I own Garou: Mark of the Wolves for the PS2 (JP), and it is on DVD-ROM.

In terms of overall gameplay and appearances, it's quite faithful to it's arcade counterpart. There are obvious (Guard Cancel text removed) and subtle (gamespeed is slightly different) differences, but I would compare it to 3rd Strike for Arcade and PS2. Differences? Plenty. Major, game-altering ones that make the console version completely unplayable? No.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 (US) is on CD, donno about other regions.

Cool, didnt know that.

the blue disks are the cds. that helps explain why early ps2s were too retarded to read em, they were an entirely different format.

sony releasing a system that couldnt play the CD versions of the games was even more retarded

Wasn't there some word that SNK was going to be releasing Garou state-side? I can't remember where I heard it though. I imported it back when it first came out, but I'd definitely buy it again just to support SNK (plus it's a great game).

* Anyone notice Difficulty Level 8 on the PS2 port is different than the arcade? Seems in the arcade, the AI is the same as Level 7, but cpu opponents do more damage. On the PS2 Level 8's AI seems improved, but there is no increase in damage. Either that or I'm just crazy insane. Anyone care to confirm this...

Hmmm how are juggles in the PS2 port? Can you still juggle off of Hotaru's QCB+K in the air?

Just checked just for you AG. In the corner Hotaru's air qcb+K, juggle with kick super works. Same with B. Jenet's air d+K (3 hits), juggler with kick super. I'm telling ya, PS2 is spot on.

Yeah, you won't feel the difference. I'm not saying it's 100% arcade perfect, just that there are, say, 1% if not 0.1% of the garou players that can really feel a difference and even then it doesn't feel bad.

Ah good, so basically if ur good with the Set 1 Garou u use for MAME, the PS2 ver. is good for you too right? Thanks.

Pretty much. From what I've seen on youtube it's a near perfect port and, aside from the quite significant speed boost it received, I didn't notice any significant change gameplay-wise, though if memory serves me right you can do a couple of crazy juggles you can't if you play the MVS version, but don't quote me on this. If you're coming from the arcades or MAME you should be fine, it is a good port.

i have the ps2 import and Dc version and i would say they're pretty much the same. though i don't play the arcade version that much so i can't really compare it to the arcade.
