sounds like they are turning Tekken 6 into Mortal Kombat 7 (Armageddon) Baji-Quan? A gun like Jax/Stryker, etc.
EDIT: I just read the T6 storyline and yeah it does sound like Mortal Kombat Armageddon...Kazuya VS Jin = Taven VS Daegon, etc... Wonder when Mortal Kombat VS Tekken comes out :rofl:
Seems like No fighting franchise can come up with their own original shit anymore. I mean you got King (I mean Leo) in T6 as well
I think I am going to use the Miguel, especially if he is an evasive character and like Raphael only in a good game.

Still Namco is releasing T6 way too soon. T5: DR is owning Virtua Fighter 5 in Japanese arcade and DR is still ranked in the top of the arcade chart since 2005 release with huge income in Japan and Korea
There are no new 3-D fighters coming except Namco Soul Calibur 4.:razz:

I'll be interested to see how he fights. Zafina seems like just a female Voldo and Leo is gonna be great. About time Tekken has a Hakkyoku-Ken fighter. The arcadia screens of T6 do look pretty decent, but it's still looking a little too much like DR for my liking. Needs more refinment.

Zafina 2nd costume is quite sexy but she's still a dry character. Hmmm, can she out slut Anna/Christie? We shall see!
Jin 2nd player outfit is the trench/trousers combo he wears in his T5 ending. Nice.

Well i know T6 will come out on PS3 first like VF5.I don't know what Namco will T6 but I hope it does come to 360 so I won't have to get a ps3.I use someone elses to play VF5 and I hate doing that.

I feel the same way. Tekken is my favorite fighter but I don't think I'll be buying a PS3 just for it.

Tekken is way better than DOA as a series.The online play is cool but if Tekken doesn't have it, it will still be a better game.Tekken has one of the best fighting game rosters ever and just continues to get better.Tekken may not have online play but you can expect a quality fighting game.

I highly doubt we will see Tekken 6 on XBOX 360. Bandai Namco partnered with SONY to design a PS3 based arcade board.
SONY will probably use this to secure their exclusivity.

tekken has more depth and juggling in tekken is more fun
but yeah dead or alive imo is winning in sales because of the online play (i have no statistics though), its so simplistic and fun that playing online and experiencing slow down isnt so bad
basically tekken is serious enough to frustrate you if you experienced lag during a juggle

Marketing almost always determines when a series jumps ship. Mostly when a series has reached its peak and can no longer sale units individually to one system. But, Tekken is still rather strong...
However, we know people go crazy when a new Tekken is developed, and can't wait to buy it. The developers take account to that, and it influences the decision of ending its exclusive ideals.

Just because Tekken has been PS exclusive so far, doesn't mean it will stay that way. I don't remember a Ace Combat being any other system but the Playstation brand, but Bandai Namco is putting out Ace Combat 6 for the 360.
Bandai Namco is a business, if the PS3 was doing better, then it probably would be exclusive, but since it isn't and the strongest system in Japan is the DS, they will probably release it on the 360 as well. But I am going under the assumution that the PS3 doesn't improve dramatically by at least around fall.
ANYWAY...Miguel looks...lol...dope.

No, they just express(and control) how the mainstream sees the game. The majority of them go to fighting game forums and just copy and paste the dominant opinion of the game. Every fucking time I read a Virtua Fighter review they are quick to say it's the deepest 3D fighter. And even though I tend to agree, you KNOW that they'd start umming and ahhing if you asked them what's so deep about VF.

Boy did I call it on that one. I know about VF's nuances. The point is, one game is deep for its own reasons, and another one is deep for its own reasons. VF and Tekken (FOR EXAMPLE) do not play the same, therefore, "Depth" is in the eye of the beholder on that one. Therefore, its stupid to just come out and say that VF is the deepest fighter out there, because not everyone is going to see it that way. That was the point I was making...geez.

