So, does anyone here see a psycho-therapist/psychiatrist/"shrink"/whatever? I've been curious about it lately, even though I still consider it a waste of money. As the average srker would assume...it's probably safe to say I have a lot of *issues*. The problems concerning women are just the tip of the iceberg.... Anyway, my curiosity is not really in the interest of getting better. I doubt that's even possible....I just think it might be interesting to talk to someone who is supposedly a professional in the whole psychological analysis gig. Other "talking points"
*Which would you choose, a male or female psychiatrist? (despite my mantra of not ever trusting women 100%....yes, I would be more inclined to choose a female "shrink"....it's not a foregone conclusion though, because I realize women tend to just not know what they're talking about, and we all know they tend to do and say things based on how things should be, rather than on what the reality of the situation is.)
*Race---white, black, hispanic, etc.?(eh, not so sure here...but any response to this is bound to bring up all kinds of "juicy" controversy...I always love that. )

Well I see a psychologist for my AS (Asperger's Syndrome, basically teach me how to BS my way through things that require a lot of feelings) and he's a guy. Older guy probably 50 or so. White. I'm white. You know.

issues? you?
NONSENCE YOU'RE JUST BEING REAL
with that said, I see nothing wrong with your view of women, fetishes, and sick sence of humor. In fact, you are a hero in my book.
You've made it OK for me to smell my ball sweat every chance I get...
yeah...

I should probably go on to say that since I started going about once a week I now know how to bullshit my way through said things which will hopefully cement my place in society by being able to pretend like I can empathize.

i think the best thing said about it was in Curb Your Enthusiasm
Larry David said something about it's stupid but you don't wanna bug your friends with this crap, which is kinda true. Everyone goes through some shit and I guess it's easier to talk with it with a stranger than a friend.

Why not just have a thorough conversation with a good friend?
Edit: Heh@the above post being the antithesis of mine.

Because a good friend will tell another good friend and your public image is now ruined. Not to mention half the globe is going to be talking shit about you

I've went to counciling when I was younger, because I had a violent temper, and had to be put on drugs for a period of time, and also had severe depression. The main thing is that you have to want to get better if anything like that is ever going to help.

What kind of good friend is that? Pick someone you can trust.

If I ever had a shrink... I'd want a mexican, because then I'd know they arent really pro's. They are just doing it for their citizenship, hell I'm paying the guy to sit down and listen I don't want any fucking feedback, and I sure as hell don't want him to understand me.

Million, if there was one person I had to nominate for seeing a psychiatrist, it would be you. And not one of those low tier scrubby psychiatrists either, i'm talking a group of Freud level psychiatrists helping you around the clock, 24/7.

If you find a good one, can afford them, and actually DO have some issues you need to address, it's worth it. Unfortunately, self-diagnosis is difficult because we all grow accustomed to whatever mental conditions we were born with. It's just like getting glasses for the first time; you don't know you need them until you try them.
I started seeing a shrink in high school, and he helped diagnose my ADD. Some people might tell you that ADD and other "common" mental disorders don't really exist, and I can assure you they don't know what they're talking about. After taking medication for the first time, it's like someone wiped the mud off of my windshield and defragged my brain. There's a reason why prescription drugs are such a large (and heavily regulated) industry: they're powerful, and they fucking work!
That all being said, it's important to realize a shrink and drugs are nothing more than tools, designed to help you reach a goal. At the end of the day, you need to get your fat ass off the couch and learn how to fix your life.
