SFIII: Third Strike OR Capcom vs. SNK 2?!

I can't decide which one's better... SFIII has great gameplay and quality to it, but Capcom vs. SNK 2 has so many characters! In your opinion, which is your favorite between the two and why? Are there any other 2D fighters that you like better than this? I think Samurai Showdown V, Capcom Fighting Evolution, KOF 2000-2001, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 all sucked.

I dont think any of those games you mentioned suck. The best 2d fighters are cvs 2 and sf3 tho. Which is better? hmm sf 3 has killer killer animation. Cvs 2 gameplay is perfect. I dunno lol.

Definitely CvS2, but not just for the fact that I can play that game at a decent skill level.

I also think the tiers are a bit much more rigidly defined in SFIII than CvS2.

If you're looking at a game to play seriously, I would suggest "Street Fighter 3: Third Strike." It's the last version of "Street Fighter 3" and is a really fun game with a good pace and solid gameplay.

"Capcom vs SNK 2" is a really solid game, but I always find myself getting bored of it pretty quickly. It doesn't seem to be as popular as "3S," either.

This is just my suggestion and I'm sure there are plenty of people who will say the opposite.

I've been playing Third Strike longer, and I enjoy it. However, I much prefer Capcom vs SNK 2. My favorite fighting game was Marvel vs Capcom 2 for years, but I've come to like games that are a bit more...tame, we'll say. However, if Marvel vs Capcom 2 is at one end of that spectrum, TS is certainly at the other. The small roster and number of specials usually leaves me wanting more. And as a result, I never end up playing it for more than a half hour at a time, these days. CvS 2 can hold my interest for an hour or two, easily.

I play KOFXI more than any other game lately, to offer some perspective.

Actually the reason no one debates over the games is because its pointless, if we had a legitimate "marvel sucks" thread you'd get death threats for your opinion. SRK is a community dedicated to (2-D) Fighting games so why would we nit pick and divide a community about some random guy who thinks his thread special? i mean how long did it take for people to accept SSBM (people still dont) the SSBM thread would go on for pages about this and that its pointless.

I prefer sf3. My only real beef with the game is that the game just gets repetitive. Last showdown there was at least 1 ken on every tv. I know denjin ryu has been making the rounds but the game is still losing its luster.

CVS2 is just crap. sure it can be played at a high level but so much of the game is just sloppy. invisible extended hit boxes, rc's, jump cancels, crazy glitches, not to mention all kinds of things that work with no real reason for it. revolving around sprite issues, not to mention all kinds of shitty matchups. Plus ive seen people play cvs2 at a high level and have absolutely no sense of how to play fighters. if you ever see Dr. No(previously know as ultimate czar) you'll know what i mean.

CVS2 feels like it was slopped together in like a week.

Capcom will never do better than Vampire Savior if you ask me.

If I had to pick only one... it would be CvsSNK2. They are both great, but CS2 has cooler characters, and a hell of a lot more things to do (grooves, starts). There are also more characters that are real threats than in Third Strike. You can take some scrubby characters, give them the right groove, and they're serious contenders.

I never really liked any of the VS. series by Capcom, I always stick to 3s, SF2:Turbo, and KOF(including MoTW). Capcom vs. SNK 2 is just to slow paced for me, it just felt like a buffed up MUGEN. I'll play it every now and then, but it just doesn't have that "meatiness" to it.

I enjoy Third Strike more, but you do get sick of seeing Shoto's and Chun's everywhere(I've never played a good Yun). I pull out CvS2 because everyone I know has a basic concept of playing, but with 3s my cat could probally play better.