So, I haven't been keeping tabs on this game for a while (mostly because it's going to be on a system I have no intention of getting. Fuck Kaz Hirai and his $599 US dollars, I can get both a Wii and an X360 for a combined total of $610 before tax.) Though I am fan of Tekken...
Anyway:
- Leo's a girl? For the longest time, I thought that she was Namco's Rock Howard clone. And she uses Hakkyoku Ken? Does that mean that she'll have the Stun Palm of Doom? (Akira from VF uses that style)
- So, Jin's ending is canon... Interesting... Who'd've thought that Nature Boy would have brought on WW3? Also, it turns out that Heihachi's appearance in T5 was completely non-canon as he MISSED THE WHOLE TOURNAMENT. ....and I though Paul had it rough in T2...
- Speaking of which: Bandai/Namco needs to make a spinoff entitled: Tekken: BRING IT ON, YA ALIENS! which consists of Paul flying around the universe, deathfisting anything in his path.

I believe she uses Baji Quan although Hakkyoku Ken is based off of that style so i guess there would be similiarities.

Well the changes sound interesting, I'm always in favor of any company trying to change it up. More of the same is always safe, but new stuff piques my interest more.

Rage just sounds like netsu power-up and it is a shit idea in a one on one format. Wasn't that great in TTT either imo.
Item enhancements would only be a good idea for a one player game but NOT for vs mode. Character advantage is enough, so whats the point of having item advantage?
Items providing new movements? What, like a full screen crouch dash? Mid-air Hayashida step? :lame: I think these proposed new movements should be as part of a specific character or characters.
I just find the idea of unlocking a moveset quite ludicrous
Everything else I like the sound of tho (would love to play on that deluxe cab). I especially like the idea of old moves redone because some characters (LAW) badly need it.

There are 40 slots on the Character select screen. Tekken 5 DR had 37 characters. If Jinpachi is gone and Mokujin isn't on the screen, that makes 35 from DR and the 3 new characters. So, 39 characters can be considered confirmed. How many characters is supposed to be in the game?

They each have their own throws too. I'm pretty sure people play eddy still because of the longer limbs.

[EDIT] My opinion of the graphics has changed since seeing the Kaz v Devil Jin pics. It does look really good. The lighting in particular is superb.

It looks like the "item specific" moves are just joke moves, like taunts, sorta like christie's 1,3,4 (?cmd?) the hand wave.
Edit: Just read the tekken blog again, and from the people who played at the show, the item moves are all just joke or taunt moves at least so far.

"Rage" mode does make me a little nervous, but it's not too bad. It's not like it hasn't been done in a fighting game before, and done successfully. As long as it's well balanced, I'll be fine. The item attacks also sound a bit sketchy, but if they are mainly just joke stuff, again, it's all good. I'm more excited than nervous about this game. DR has become one of my favorite 3D fighters out there, and if Namco keeps going in that direction, I'm all for it.
If they make rage mode so that there's actual consequences to using it (assuming that you have to activate it when your life is low) then it'd be good. I'm hoping for something like taking block damage or not being able to block at all or something along those lines. There's gotta be a downside to the damage bonus

* In T5DR, to be broadcasted on TEKKEN-NET live monitors you had to be Fujin ranked or above. For Tekken 6 it allows lower ranked matches to be broadcasted on the live network.
* Ranking starts at Beginner.

He doesn't seem to have lost anything, unlike Hei's 10f or whatever Twin Pistons(which he had the last standing ones, everyone else is WS now), and DJin losing everything that he didn't need in the first place.
Kaz was always solid in 5/DR, but now that DJ and Hei no longer outshine him in most categories, he moves up. Just like the nerfs changing the tiers in 5.1->DR.

I'm still skeptical about the Rage system, but it would be nice if players can select the health needed for it to activate(like MOTW's TOP system). Having it balanced is the main key though.
I'm REALLY glad DJ got toned down. All that extra stuff he got in DR that he didn't need was stupid.

The graphics look exceptional, perhaps better than VF5. I have faith that the gameplay will not suffer from T4 syndrome and they're really hinting at possible online play for PS3 with talks of clans and such.

It looks alot like T3 Jin with some mixes. Like the glove design has gone back to ball studs, like Kazuya used and Jin in T3.. And the pants have gone flame glow like his in T3.
Is it because he's in control of the Zaibatsu? I think thats the storyline they're using. Maybe popular demand brought it back.

