I drive a 94 Mazda 626. May not look like much, but she's got it where it counts.

I'm actually thinking of buying a new car this year though. I'm thinking a 2003 or 2004 Mazda6, but I'm willing to consider anything that is an upgrade of my car performance-wise.

ninjedit:

my gas mileage is horrendously bad though. Mostly cause it's a V6 and I like to go fast.

Oldest car here probably 93 ford escort - still getting around 30 MPG right now during nights. Day time I get less - guess I have a vampire car.

Unfortunately, a year or two after that pic was taken, I was rear-ended, and if fucked a lot of things up. I got the frame damage repaired, but there's something wrong with my electrical system now. I still blame Chrysler "engineering" for most of my car problems, though.

The bimmer is my cousin's old (I don't know what year. 92 or 93, probably) 540i, with home-made angel eyes, among some other things. Personally, I only like internal mods, and I think my cousins share the same sentiment to a certain degree, so that car is/was a sleeper.

It's basically a camry with a nice looking shell on it  the handling is excellent, but I used to drive an 02 jetta turbo and it would smoke the shit out of this car. the turn radius is fine. The finer parts of the car is the interior and the exterior for me. it s luxury for a relatively cheap price.

For the time being i get around with my moms accord which is pretty solid but half the time she needs it for work so more often then not metrocard FTMFL!!!!...it's like $16 a week and for me that's alot lol especially considering i'm still looking for work.

Lemme derail this nice thread even further by asking if it's a good idea to post amy resume on a jobsite like monster.com i wanna get a "real" job like maybe some kinda fileclerk at a lawfirm or something like that any suggestions srk?

How much did she spend on the fit? I'm buying my sister a car and I don't really want to spend too much or get her anything that she might fuck up since she's a idiot.

We got the Sport package for the Fit, I think it cost us about 17k-18k after everything (tax, tag, license, additional warranties and crap). I believe these cars are still in somewhat high demand (there's waiting lists at some dealerships), so you have to shop around a bit. According to wiki, the base price for the Fit is 13,850, with the sport package adding another $1320.

The only thing that I would complain about is the gas tank, it only carries like 10 gallons and she drives a lot for her job so she has to gas up a lot... but I'm probably just spoiled to the fact that the Hybrid gets so much better gas mileage. She could drive about 300 miles per tank, my hybrid can drive almost 500 :-D I guess its not much of a valid complaint though cause that's probably a lot better than other cars. Its a really great car though, the interior is really nice, its got some decent power, and its pretty roomy.

Yeah the head gasket is a bitch, I had my head rebuilt and slapped on an HKS 1.2 mm metal head gasket. After that, it runs like champ. After all it's still a toyota.

I paid 3k for it, and can smoke damn near everything I encounter. I can't help but laugh when I smoke fools with their girlfriends in their cars.

My car is a 1992 Honda Civic VX. The damn vehicle is 15yrs old, but so far i just put 160k miles on it. The reason why i luv this baby? :lovin: Because it can give me 340 miles on a 9 gallon tank if i drive in 4th/5th gear alot and i dont go over 55mph. Pretty impressive since its engine only has 92hp max, but oh well, 40mpg is where the luv is at. When the summer comes, im not too worry about gas price. Sadly though, my car is only meant as a 2 passenger vehicle and when i load 4 people into the car, lets just say you can see the motor struggling to get up hill.

Plus i heard the hybrid cars dont really give 55mpg so to truely make sure you can get 40mpg, get a weaker car. :wgrin: VTEC-E for TFW.

She's not the fastest car around, but I wouldn't call her a slouch, either. At 140 hp, and a curb weight nearly equal to a Mustang, it's a wonder it's even as quick as it is. It's a five-speed and redlines at 7,000. I admittedly bought it because of how it looks. It's a real blast to drive, though.

They dont make anything to make a natural aspirated Celica as fast as this Integra. Plus this Integra doesn't have internals or cams/intake manifold/port+polish yet, with full upgrades I can hit low 12's, and with a H2B kit and B16 transmission, I could possibly hit 11's or 10's without turbo, in full race form (stripped/slicks). They also don't make any clean lip kits for Celicas, everything is big and wild.

