Is it worth getting an XBox, Live, CvS2, and an arcade pad all to play online?

I've really been wanting to get into CvS2, but no one near me plays. Is it pretty lag free and are there enough people on at all times for me to go and lay down a bunch of money for this game? Is it really worth it?

Damn it has been six years GOT damn!!! ha ha!! I still play alot! but every body is on hella old SF3 that shit is 8 years old and BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i normally always get good connections on cvs2. It IS much better than sf3 IMO. @ $20 bucks for the game and patience over weekend nights = fun.

lag free most of the time now, turn off any DL & uploads both parties,
choose blue stage, xbox and cvs2 pretty cheap now. great games with certain players, beats driving hours to an arcade sometimes, cvs2 is a classic, foolz will never quit
