Anyone else heard about this? I heard it on 93X (Minneapolis rock station) on the way home from work and just about pissed myself. They didn't get into details, just said that he left. I checked Googe and nothing yet. Anyone hear anything about this? This is fucking depressing unless De la Rocha mixes it back up with Rage, then it could potentially be the most winning thing ever.
probably has to do with RAGE playing cochella? maybe he realized

I haven't heard about Cornell quitting. And no disrespect to him, but he doesn't belong with them anyway.
I'm trying to win tickets from my local radio station to go to Coachella. I NEED TO SEE RAGE.
edit: Damnit I just missed the chance to call in. DAMN DAMN DAMN.
yessssss
heres hoping zach comes back and timmy c gets his shit together

Seriously. I love Audioslave but Rage is in a whole other tier. Goddamn am I excited about the prospect of Zach and the band hooking back up. It's inevitable. It's going to happen.
*Waits patiently for ticketmaster to start selling New Rage tix*

The follow up to RATM without Zach.
Regardless, I been bought my Coahchella tickets. $100 bucks for one band (don't care for the line- up except RHCP...and I saw them already).
I would have killed to see RATM. Never though I would get the chance. Now I don't have to kill anything ^_^

Cornell's lost his touch, both in voice and songwriting. The first Audioslave album showed some promise, but the second album was fucking staler than the cheese dip in my fridge from Christmas.

Meh Audioslave is an alright band, better then Rage thats for sure. Talk about an overrated and overhyped band.

lololol
even if you think they don't make good music
their impact on the music industry is more than enough to give them credit as one of the (if not the) most important bands of the last 50 years

i love both bands when they were around but
audioslave was all about CC overshadowing the sound way too much.

I LOVE Audioslave's first album. Everything Cornell does is gold to me simply because of his voice. He can make Hollaback Girl sound like poetry.
Jae Hoon: No.

Aye. One of my biggest dreams is to be at a Rage concert and yell "Fuck you I won't do what you tell me!" with Zach.

Yep. I thought they'd be around for a while so I never bothered to get tix. Now, if they hook back up, I'll be all over it like white on rice.

Haha my friend is going CRAZY about this news. We live in NYC, and once upon a time, my friend had tickets way back in high school for a concert.
Now this concert, had Beastie Boys AND Rage Against the Machine playing together, and he was SO fucking hyped about this... And of course, Mike D broke his arm and the tour got cancelled and rescheduled... Then of course RATM broke the fuck up. One of the biggest disappointments of his entire life (he lives a sheltered life) and now he's screaming about how God is giving him another chance to go to a new RATM concert.
Man, RATM + Beastie boys... Audio Buffet.
"IIIIIIIII CAN'T STAND IT, I KNOW YOU PLANNED IT, I'MMA SET IT STRAIGHT THIS WATERGATE!"

Agreed about the goodness of their first album, but the second one sucked so bad. There's not a single song on there I like; although there's one I can listen to, I still don't like it.
I think RATM is a good band, but I absolutely hate Zach's voice. He sounds like a grown ass big kid with angst.

Agreed. Even if you're not a De la Rocha fan, I don't even know how you can label Tom Morello's guitar as shitty music. It was one of the most innotive sounds out there at that time. Guys a guitar sound entrepreneur.

The Audioslave split was not unexpected. His colleagues, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk, have reunited with singer Zack de la Rocha to resurrect their former band Rage Against the Machine, which will play its first show in seven years at California's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 29. Rage's plans beyond this show are unknown.

I never heard that so I'm calling special powers on my part :wgrin:
Not disrespect But audioslave is like RATM with no teeth. they just sound so manufactured, Like some big corporate man got a group of 13 year olds in a room and asked them what they like to hear. Cornell was always better on his own imo but then he lost touch with the fans and is just fucking selfconcieted now

Granted I knew this great news a while ago too, I'm still giddy about it. ESPECIALLY since I only got in to RATM after they broke up. [Yeah I know, sue me.] But this was before Audioslave too.
I'll just be testament to the fact that RATM is timeless and influential. I always will be a Renegade of Funk.

RATM>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Audioslave. Chris Cornell seriously wasted his talent and time with that outing. Hell, everyone involved was probably just looking for a paycheck imo.
I'll definitely be at Coachella. Other than The Six, any other SRK'ers going?

If Rage is God Tier, then Tom MOrello is AHVB. He is a guitar GOD. He can shred (he talks about his metal history in guitar world.) and he makes such insane noises with pedals, and switches. Tom Morello is one of the best guitarists in the last 100 years.