BTW, I'm already at a 12.8....10's isn't too far away.

I miss the the 6 speed, sound and interior though.

I probably mentioned it in this thread, but I have a 98 Prelude that I'm working on... First Air Runner (Air Runner brand air suspension) installed Prelude in the USA. I got a new kit and a paint job, but will probably paint it again before I enter Hot Import Nights. Ohhh, you got pics? They really are sharp looking cars.

It's a damn shame too. That car is damn near mint condition, and all it does is sit in the parking lot because the Ford transmission is garbage :annoy:

I pampered that fucking car for our whole life together, and I get royally shit on. I get so pissed, but fool is me since I'd probably buy a third one.

nah, I don't have any pics, but it looks pretty much exactly like yours. Seems like I've had better luck with mine, as I haven't had any major problems with it. That isn't to say that I haven't dropped a lot of money on it

No major problems here either. For it to be so old, the engine has held up very well. Got a few new parts (MAF, IAC, Oil pressure switch), but nothing major. And it's a peppy little thing too. Zoom Zoom. Too bad the auto tranny can't keep up

A slight jerk from first to second is considered normal for the 626. My 93 did it, and my 96 does it when it wants to shift. It's just the design.

For the 4 cylinder tranny, turns out the internal pump is faulty, which causes overheating and a break-down of the TCC. If you haven't already, you should definately consider having a tranny cooler installed, and replacing the fluid with synthetic. This would have worked for me if my radiotor had not been leaking.

I wanted a 6 too for the longest time - until I test drove one. I don't know what the deal is, but almost every car I've driven (except for a '99 Camry and my 626) has a windshield slant problem.

I'm not a big person by any means, but when I sat in that 6 I felt like I was suffocating. The windshield was inches from my face and my head almost touched the roof, and I'm only 5'3.

I'm like, wtf happened here? I could wear a tophat in my car and still have room to move. I couldn't even see over the stupid steering wheel because it doesn't tilt down as far as mine does.

Oddly enough, the 3 has more room for the driver. Too bad it looks like ass on the outside.

It's certainly a nice car, but there were definitely reliability issues. I had a few minor problems, like the plastic bar holding the sunshade breaking (because it's probably a Chrysler part) or my steering wheel computer controls' lights dimming out. The big one, though, was that I somehow had a valve burn out at around 55K miles, which is way early for something like that to happen.

Honestly, if you're looking to get a Mercedes, you should wait until after Daimler drops Chrysler.

And then when that breaks down in a month, get another import.

Um, yeah because domestics ALWAYS fail right? Like my 95 Mustang with 150k on it? Like my old 88 Cutlass Cierra with 200k+ on it? Like my old 66 Mustang that also gave me very little problems considering it was a 30+ year old car? Or my old 97 Probe even that gave me no shit until after I wrecked it? BTW outside of transmission work on the Olds and the Probe after I crashed it I put NO major money into any of my rides.

Please this whole "import vs domestics" quality thing is stupid and largely circumstantial and anecdotal. If imports were so awesome Toyo and Honda etc. wouldn't need to offer warranty and wouldn't have service departments.

BTW I'm still wondering where all the 450+ N/A import motors are.

And it can randomly die on me? I trust an American car as far as I can throw it.

Anyway for the US vs Jap quality. You started it, face whats coming.

And you'll see me in an American car when Ford brings it's Falcon Typhoon XR6 to these shores. And that aint happening no time soon.

Ford's thinking:

"Lets build this cool looking inline 6 turbo RWD car, and make a v8 optional, and use it for the Austrailian market only. We can use the Fusion boring ass car, and FiveHundred even more boring car to the states. And for Europe lets give them the Escort Cosworth, and the Focus RS, and let's completely re-design the Focus 2 times, while keeping teh US with the original Focus from 99, without an SVT model or turbo model, while the Euro Focus is in the 3rd generation, with Volvo engineering and a 5 banger turbo. Sweet."

I guess there is the Mudstain GT or Shelby, but they suck.

