Fuuka Taisen: A Mai Hime-themed fighter

Judging by the fact that doujin fighters are getting quite a bit of play here, as well as "loli" games seemingly being okay as well, I thought it was all good and fine to post this here, especially since it hasn't already been posted, it seems.

Any way, as you can see this is another interesting doujin game that's set to release some time this spring, with the art for the characters being done by the same bloke who does the Megaman Zero/ZX character art.

What makes this game interesting, first and foremost, is the graphical quality, in the youtube videos below, you'll see that the backgrounds themselves are 3D, but that's not all. You'll also see the girls fly around and rip up up parts of the scene in a dynamic fashion when they're sent careening through the dirt! :wgrin:

What's also interesting is the whole "Child" dynamic. It gives off a sort of "JBA Stand" thing, but I'm sure that's just what I can conclude this early in the game.

If there's anything that I may not like all that much from the outset, it's the speed. It's a bit slow for my liking, but pals of mine have said that when you play against other people, it does become quite frenetic.

Any way, I'll be keeping an eye out for this game.

If that's some how NOT Nakayama's art for Fuuka Taisen, then a good job to whomever jocked his style. But it really shouldn't serve as a surprise, Nakayama's had a history of working on different "loli-licious" doujin games before, both mild, and much more hardcore stuff.

I got this demo back when it was just released. Pretty fun Demo, but I can't wait for the full release. Really can't judge a game by it's demo, specially fighters which seem to change a lot as the full release nears(even that is prone to change). I am sure this game will kick ass, being a Mai Hime/Otome fan I am sure it will.

Mai-HiME is a series where girls summon creatures to help them fight, and have somewhat magical attacks.

Mai-Otome is a related series, except here the virgin girls summon flashy outfits that act as battle armor.

The title for Mai-Otome is actually written the same as Mai-HiME, except with the kanji for "otome" overlapping the hyphen. (Because of the kanji, it is sometimes called Mai-ZHiME.)

Agreed on the whole "can't really judge by the demo" notion. Even so, I'm overall liking the direction that this game is taking, and I can't wait to see its official release.

Could be, also seems like Arika from Mai Otome will be in the game, based by the silouhettes I could see in the main page, I could kind of tell some of the characters that were gonna be in it. I am not sure as to how she would play.

I just can't wait for this game, this is the doujin game I've been waiting for like forever, I can't wait until April, I want it now!

i did see the pic (http://blogimg.goo.ne.jp/user_image/4e/b2/c515160f504773c6ff4d64c73401816d.jpg) i think i he was talking about, though. from my rough estimation, i am almost certain that the four blurred figures in the back starting from right are: alyssa, miyu, fumi, haruka just by looking at their height, hair color and placement with some other characters. two blurred figures from the left must be: shiho, shizuru.

the only figure i'm not sure of there is the third from left (or fifth from right), which seems to have a brown-ish hair. considering that there are no other central hime character left out in that picture now, there's a high possibility that it may indeed be arika from mai-otome.

I personally think HiME > Otome. But Otome is more of a fanservice show. Lots of cameos from many different series. I'm surprised Sunrise went on to producing Zwei as OVA sequel, but I'm sure the HiME franchise will continue after Zwei too.

By the way, have you guys seen pics of the new collector's box Bandai USA is going to release with vol. 7 of HiME? It's just fucking awesome.

the development for the game still seems to take for another couple of months, according to the developer's journal.

in the latest entry (3/18/07), the developer says that they're in middle of adding new specials and supers, as well as "hidden elements" to the game.

the playable version is slated to be available at natsucomi (C73, i think?). apparently, the guy in charge of the entire development has been carrying the game around to mai-hime/mai-otome related events, but he hasn't really revealed much more than that.
