A 'mysterious person' told me about the program. It is freeware, and looks decent. It even has individual card art (if you install it).

To play--

1. Run the .exe file and install it.
2. Open the YVDCSF6.zip file and put the yvd.set file into the folder that the exe installed into. It should be something like

"C:Programs/YVD/"
Put it in that MAIN YVD FOLDER-- NOT in the folder named "Sets"

3. Run the "Full Images Pack.exe" file

It has cards up to Cyber something something, so it uses the american type and not the jap one.

Since I don't want to check through thousands of cards just to choose 50-so cards in those, are there any sites where I can download pre-prepared decks so I can get an idea of the card, or will I have to pick the first 50-so cards, play a match, takes the next 50 more card (while watching for the banned cards) until I've finished checking all 3076?

I've been whining about the release of World Championship Tournament '07 in the DS thread for a minute now. Not to mention my convo with Sep and ranting about YGO Fansubs on YouTube in TOL 3.0. I'm nowhere near competitive, but I love the video games. I just need to get better. The closest solid deck I've bulit aside from a DDT Final Countdown stall was a Demise, KOA ritual deck. And the both of them need massive work.

From what I remember, all the restrictions are built-in to YVD. Of course, there's ways to get around it, but lets not worry about that. lol

But yea, make sure you snag the Image & Set packs from that site first.

Wait, Exiled Force does NOT need to be unrestricted from 2. That's bullshit. Breaker needs to stay also, there's just not enough solid trap removal, and he isn't broken at all. Everything else seems fine though. UDE isn't a fan of 2-3 first turn kills, so chain strike being restricted is no big surprise. Looks like Monarchs and Gadgets are going to be top of the heap.

(Ugh) I'm damn glad Mole was taken care of before we ever got ahold of it, but LOL @ Lily w/ Giant Rat unrestricted and GGPO Chain Strike. I don't understand why Nept is unrestricted with Lily & Force running rampid, but I'm an amateur. I'm not expected to understand these sort of things.

I think unrestricting Exiled and Lily doesn't make a difference. Gadgets just laugh at them. Rush decks make multiple Lilies extremely hard to play. Exiled topdeck isn't that great, leaves you at a disadvantage sometimes. Not too happy about snatch being back though...

Ive heard they have card from the Gradius games where you can just summon bosses and if one dies you can send out another. Can a gradius deck work? And could someone win with old cards or has the game changed too drastically over the years?

Make sure to extract the sets into the YVD folder itself rather than the Set folder. The images have to be extracted in the Image folder for everything to work properly, though.

Make sure you aren't putting the set file from www.scrollrack.com in your YVD's set folder, keep it in the main directory.

The only reason I can come up with for your situation is that the sets and images weren't extracted in the right folder. Why don't you just reinstall everything and reboot?

BEWD can be somewhat used well....REBD just sucks. BEWD has higher stats and better support, while REBD has like one support card.

Blue Eyes White Dragon

Level 8

3000 ATK
2500 DEF

It has Paladin of white dragon, Burst stream of destruction, and kaibaman support cards.


Red-Eyes Black Dragon

Level 7
2400 ATK
2000 DEF

It has red-eyes black chick, red-eyes darkness dragon, and inferno fireblast for support. It also has easier fusions than Blue-Eyes.

The breakdown is like this: Red-Eyes black chick and Kaibaman are both extremely weak monsters that can be tributed to special summon their respective dragons from your hand. Burst stream of destruction and inferno fireblast are both spell cards that require their respective dragon to be face up on the field. Inferno fire blast does 2400 direct damage while burst stream of destruction destroys all monsters on the opponent's side of the field. If you use either of those effects the dragon you used the card effect with cannot attack that turn.

Finally, the two different cards: Paladin of White Dragon and Red-Eyes Darkness dragon. Paladin of white dragon is a level 4 ritual monster which has a card effect that instantly destroys face down defense monsters it attacks. Additionally, it can be tributed to summon a blue-eyes from your hand or deck (kaibaman can only summon one from your hand) but if you summon a blue-eyes with that effect he cannot attack that same turn he was summoned. Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon is a card you have to tribute a face-up Red-Eyes Black Dragon on your field to summon. It gains 300 atk for every dragon monster in your grave.

