I main F-Siely though, I'll probablly end up switching to M though after seeing that damage scaling post. Siely really has no huge advantages in Freedom so... yeah. M-Siely has no real advantages over T or F.

As Magus pointed out, F-Siely's primary strength is using the point system to your advantage. M-Siely really just gets owned by the point system.

Most of the combos I see people do with F-Siely generally do 2k-3k, but they also build an extremely large amount of points. The points allow Siely to do high/low mixups without the risk of getting punished until she successfully hits the opponent and does another combo that does 2k-3k -- that means even though the second combo isn't guaranteed, it's very likely that it will connect, so you're actually doing 2(3)k-6k plus chip damage. Her numbers don't look impressive but if you watch some matches closely you can see that she's still able to eat away at the opponents life bar fairly consistently by doing her special-cancel lockdown in Freedom mode.

T-Siely is rather strong too, though. Her 214b attack has a large amount of autoguard frames, auto-targets, and if down air-to-ground gives frame advantage. This gives her fireball->uppercut traps and safe left/right mixups. She also does comparable damage to F-Siely, only with much less work.

Personally I still think T-Siely is much better for a lot of match-ups. Although F-Siely can certainly destroy certain characters as well.

I think my video is a little messed up because whenever someone dashs backward (backward only, forward is normal) they disappear for the dash and reappear when its done. Anyone have this problem or know any fixes?

Well since I don't remember what it was, I spent 5 minutes just doing a different Rail combo for you instead, but while doing it, I was experimenting with Monster Rail and right now I'm trying to break 9K with him. I'll upload a replay in about 10 minutes whether I can find a way or not.

And no, I don't press F2 or F4 anytime before or during that combo.

No it's a common annoyance. I actually get challenged by alot of Japanese players, and it's laggy, so I wait to make sure they want to play before I start. They tend to DC after losing a round or just do it right after losing the match, before it is recorded. My record should be way better, so I just ignore my stats. But yes, it is irritating as fuck.

Shouldn't pay any attention to record. It really doesn't matter. I wipe my own record once in awhile just because the amount of wins/losses you have no your record don't really mean anything. Player with 100 wins could still beat a player with 1000 wins, just depends on skill and what the match-up is.

Sweeet. I played this Jap dude at 25 fps or so (I just realised out that thing in between the lifebars is the framerate) twice, and won both times.

First time he was using T-Siely. Caught me a few times in Siely's block strings, but power breaks took care of that.

Second he used T-Rail (...okay). Really close first match, he played runaway. While the slight changes are notable, there isn't the huge damage boost that M-Rail gets that defines the runaway style and give good damage.

Connected to another guy, AKIRA (at 35 fps...my best so far, yay!). Good games! I lost to his F-Orju once...then fought his T-Siely four times, I think...won thrice, lost once.

I think I managed to save a few of the replays too, though I'm not sure how to upload them and where...

EDIT: Some other things, he managed to rape me with rushdown a few rounds (most of them were close, but he had some rounds where he'd have like, more than half life left by the end of it). Since I rarely play online, I'm not sure how to cope with F-Orju rushdown switch sides mixup and continuous Siely corner attacks spammage so I just tried random shit.

Also, the funny part about all this, as I said in IRC, is I was in a $25 poker tournament at the same time, and had to auto-fold during my matches! Then, literally RIGHT AFTER grand finals, I got pocket aces and almost tripled up - ended up finishing 5th out of 100+, for a cool $180. Multi-tasking & luck FTW

EVERY time I've done it before (not here, but MANY other places), I'm in a full room, and either nobody's saying shit, or 2 valley-girl/boy yuppy types (complete with "lol oh-my-gawd...get out. he did NOT!" posted in disbeliefe) are talking back and forth with a friend they see every day about pointless shit they did when they went to see so and so movie with Dustin, and ignoring anything you type, while 20 or so other people are in the same room and not saying shit. I'm not fucking with it ever again. Bad experiences.

Although, what you're saying is generally what happens to IRC channels over time when the topic dies/gets old. But when the topic is fresh then people talk plenty, and generally avoid stupid shit, during reasonable hours.

Right now the Monster channel has about 20 regulars (mostly EC) and most of the conversations are about Monster or Monster related. It's good for setting up matches with people, talking about combos and strats, sharing replays or links to vids, glitch and balance discussion, getting news updates on upcoming patches, tech support, participating in the ranbats, and stuff like that. I'm not saying it's going to stay that way forever, but at least it's good for right now since Monster is still relatively new and interesting.

