With the arrival of SSBM at evo I think now is a good time to bring this here to SRK. I hope people find it useful.^_^

Ever wonder where you can find where the smashers are in your area and info about local tournaments?

There is a great program that does all of that called the Global Smasher Compendium! Not only does it give tournament info and player info world wide, but it also gives driving directions all on a 3D interface! The Global Smasher Compendium was recently ranked 17th on the top 500 Most Popular Recreational Placemarks for Google Earth and has brought along the creation of other great programs such as the Halo Players Index! I think they should be utilised more. Like for example wouldn't it be cool to have every arcade listed down with what games are available where. So you get almost perfect info about the scene and where to go and what to expect.

I'm sure that this is the only one of its kind(cause I invented it and I am the only one crazy enough to keep something like this maintained^_^).

Altho, I did make a template for a Halo series one just like it which was being maintained by a player from the Halo community, but each time I check back to it it seems to not be getting updates, so either he has stopped maintaining it or ppl have stopped joining....prolly both.

EDIT: if anyone wants to make one of these for another game series and u can get ahold of me on AIM then i can help u out with a template for it

this thing is really for all games in the smash bros series, but really i dont think this would be possible for ALL games combined....there would simply be too many placemarks to manage and too much for one person to run....

now they could be done separately by separate ppl but still made to run in Google Earth...and then once made they can be distributed all together in one archive,

but... this thing is purely fan based...i created it by myself...there wasnt any kind of company behind it, so if this were to be remade for other games it would have to be done the same way by a player who is willing...and like i said i would be willing to help with by creating a template, but i would not run it...someone would have to take their own time to maintain the system

I'm not much of a Smash player anymore(I honestly was at one point), but I must admit that it's players are really getting big with it's scene(especially since it's the second biggest tournament scene in the world next to Halo).
