Awesome game. Definitely worth a full runthrough, even if it was on an emulator.

Games that aren't over $50?
TMNT IV: Turtles in Time
Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Killer Instinct
Street Fighter II: Turbo
Megaman X
MK II
MK III
Robocop vs. Terminator
I want that Yoshi's Island.
the price doesn't matter, as long as i'm almost guaranteed to enjoy the game. i would pay an arm and a leg for mario rpg (if i didn't already own it), for example, because its more than worth it.

Seiken Densetsu 3:The best Snes game IMO,but to each his own I guess. There is a total of about 6 characters each with their own ending and there are 3 men to a team. The game takes around 30 or more hours to complete.Me myself I have never had the time to complete the game all the way through.
EarthBound:Great RPG with a lot of subtle references(sp?)to drugs
Link TTP,Most of the Mario games,Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu...
There are TOO many games to go all the way down the list. The Snes was made of beast.I can't believe so many classics all came out back then.
will i be able to play seiken densetsu on a U.S. snes, though? sounds like i might need to get that on the computer or cop a famicom...

Seiken Densetsu 3 only came out in Japan so I am assuming you need a Japanese Snes to play it(Unless Japanese Snes games back then were compatible for American Super Nintendo's).
I would just get an emulator to tell you the truth since it is easy to find the rom of that game patched

Pre - My Video Game Dark Ages (from 6th grade to about 10th grade, I wasn't allowed to have any video game systems) I had a beastly SNES collection. I had most/all of the RPGs mentioned in here...
Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Link to the Past, Earthbound, Final Fantasy II & III (a.k.a. IV & VI) and probably a few others. Too bad my old man sold all the games I had on account of the shitty grades I was getting in school...
I managed to get another one in 10th grade, but I didn't feel like getting all the 50+ dollar games...plus it's not like you could find them at Gamestop or anything anymore...
I do have:
DKC 1 + 3
F-Zero
Link to the Past
Mega Man X
Star Fox
Super Mario All-Stars & World
Super Mario Kart
Yoshi's Island
and that's it. :(
SNES for life. It's the first system I ever owned!
well...i dunno, for me its kinda like i can't enjoy the game fully unless its on the tv and i'm playing on an snes pad. i know it sounds weird, but...
like i couldn't enjoy ffVI advance normally, because of that. even on the computer, its not the same. what i'll probably do is get like 3 or 4 games along with a "new" snes and call it a day. the rest of the games listed in this thread i'll probably end up getting on the comp.
i'm just trying to narrow the list down to 3 or 4 games that i feel like i would enjoy better on the snes than on the comp. seiken densetsu is out because i'd need a famicom. i can just emulate that. i already own chrono trigger, to the person that suggested ct.

i hear about earthbound a lot...what makes it so good, without spoiling the game? how's the music, gameplay, etc.? maybe i should get mario kart? i used to have it, but its been awhile since i have and its been even longer since i've played it.
Wasn't SNES only good for its RPG's. I didn't think anything else mattered. Nothing topped SNES RPG's.

Earthbound's Music is top-notch.It's kind of a cheery game(At some points).Basically Alien's invade the planet and its up to you and 3 other kids to save the world.
Really basic story, but its an addictive game. Some of the text conversations in the game are HILLARIOUS.Plus the game has numerous drug references. The fighting is nothing out of the ordinary, but its still a fun game that I would definetly give a try.You should probably look around for some video's on Youtube before you decide to get the game.
This dude has playthrough video's:

The one I posted nothing really is happening because its the very beginning of the game, but the game picks up really fast.

The SNES was about more than just RPGs, even though that was it's strong point. Seriously, I got FF XII...but it just doesn't do anything for me. Feels too much like a chore. FF III/VI plz.
And Debs, Earthbound is basically a really humorous modern day (90's at least) RPG. It's America as the Japanese see it. There's also a lot of Beatles references, which I really dig, since that's my favorite band....man, I need to look Earthbound up on eBay sometime. You'll really like it if you're into quirky humor, because that game is chock-full of it (i. e. there's a random character that looks exactly like Mr. T, there's a band that apes the Blues Brothers, I remember getting into one fight with an old man in one of the towns, and one his attacks was "complains about today's youth" or something to that effect.)

umm... there's so many.
1. Link to the Past:
Talk about replay value? Talk about graphics for the time? Talk about an epic soundtrack? This game has it all. Just when you think it's over too, the game continues... and continues..... and continues again... Great game, epic story, epic gameplay. Everything is just amazing.
2. Dracula X:
IMO, this was the second best Castlevania game. As a Castlevania fanatic, I would definitely rank this game number 2. You could do so much more, by comparison to Super Castlevania IV. Great game, overall.
3. Final Fantasy VI:
If I need to get into this, then you've never played it...
4. Chrono Trigger:
5. Mario RPG:
More Squaresoft epics... you need to play them to understand why they're so good.