Most of the conversations over the past month have had actual content related to Monster. People naturally tend to idle during sleep hours, except for the insomniacs, and it's less busy during business hours. But generally the channel is doing good right now.

By refusing to join an IRC channel (which is no hassle AT ALL) you're forcing us to repost information and conversations that we've already gone over. That's more of a hoop than having to join the channel.

Not that it's the point of IRC anyway. There's four primary purposes for using IRC instead of the boards:
1) Match-making. You can see who's online because IRC provides a public chat "room" and you can ask people to play.
2) Small talk/chatting. We use IRC instead of spamming up the threads with "gg so-and-so, lol :)" x100.
3) Online Ranbats. No way these would ever take place without a chat room. Since Monster doesn't have a chat function we have to use IRC.
4) File transfers. Instead of having to upload replays, screenshots, and videos we can just send stuff over IRC easily.

As for the patches, you find out about the public releases when we do. Unless it's an unofficial/private release just for the testers. We would catch flak if we posted a link to a file that wasn't supposed to get a public release.

And as for the combos and strats, people should be posting those on the forums, but I really wouldn't expect anyone to just out of the blue. Really, people should be posting questions (or replays) in the thread so that answers can be posted.

Although, I personally feel match videos and combo videos speak louder than words, but maybe that's just me. But that's why I at least try to update my youtube page and blog when I have time.

I dont see why it is a problem. We simply just want people to have others to play WHEN they want to play. As well as have a growing community with it. When we say join the IRC room its more for the person who is looking for competition and information rather than have us find the information for you all the time. Monster has no online chat (yet) So it is really hard to communicate with people you do not know at all. Wouldnt you say? Maybe im just looking at it the wrong way.

It's about as meaningless as asking people to attend tournaments or buy 2D fighting games. If you care enough to support a scene/community, you deserve to receive a reward for it. Information is periodically posted in this or other Monster threads, but it's really not anybody's job in the channel to regurgitate information, important or not onto this thread. We all give sufficient information and help to get to the channel, the rest is up to you. If you don't like finding out things a couple days afterwards, then join us. If you don't care, then feel free to wait.

Ikusat discovered that Katze's 6c is different from his 5c. Apparently it's faster and more easily comboable off his A attacks. So 5a 6c is viable. Or 3a 6c (to avoid 236c).

Rail has one change.

His 22a registers right away. Before there was a chance you could use a spirit attack and it would only shoot once if you did it too soon after 22a. Now it will always shoot two.

It's still seems proximity based. Like if you do 22a while the spirit is really far away it won't gain the trail until the spirit is close to Rail. Like if you do 214a 22a the spirit won't be powered up until it comes back across the screen.

I've noticed some weird properties with T-Rail's shifted charge 236b. For some reason it causes random powerbreaks while charging or right when you release it (before the spirit even does anything).

Other than that he seems the same to me. F-Rail's shifted 236a seems more "solid" but that could just be me.

The biggest changes seem to have happened to Maya and Othello. Poor Maya. Seems like M-Maya is actually comparable to the other shifts now that the other two got so nerfed.

Seconded re: Katze's absurd. People are talking about a ban, but we'll see - it IS really broken, but you basically can't afford to use it if you haven't already won a round.

One more general change for everyone:

- If you double jump straight up and *immediately* attack, you will drop straight down as you perform your air move. Does not work with up/forward or up/back.



Othello's 2B is noticeably slower, but it's not really a big deal since that was the worst of his low pokes to begin with.

And to go more into Delga:

OK. Here are my notes:

- Almost all hitboxes seem the same to me. All my combos work just fine. Although, universal gravity is stronger...so that might be why your variations aren't working.

- His Freedom damage wasn't really nerfed, everyone's damage scaling was increased. It just hurts freedom mode the worst.

- He lost is OTG super grab. Which is the worst nerf he got if you ask me.

- His command grab lost ALL invulnerability and about half it's range.

- The hit-stun on 5A was reduced. So A, A, A xx A no longer works.

- You can no longer combo into super grab from a guard-shift.

+ Hitbox on j.A is slightly larger now, making it easier to cross-up with.

