please bear with me.... let's say you walk into an arcade/watch a match vid on the net of ST. how do you know if the game being played is SSF2T or HSF2? please keep in mind the following conditions:

1- you're not allowed to watch the opening demo.
2- both versions immediately start with the match.
3- both versions' players are ST versions of the characters.
4- playing on a stage without any background differences between ST and HSF2 (ken stage in HSF2 has barrels but not in ST....etc.).
5- if playing the home versions, soundtrack should be set on CPS-II tunes.

believe it or not guys, there is a way to know! now there's a slight condition for it but i won't mention it cuz it will give away the answer.

i have faith in you guys! let's see how this goes!!

I;d look for a stage that's different in HSF2 than it is in ST. Like Ken's stage, which has barrels in HSF2. ST never had that.

announcer saying "Round 1/2/3. Fight!" is different in Hyper and ST

Number of wins displayed and "challenger" message above the Vitality Gauge at the start of the round.

i'm not talking about sf2 hyper fighting. it's hyper sf2: the anniversary edition.

in the hyper version your most likely to fight deejay first.

capcom are racist!

i think the soundtrack has something to do with it too

Like someone said, it says "Challenger" where the score in between the rounds and it also says how many wins you have at that spot.

please read point number 4.

Did you think I was serious? I directly paraphrased you on purpose.

The whole thing is silly. You ask how you could tell the difference between the two...except for the bunch of differences that you point out between the two. WTF?

I guess if I was watching it, I might notice Ken do a reversal super. I might notice Vega fuckin' up a lot of his wall dives. I might notice Old Sagat throwing fireballs that aren't so fast. I might notice someone ignoring your rules and raping with CE Bison. And then I'd ask myself, why am i watching some garbage HSF match/video?

i haven't changed any rules. does a match video must be between two human players? can't you have a match against the cpu?

guys... my intentions were clearly geared towards the purists. if you've been playing the game(s) long enough you will know. heck, i can tell the difference between the two games just by listening to them, even with identical CPS-II music of the arcade versions!
i know the whole thing is silly. i just needed to know if someone else besides myself noticed what i noticed. that's all.
if some of you is interested, i'll gladly provide the answer.

holding start makes it say "challenge me" on the arcade version of hsf?

One big difference between the two:

-During Round 2, the music doesn't go fast when the winner of Round 1 has about 15% life.

And so ends another chapter of "completely useless trivia no one gives a fuck about".

G'day!
