I use Youtube about 90% of the time.
Now that I have a paypal I'll probably start buying DVDs. I bought EVO 04 off of a friend.

abuse youtube while it's free
(they have to make money somehow to keep those servers running)
youtube sucks cuz i like my videos fullscreen and youtube full hurts my eyes
torrents would be better if they had constant seeds and peers (effing leechers)
i like preppys page
and fuck buying dvds i dont have a credit card

Torrents are good, but if I want a quick fix, Youtube is the answer.

In the days before SRK.com and all this new file sharing/video sites we had to buy copied VHS tapes from another alt.games.sf2/#capcom member. Omni was the biggest distributor back in the day. Oh how it would feel waiting for a new tape to arive. To this day I still have all my VHS tapes that i purchased off Omni. And because of that I still like to buy what is available.
Downloading and all that just doesn't give me the same reward as waiting for it to come in the mail. It is better for me to have to wait for the UPS man to come and bring me my "Proof-of-Geeknes".

Youtube sucks! :arazz: I'd appreciate if you guys just stuck to forums and non-Youtube style video display. Been trying to start my site for like...5 years now? :wonder:

I've used all of those but I prefer direct downloads (i.e. Preppy/Combovideos) and DVDs to most of the other stuff but sometimes you just have to use torrents or filesharing programs. Anything BUT YouTube please! Even though I understand it is the most viable option for most people to host their videos (those that don't have any web hosting) and such but the quality is just plain horrible. And I believe they limit the length too and that sucks also.

I'm too lazy to wait for full downloads and I don't like videos clogging up space on my computer, so I voted for youtube even though the video quality is usually poor.

I was really surprised to see torrents not winning. It's the most efficient way to send a large file, what's the deal here? If your internet access randomly cuts out, you won't have to restart the download like you do with some regular download services. Also, YouTube is nice, but you can't watch a video unless you have internet access when you want to watch the vid, and I feel that's a significant problem.
My second choice was DVDs.

Youtub when I don't care about quality. Otherwise, I'm a direct download man (a la ComboVideos)

Youtube is great, but sometimes a download is better for when you want a saved copy and are too lazy to save it off youtube. Torrents are ok for larger things, but they are pretty much just an alternative to download.

torrents followed closely by youtube
torrents, if used instead of direct downloads, for somewhat larger files, is generally faster and saves more bandwidth for the host (for instance ksk), but is otherwise kind of slow.
youtube wins because it requires zero space on your hard drive and theres a built in search function, but loses because you *need* a somewhat decent connection. however the quality is much worse. marvel is almost incomprehensible on youtube, so if marvel is going to be distributed, use something else. most other games are watchable however.
direct downloads basically are A) slower than some torrents, B) don't have a search feature, but are simply hassle free and higher quality than youtube.
buying creates a physical dependency on the item (if the dvd gets into the hands of a dog bye bye money) and also costs money.
filesharing is flat out awful and outdated.
i voted youtube and torrents, respectively.

My second choice was DVDs.
I think some people are wary of how the DVDs were torrented last time, with the final discs coming out so late, and being seeded oddly.
The cons of a torrent is that a torrent can eventually die, or become less convenient than other forms if the number of seeds drops. Youtube keeps files for a good amount of time (I have no immediate knowledge on how long they keep something, but I can't recall of a video I've watched that has been dropped from the site.) and jumps in convenience factor since it's streaming. The file quality isn't that bad, if these were videos of a famous painter painting a mural, sure the high quality would be needed, but we are so intimately aware of how these games look a degrade in quality tends not to affect me at all.
So I'd go youtube first, since to me it's the most convenient, direct download second, since it's not dependent on seeds, and torrents third. I love torrents as much as the next person, use them all the time, but I've also been bit by having a large torrent die on me in the final hours. There are also ways to download files off youtube, if you wanted to keep them.
As for being able to restart downloads, there are many download managers that would allow you, in many cases, to resume downloading from where you left off. (Firefox even allows it in certain cases.)

Torrents suck. You guys are used to BT the latest movie with thousands of people helping you get the files. When you have a specific video from a local tourney that will get 100 downloads, Torrents are not practical.
Downloads are much, much better, faster, easier, guaranteed and what not. If there's a bandwidth problem, like it happened with Preppy's, then You Tube is the way.
Free downloads are the best IMO, but You Tube is much better than payed downloads. Payed downloads have interest only to people who already play those games. To grow the community, we need to spread stuf like the Soo vs Wong video. From this viewpoint, You Tube is miuch better than free downloads too (much easier to find and watch for new players)

Torrents arnt practical but sometimes the only way to get rare stuff. I manly use it though cause i download huge files. Download ftw. Youtube if all else fails.
Downloading may be slow but it is the way to go. U dont have to wait on seeders so its better then Torrent already. It goes slow but u dont need the best connect making it far better then Youtubes bad load time. Filesharing is a no-no and Buying only if i really have to. Btw im guessing other is stealing right?

Youtube's great for quick browsing, because of the huge selection and fast-loading videos. And if I find something I like, chances are I can download or buy a higher quality version somewhere, and I'll know what to look for.

Youtube, I'll only download if I really want to watch it.
Accessibility and ease of youtube beat out the bad quality and off sync sound.
If It's a video i know i will like i will download it, but if It's something im not that interested in i prefer to watch it on Youtube instead of downloading.

same here. so I would definetly rather have vids by torrents or downloads, youtube is good and all, but watching a fullscreen marvel match on youtube is suicide...

Filesharing! WinMX forever! :D Sadly, the servers are dying by the day and there's nothing to do about it. Soon enough there won't be anymore superplays, everything will just be DVDs. :(
So i vote Bittorent, cuz downloading DVD9s is SEXAY. On 2nd term is Downloading, but webhosting expenses kill that.

I'm buying now that I have Paypal too.
Torrents really are a last resort , and MVC and GG of youtube is horrible to me. Direct DLs like Combovideos.com are great though. If it were up to me I'd only download HQ vids, but I'd miss out on a lot of great matches that way

If there's a bandwidth problem, like it happened with Preppy's, then You Tube is the way. Back in full force in three days. Premiums know what's up.
My site got temporarily jacked because it was hosted by morons. It's all being betterized.
Free downloads are the best IMO, but You Tube is much better than payed downloads. Payed downloads have interest only to people who already play those games. To grow the community, we need to spread stuf like the Soo vs Wong video. From this viewpoint, You Tube is miuch better than free downloads too (much easier to find and watch for new players)The only good thing about the Flash video sites are the community aspects, which no one else has really successfully replicated yet.
The nasty thing about Flash video sites is that low scale commercial projects get instantly jacked, which potentially impedes video sales even further than their already small numbers.
We do need rating/commenting systems for the videos. The CV.com system is a good start, but we need ratings to bubble up the hidden gems.
I showed Jeff a mock-up of a new tool I want to build, but I'm busy enough that it's just kind of a kludge right now, as opposed to a solution. Still, should be fairly sweet/fun compared to what we have now.

Totally depends on the vid? 3 minute combo vid? Download or YouTube. Hour long tournament series? Torrent or DVD.