^While the lag from coast to coast play most of the time is playable, low drops hamper mindgames since the lag gives both players more time to react to mixups than they would if they were to play offline. It's like playing ST on speed 1 instead of speed 3.

With that said, I've never played anyone on the west coast. Now if there are a few west coast players still playing, my interest in this game would probably spark up, because outside of a few east coast players, it's overall pointless to play EC players unless the netcode got even better.

He can't off pressure, but he can put it on. Then again most characters don't have a good way of getting out of corner pressure other than running away from it when they see a hole. Rail can apply pressure once he gets it going, getting it going can be difficult depending on the opponent, but once it's up, Rail can continue to pressure well.

My fav is Rail. If u "charge" his spirit ball u can perform consecutive attacks and damaging ones.
This is a very skill character here. You can perform a lot of combos with him.

The problem is that if u trow a spirit ball and the other person use power break u are in danger.

It's strange, I had it happen to me again today, but I was still able to join the person that I wanted to play by selecting another person on the list. He was at the second to bottom of the list but there were two unselectable slots, so I just picked the second from the bottom out of the ones I could highlight.

The second time we tried to play I didn't see him on the list at all, so I just used Direct-IP Intrude since he was on IRC.

If you're looking for fireball->uppercut trap then T-Siely has that. If you're looking for good normals and a good DP then Katze has that. If you're looking for top tier then Ryougen and Othello are tops.

Damn, I just spent the last two hours messing around with Katze in training mode, I really love this game's shift system. I especially liked the A Groove of shifts, freedom. You can do something like bison's paint the fence with his dp+A move in the corner, which I thought was a funny coincedence.

It's pretty simple. Intrude allows you to pick a game from the list of hosted games. Games that are "busy" can't be joined, but you can join "Open" games. The second option "Wait" enables you to host a game, turn it "on" so that other people can join you.

If you're behind a router/firewall, in order to host a game you need to have TCP port 2300 open.

If the list of games is empty then no one's hosting a game. In that case use IRC to join #8105Monster on EFnet, there's almost always some one there willing to play (during reasonable hours).

And naturally you need the latest patch to play other people, currently version 1.01.

Same-Coast connections aren't too bad at all. You should be getting 40-55 FPS with a same-coast connection.

Well, some one said you could backdash out of stuff that "breaks" like that. Meaning, you can stand up so the does the point-reset thing, and then backdash out of it. I mean, if you stand up you still cannot block, but in theory you can backdash.

Not 100% sure yet though, haven't tested it much.

Also, rogue says that Maya also has one similar to it. I never got Maya's to work though.

Rail has one, but the damage is total crap so there's no point in doing it. :lol:

Magus - go to File > Select Servers. Servers > Add. In IRC server box, put irc.mizuumi.net, put whatever you want in description. Connect to the server, then go to #8105Monster as normal.

Shame on me if you figured it out already or if I gave bad instructions (mIRC newb here too).

If you want to be on both servers at the same time, you can.

File->Recent Servers->New Server Window

This opens another server window which allows you to join multiple servers at once.

In one server window go to File->Select Server->Connect->Servers..

Then push the "add" button and put in the name of the server, the server address, and the group name (yes, you have to put a group).

Then in the other server window do the same, but just put in the other server you want to connect to. Right now I'm on both Efnet and Mizuumi.

well, opening your ports is a two way street. you need you port opened if you want people to connect to you, and they need their port opened if you'd like to connect to them.

Some people need to learn not to take this shit so seriously. CT can say the game needs some graphic work, because it does. In no way was that an attack on anybody's personal character or opinions. The game isn't pretty, and a lot could be done to make it look nicer. I don't like the game...at all...but some of you do, and that's cool. For those of you who play the game, I bet you'd appreciate the game looking more professional.

hey xenozip, i found a weird glitch yesterday just randomly playing the cpu.
i was siely vs cpu f-maya and i did a blockstring into normal throw while she had just laid a floor circle, the floor circle hit me out of the throw and she teleported to midscreen but was still stunned from the grab, and i commenced comboing her :x
i should have just left her there to see if she would have just been stuck forever
then later i saw her somehow okizeme me in the corner by laying a floor circle and landing normal throw on wakeup, i got OTGd by the circle and she teleported and did an overhead
all of this stuff may be old however since i havent played in forever :/