MARSHALL LAW
* Law has a new low, high string. His right foot kicks the opponent on their shin, the left leg then throws out a high kick. This move is from the final fight in Bruce Lee’s “Way of the Dragon” (Also called “Return of the Dragon”.
* Law had a new costume that was similar to the one where Bruce Lee fought Sammo Hung in “Game of Death.”
* His item move is done with the nunchaku. The animation is similar to Maxi’s movement in Soul Calibur.
* You can use Law’s item move infinitely. When you do the move Law takes out the nunchuaku to do the hit attack then hides it afterwards.

Me too...but oddly enough, Law is my main character in the Tekkens, and Maxi is my main character in the Soul Caliburs...Namco never fucked up either of them from game to game...so as far as I'm concerned, I'm fine right now...as for everyone else...hopefully your game doesn't get royally fucked by the changes in T6...but we fighters always figure SOMETHING out in the end, right?

Seeing as Jin's Mission was to erase the EEEVVVVVVIIIILLLLL in T5, I doubt that's the case. I think the devil gene may have majority control now. It's the only way it will make since.

You don't see VF5 cabs period outside of Japan since Sega only has VF5 for LEASE within Japan only.
Apparently there is one in Chicago and Tempe(Sabre, confirmation?) and we *might* get one here in Seattle.

It does look a tad rusty but I'm confident it'll look great when it's finally released.

Ok, i'm by no means a Tekken player...I only used to play it at the arcade when I got bored and picked Law and I would just press the kick buttons and spam his flip kicks...rofl.
But anyways...I watched the preview video and it doesn't look like much of an upgrade. I think it's nice, but I was expecting something more spectacular, especially since it's on the PS3. And also, I don't know if this has been mentioned (I'm sure it has - sorry, I didn't read the thread) but damn, why are they highlighting everything? They overuse the saturation and lighting effects on this one - trying to make it brighter and shinier. Hurts a little on the eyes, imo.
^ Tekken's like that: Inch by inch.
At this point I'm kinda thinkin' that Tekken doesn't have a lot of room for growth/change (Tekken 4). People love the product and are hella attached, but at the same time, get tired of the same ol' same ol'.
The shiny shit is just some Next-Gen trend. Hopefully it'll go away eventually but I guess Namco (and everyone else) is trying to showcase their creations to the best of their ability. You'd be surprised how well a shiny object can catch someone's attention (or maybe you wouldn't). If it just looks normal/gritty people might pass on a game genre they probably weren't that interested in to begin with.

* The T5DR d/f+1,2 either has a new notation or has been removed.
* When you do d/f+1 in Tekken 6 you get the T5DR move d/f+1+2.
* d/f+1 into the high punch is still in. There is also a mid punch option. The low kick option was taken out.
* WS+2,1 and b+2 seem to have the same properties.
* New move. f,f+3 is a different type of mid spin-kick.
* New move. 2,1,1+2, on hit throws the opponent down. Third hit of the string can be cancelled.
* f+3 on CH is a different stun now, it can be broken. f+3 links into a high punch option.
* 1,2,3 is now gone.
* 1,2,d+4 is still in.
* The animation of f+2 has changed, f+2,3 second hit does the SS+3 kick from T5DR.

* f,N,3,4 has changed to a move similar to the Soviet Kick Combo.

The third hit of the string is no longer the move that looks like SS+1+2, but instead it is an elbow strike. The elbow strike knocks down on successful hit.
* f+2,3 has been changed. The first hit is now a short dashing elbow similar to Julia’s f,f+1. The elbow is the same as the last hit of the new b+2,1,1.
* The input to enter Hitman Stance(HMS) has been changed to d/b+3+4.
* New move, 3+4. It’s a crouching throw that does multiple kicks and slightly floats the enemy for a free followup.

You know, I really like the designs of the new characters, and I do see why Leo looks girly. Zafina or whatever is nice looking. She copies Anna though as she can fight in a long skirt.

Nina and Anna are two of my mains, so I'm very happy about these changes(especially Nina's low swipe, hopefully it adds more variety to her playstyle). As long as Anna's WS+2 isn't launch punishable then it's all good, cause u/f+3 needed to be nerfed.