Overall I think it's obvious that as of now the Blue-Eyes white dragon theme is superior to the Red-Eyes one. Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon effect does not justify it's use (Just slap on a axe of despair on your Red-Eyes if you want to beef him up more reliably). Also Red-Eyes cannot beat the average level 5 monster (2400 attack, 1 tribute monsters) while Blue-Eyes will probably not be matched in battle.

Also although inferno fire blast's 2400 damage is nice, you can't build a deck around that. Blue-Eyes has two monsters to summon him, and a card that's equivalent to raigeki. Don't get me wrong, neither of these two are tier 1 decks, but a Blue-Eyes deck is a whole tier above the Red-Eyes one as of now IMO. So if you're going to build a deck around either one then go for Blue-Eyes. Good cards for either deck are the average dragon support cards like stamping destruction and dragon's rage.

Yea horus is pretty good. If you have level 6 or 8 and royal decree then it may just be over right there. Paladin is a great card to use with manju of ten thousand hands, he's one of the few practical ritual monsters. Also it's not like him+book of moon is the only way to destroy high level monsters, paladin+swords of concealing light is another great way to clear the field with his effect.

I'm thinking of putting a new one together I hear that there are some tribute monsters that can be normal summoned at the cost of half there attack.

for a skill drain deck you should run:
Majestic Mech Ohka
Fulliser dragon
GAF
EGAF
its fun when you add Final attack orders, but then thats too many traps you need to maintain and protect on the field.

man fuck Horus lol once he's out (w/ Royal Decree) its really tough to get rid of him. Since no magic works, no trap works, you pretty much have to have a good monster combination just like in the show to get rid of him.

I've been trying to get back into it, but I quit years ago, a few boosters after the advanced format was introduced. my deck is pretty dated, but I'm still proud of it. I went to the light of judgment sneak preview and pulled a couple ultras and an ultimate (which was only a shinier version of the promo card -_-).

me and my friends started our own format where we allow banned cards. we were tired of getting owned by kids and their dark armed dragons and DMoCs and whatever powerful combos are popular these days... so we changed things up to make it interesting, at least against each other.

anyone want to play world championship 2008 for the DS, let me know.

nah I'm not a huge fan of banned cards. It's fun to have/use but it turns the game into something thats not what yugioh is all about. I had quit the game a long time ago (actual cards not yvd) but my friend was still playing and he stopped playing when he realized everyone around him and people at the top of the tourneys was using nothing but beatdown decks comprised of the best monsters and best standalone magic/trap

^It's always stupid when a new expansion is released, because tourneys would just be full of people running 3 of everything that obviously should be limited to 1 at the most. Like 3 Gracefuls, 3 Chaos Emperor Dragons, etc. So fucking retarded. Also generally you're playing against little kids, who usually will try to cheat, and it's like, do you really want to make a big deal out of it? My friend dragged me to a few, I really should have been able to win them too, but I felt stupid the entire time.

I still think the best deck is control, since it doesn't really matter what is released afterwards, a control deck will still be able to neutralize it. Unfortunately my deck is lost or has been thrown away. I guess it doesn't matter since I wouldn't ever play again anyway, but in terms of collection and sentimental value I liked it. Pretty much every single card I had was shiny. Right now I think virtually all of the cards I used are banned or limited to 1. I played maybe 4 years ago or so, actually maybe more than that.

Fuck it's been awhile.

The GBA or DS games are probably better to have now than the cards themselves.

oh god, control decks. Before all that Chaos crap (which was when I quit YGO) I used to run Yata/Relinquished w/ Warriors incl Don Zaloog (it was a JP Ultimate rare btw :D) People were absolutely blindsided w/ Relinquished, theyre like wtf? Relinquished? ahahah I have 3 of those, thats old stuff. Then next thing they know, I absorb their monster, summon Yata and its over. lolololol, either that, or ill summon Don hit them guaranteed and start picking their hand apart.

I got out of that a little after the Chaos cards. I was the only guy to run 2 morphing jars when they were extremely rare. That was my favorite deck, I would use book of moons, book of taios(or something like that), card destruction, and a few other cards that got rid of my opponent's cards.

At first they'd be like "ok, why would you give me MORE cards?" And after a bit they'd notice real fast that they don't get to use them. :rofl: Good times, fyi, those morphing jars fetched me a good price and I made close to $700 on selling them along with some exodia sets.
