Yeah yeah I know, all the death threads and stupid puns but I wanted to throw this one out because it hits close to home with my military background and I just couldn't imagine being poisoned by my wife (if I had one). What a fucking cunt. This is why women need to get intimate with the stairs. And a man's boot.

SAN DIEGO - A woman was convicted Monday of murdering her Marine husband with arsenic so she could cash in on his $250,000 life insurance policy, which friends said she used to throw wild parties and have her breasts enlarged.

Prosecutors argued that Cynthia Sommer, 33, wanted a more luxurious lifestyle than she could afford on her 23-year-old husband's $1,700 monthly salary and saw his military life insurance policy as a way to "set herself free."

Sommer's friends and co-workers also testified that she had casual sex with multiple partners in the weeks after her husband's collapse.

Sgt. Todd Sommer was in top condition when he collapsed and died at the couple's home on the Marine Corps' Miramar base in San Diego.

His death was initially ruled a heart attack. Tests of his liver later found levels of arsenic 1,020 times above normal.

Cynthia Sommer swallowed and stared as the verdict was read, while her mother burst into tears. She faces life in prison.

With no direct evidence that Sommer was the source of the arsenic detected in her husband's liver, Deputy District Attorney Laura Gunn relied heavily on circumstantial evidence of Sommer's debts to show that she had a motive to kill her husband.
Gunn asserted that the defendant was the only person with the motive and access to poison the Marine.

The Marine's relatives testified that she objected when they asked her to put her husband's $250,000 death benefit in trust for herself, their baby and her three children from a previous marriage.

Defense attorney Robert Udell told jurors that his client had lost her "knight in shining armor."

She is now engaged to a former Marine she met two months after her husband's death. She was extradited to California last March from her new home in West Palm Beach, Fla.

When your on base housing the only thing you pay for is your phone and cable bill, there's no rent, electric or water bill to worry about.

There are many people who are homeless and don't have a place to stay and would trade places with her in a heartbeat, yet she's complaining about not having a luxurious lifestyle........talk about ungrateful and selfish.

The widow first posted saying her husband died and getting condolences until, like, the 8th page where news came out about the poisoning. It was way back; she's only in court now.

But, yeah, life in prison is too good for her despite me thinking that Life is generally worse than a death sentence (especially if we're going to have likely guilty people bitching about the "inhumanity" of "possible" pain from lethal injection, like with the recent and ongoing dispute in California last year).

IMO maybe their insanity or stupidity have a lot to do with it. I mean if she doesn't value her spouse's life, it's safe to assume she doesn't value human beings in general. She is likely to think she is smarter or better than everyone else, and thus underestimate the investigators and her spouse's family members in their ability to detect her actions. She may use sloppy detectable methods, and not realize some of her actions (like refusing to put the money in the trust) will arise suspicion. She honestly thought she wouldn't be caught or else she wouldn't have gone through with it, and thus I feel that attitude lends some credence to this theory.

Also on the note of your other comments about non-humans or whatever: I hope this doesn't spark some huge 40 page debate or something, but I'd just like to say that people say she's inhuman, because her actions go against the very thing being a decent human being in a civilized society is all about. She is human and she is evil, but although humans are capable of great evil, they are capable of great good as well.

To further that pun, especially since religious threads are verboten, I just find more and more curious how religion seems all about guilt, and yet people "conveniently" forget about the concept of "original sin".

Anyway, I know why people are saying she "isn't human", like she's type of monster from a Sci-Fi original picture--"Arsinick: The Toxic Bitch" at nine; I was merely saying that I don't agree with, especially when the whole idea of civilization is usually a loaded term and debatably unnatural.

But, yeah, let's not make this topic unnecessarily lengthy (just yet).

2. It's difficult to create insensitive puns for a man was a married marine since all the puns are either homoerotic or aquatic (rhyming not intended).

Behold, my point (some of you will notice on numerous levels what I'm talking about).

The argument is that Yahweh gave people freewill and therefore if you had free will you would have to be allowed to contradict something, in this case God, because if you didn't you wouldn't have free will. In even plainer terms - if you couldn't choose to do wrong in situations you wouldn't have free will. Just to shoot it down before it starts- no, God knowing what you are going to do does not mean that you are predestined to do something no matter what. God knowing what you do based on your decision is not a contradiction of freewill. Therefore the only "predestination" (in the mind of God) is because of your own choice.

There you go.

Oh, and he didn't leave the temptation, he allowed it (so that there would be the free will choice to choose for or against).

This is actually one of the rare moments that I agree with you Damned, although it is clear that humans who are unable to control these "primitive" tendencies in societies would be hard to find common ground from the "normal" humans with consciously controlled selfishness. This makes them look more vile and animalistic in nature.

Yeah i was thinking the same thing, who would want to marry that woman anyways? She's obviously out of her mind and evil as hell, why would you even want to get involved. And the fact that he's another ex-marine with the same life insurance thing is even MORE rediculous.

Eh. The "free will" argument worked less and less for me as the years went on, which is why I'm such a fatalist at time.

At best, I believe in "limited choice", especially if God exists since we are so damned powerless against him. (No capitalization for you.[/grammarnazi])

Even in "his" "benevolence", the Bible has "proved" that he's possibly schizo, and even if Hell and Heaven (which is arguably just as bad) didn't exist, that's damned scary.

But, hey, existence is fair. So certainly, we all must have had a hand in "freely willing" that.