So everyone has a 10 frame "punisher" now? And I put that in quotes because what the fuck are you gonna do with 1,2 punches like 90% of the cast has(which means that Mishimas still get bias w/112) What does that mean for Wang/Chang/Bear (f)1,1,1? Especially for Bear, who in most cases can't punish shit the same as anyone and is a huge fucking target?
I wish they'd make certain complex motion throws(CIRCUS ROLL) have better range/faster startup(JACK DRIVERS). GS and Mad Axes don't deserve to be the only ones. The Kings aren't the only ones who need specialized throw anis, they're not the only "grappler" types in the game.

Character select reminds me of KI and KI2. Ahhhh...Memories. I can't wait for this. Too fuckin bad the 1 hot arcade I used to frequent doesn't exist anymore. So $600 for a PS3 and another $70 + S&H for importing T6 seems OK now.

In the third vid. The guys go crazy at about 1:37. I can only imagine it's because the King player missed the CH juggle. Was King an 8F/9Fer in 5.0-DR? The jab in the juggle whiffed and then the player sounded pissed.

Umm, wow, I'm liking pretty much every single change made so far, except for the gimped Paul part, since I'm a Paul player.
*EDIT* Just got done reading the whole thing, some thoughts:
-Faster movement/side-steps sound very good.
-Same for strict juggle timing and lower combo damage in general.
-Less jab, jab, jab combos are a welcome addition in my opinion, even though it might gimp a few of my characters, that just means I'll have to switch up.
-From all the impressions, the game seems like it looks a lot better then people give it credit for, or screen shots are being able to let out.
-I don't care what people say, I think universal 10 frame jabs seem like it's going to be a welcome addition to the game indeed.

Yo after seeing Law in action, I'm a muh fuggin believer in what they were saying about him. New Law looks BEAST. I love the MUCH MORE Bruce like movements. I've got a new staple character it seems.
And once again it seems like Jack has been toned up and he'll be alot like where he was in DR. Kudos for making Jack playable over time Namco.

Just reading through all the stuff I missed. All I got to say is "wow" this game is sounding decent. Some of Bryans new moves look buff. Can't wait!!!

Man, T6 is going to own if there isn't a rigid top tier(fingers crossed). Law looks TITE. Namco needs to stop, I can't play with so many characters seriously.

Ugh, I just really wish they'd remove the flaming hands and just let the health bars blink to let you know that Rage is on, looks silly to me. After watching a few more vids I can safely say that I might pick up Law when this comes out, he looks sick.

Judging by the match vids I've seen so far, the new Rage system doesn't look like it will break the game. More or less, it looks like an automatic Netsu for someone getting their ass beat.
From what I've seen, it hasn't given anyone a clear cut advantage and I can tell it's somewhat of a comfort zone for the losing person and it's usage seems reliant on skill and smart tactics to make a comeback than something that can be abused.
As for the game playing like a hybrid of DR and TAG, my nut has busted at the thought of it. Nerfing all juggles and pretty much all combos in particular will make for a more balanced game (DR's air juggles needed some serious toning down).

From the vids, it seems similar to T3,T4, and TTT but that's not taking rage system into account. Low damage will certainly please the hardcore TTT players. I myself kind of like of the high damage in the T5 series. It doesn't seem too broken since you get 3/5 rounds.

What it seems like it's boiling down to is the juggle system will make you have to be more creative. Jab jab jab jab is technically doable but now it's not nearly as practical anymore and in some cases no longer possible. Takes alot of the "cheese" out of juggles. I still saw Jack and Law doing some nasty shit although it just doesn't extend to retarded and unconsequential extra hits.
Just time to step ya'llz game up. Basically.

The universal 10 frame jab might be better for balance but it just seems kind of stupid that a bear should be able to jab just as fast as a boxer.
The flaming hands does look kind of stupid, they should just make it like each character's supercharge or something at most.
Law's new animations are pretty sweet, but he is still orthodox which is bullshit. But I guess it would be weird playing a southpaw character.
The new changes make me scared, but I will welcome them. I just hope they won't do too much because a lot of DR actually works out.

I love logic. How would this same boxer be able to lift that bear off the ground with a simple uppercut? How would you be able to interrupt one of its swipes by punching faster?
What's funny is, that bear has been able to jab as fast as the boxer since T4.
