hi, everyone! This is my first post. Last night, I was bored so I decided to check out GameTap. After browsing through the library of games for a bit, I was shocked at how many quality games they have available. I was especially surprised to see that they offered Street Fighter Alpha 3 and with online vs. at that! Maybe that's old news to the people here, but I thought I'd post it just in case all of you didn't know. You can sign up right now for GameTap and get the first month for only $0.99 (that's what I did). In case any of you have played 2d fighters on the PC...what's the best pc gamepad for them?

Honestly, I haven't tried out the online myself yet. I'm going to go to the store and pick up a gamepad today. I'll give a full report later on today.

Yes but then again, MAME + SFA3 = "not legal" and GameTap runs less laggier.

It's legal if u own SFA3 and the lag is only bad if you're playing someone who lags.

They have almost all the CPS2 games on Gametap, as well as a bunch of Neo Geo fighters. To bad the lag is the worst I've ever seen in my life.

After my .99 month trial ended, I cancelled. I wrote them an e-mail saying if they ever fix their netcode that I will be glad to pay, and gave them my e-mail addy. I even told them to check out poporu.com for an example of good netcode. Sadly I know that they will never do anything about it.

It would really be a cool place for us all to play, especially with the way the friends list and game lobby's are set up. It even has AIM integrated into the friends list options.

I seriously dream that they make a sick netcode for Gametap someday.

Yep, the lag was atrocious, unfortunately. One of my matchups was bearable, though. It'd really be something if they fixed it.

"It's legal if u own SFA3 and the lag is only bad if you're playing someone who lags."

Actually, this is not true. That's just something (along with, "allowed to have for X days then delete") that those sites throw around a lot. Many court cases have proven those all wrong.

Even if you own the copy of the game, you still violate copyright law. (then again, if you live in a foreign country that is anywhere except the USA, Canada, or England, you are probably ok here depending on your copyright laws.)

Hey all,

I also play on gametap (same tag) and I agree the lag can be much better. Last couple of weeks (for SFA3) it seems the lag has improved slightly but not by much. I must also have something to do with user location because I've had matches that were as smooth as arcade speed (usually the regular players have better connections). I'm new to these forums but I've been looking for more regular opponents (even someplace where maybe contests and tournaments can be setup). If anybody still uses the service, look me up, I'm always down for a match.