GM has what that anyone would drive? Sky Redline, Solstice GT?

What about Chrysler? Nothing?

Yeah, that's the only thing about it, that it'll be viewed as a chick car, but arg, hardtop convertable, only a 2 seater, and I only listen to sports talk AM radio! The main thing that is tempting me is that it's a hardtop convertable (yeah I said that already) and it starts at $21k! I haven't test drove yet so I'm still not sure if it'll feel like a death trap or not which will also play a factor. I'm still debating arg...

the best thing to do is too look for a private motorcycle training and safety school/class...it usually takes a weekend but you come out of it with your motorcycle riding endorsement for you license..i myself learned how to ride when i was younger so that helped alot, but sport bikes are different, massive horse power in a 360 pound machine, so it takes some getting used to but like i said the best thing to do is check out a private class if your interested in learning how to ride :wgrin:

It has to do with drag and weight distribution, which affects how the car handles. One of the things I really like about German cars (although I admit that I'm fairly biased in this regard) is their low center of gravity. It just makes the car feel more solid to me.

Anything really, but not as cheap as an air freshner. Internal mod, external mod, whatever... just looking for suggestions.

For your Corolla S (well, for most cars really), the best 3 exterior mods you can do to make a dramatic difference in its looks is getting window tints, new rims, and suspension springs to slightly lower your vehicle. Those are my recommended "birthday gifts" for your car. Performance mods won't do much for your specific car but make it sound noisier.

I have a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire coupe. It's cute but I hate it. If I don't set my cruise at like 60 on the freeway it burns gas like a bitch, something like 20 mpg. I've managed to put about 15,000 miles on it in a year and a half though... it's done me well. I want to get rid of it... something about it irritates me. Probably the fact that it's not a 3000GT.

Well, I guess it just depends on your situation what you drive as far as American vs Foreign. Personally, my dad is an official AC/Delco parts supplier, and because of that, I can get GM parts for about half the price of what anyone else can. So I bought this 97 GM pickup a few years back that some rich kid ran out of oil, put an engine in it and I could sell it right now for more than I put in it. Since I have had it the only thing I have had to do to it is replace the water pump, power steering pump, belts, hoses, and tires. And that is after having the thing almost 7 years now.

I have an 02' Pontiac Grand AM SE Coup. It looks almost exactly like this GT: http://research.cars.com/go/crp/photoLarge.jsp?makeid=40&modelid=378&year=2002&myid=860&acode=USB20POC041A0&photoSize=&photoWidth=690&aff=national

Only difference being there is no black bar in the center and it doesn't have GT written on it of course. I was driving a '93 Eagle Talon but it broke down on me a couple of weeks ago so I went car shopping last week. I like my new car but I payed a few thousand more that I should have...

Maybe you can help me answer a question I've had for a long time.

Why do people want to "shave" their cars?

I see you took the SER Spec-v and Nissan emblem off of your car. I always thought people should proudly display the badging of their cars instead of trying to hide what their car is.

Can anyone recommend me some good first cars? My budget is small (4k and under) so I was thinking of a used early 2000s Hyundai Elantra or Galant. I need something reliable and easy, nothing flashy. Any suggestions?

I drive either a Nissan Primera or a Volvo S60. Normally the Primera though. Wife has the keys to the Volvo.

Evo cost twice as more. But if it was me, I wouldn't settle for anything less then an Evo if I would get a vehicle made by Mitsubishi. I think my next vehicle will be either an STI or Evo.

Maruti Alto is a good fuel efficient car. Fuel consumption directly depends upon the car maintenance, driver and driving habits. From a five years old Alto Vxi (1100 cc) I take over 17 kms without AC and around 15 kms with AC on city roads.

I'm currently driving a 2008 Mercury Mariner hybrid. I'm getting around 25-30 MPG with this beast, and it's no small car. Overall I'm happy with it.

Just wish it had Sync. It had every other special feature except that. Kinda bugs me.

Sil80? =P Just a term when you put a S13 front end on 180sx/240sx fastback. About 500 or so were made and sold in Japan, they weren't even produced by Nissan.