Uniracers. Awesome game.
Also, an NTSC snes WILL PLAY imported games. Check out the back of a snes cart near the bottom, and you'll see two little slots. Those match up to 2 tabs in the snes. All you need to do is get some pliers and rip out the two tabs and you're set (this has not ill effects on the system whatsoever btw, nintendo of america were just being dicks). I imported most of the classics because its cheaper to get the sfc carts instead of the u.s counterparts, if you don't mind playing in japanese (which isn't that hard).
Try hit-japan on ebay if you're gonna import shit, I use them all the time.

SNES was fucking god tier.
I never thought any system could rival the NES as far as quality, but SNES actually overpowered its little bro. Not even the mighty Genesis and PS2 have the nutsack to compare dick size with the SNES.
Capcom beasted, Konami did as well, Mario, Donkey Kong and Link kicked ass. Square showed up more than its fair share. I know I'm missing many other fantastic companies, but just those few alone put the SNES in a class of its own.

Wow, going down this list is incredibly nostalgic. I actually still play Super Metroid every now and then, just to do parts of the No Boss/Mini Boss run. It's hard to find games that have glitches that add to the gameplay possibilities rather than detracting from it, and Super Metroid had a lot of them (and I'm not talking about special moves).

Uh.. Space Megaforce and Hagane.. (stepped into this thread too late)
Cybernator is the shit though.. I'm not advocating finding the ROM instead of the cart, but there's a ROM hack out there that fan-translated all the dialogue in the Japanese version, Assault Suits Valken (most of the dialogue in Cybernator was cut out to make the game more action-y).

It's great how somebody can make an SNES or Dreamcast thread every 3 months or so and it always gets a decent amount of posts:looney:
But yeah, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, FFVI, FFIV, Earthbound, Donkey Kong games, Mario RPG, Earthbound, etc etc. SNES is a monster, though.
I've beaten roughtly half of the 5 star games. Metroid, Mario, FFVI, Chrono Trigger, Mario RPG, and some other stuff. I should try to beat the rest when I get the time.

I could play Actraiser and Contra 3 every now and then forever. Actraiser was a major reason I got a SNES in the first place. How can you go wrong with an action game where you are God? It's a legendary game...and the soundtrack was one of the greatest of all time. It was unprecedented....I never heard such beautiful music from a game before, at the time. I still listen to it now on occasion.
There's also Zombies Ate My Neighbors, but that shouldn't really count, as it was also on Genesis.

You know it. Actraiser was a bad ass game with a nice soundtrack.
I just remembered another game that was fun to play for a bit: Sunset Riders

Kirby's Superstar, very fun game.
Wins the thread. Kirby Super Star is like the greatest SNES title made. Two-player coop, an in-depth combat system (made by the guys who make Smash Bros.), kickin' graphics/music, and hell even some of the corny storyline is hilariously awesome. Its only con is that it's over far too quickly.
But Kirby wasn't the only good SNES game, though.
Super Metroid - there's a reason Symphony of the Night copied this game's SUPERB formula
Chrono Trigger - forget the sequel or the PS1 remake ever happened, and you've got a stellar RPG with great mechanics and likeable characters.
Secret of Mana (the one w/ three characters, boy/girl/sprite) - fun, long, multiplayer RPG unlike anything out at the time.
Ogre Battle - fuck the PS1 version and its load times. The SNES version plays fast and plays well. No war game on either side of the ocean is quite like Ogre Battle.
Final Fantasy III/6j - though I'd recommend getting the GBA version for the extras (incl. a partially redone translation that's very good), this still stands as a great SNES game, and if you don't like the slowdown in the GBA version or the long-ass loading in the PS1 version, the SNES one is for you.
Final Fantasy IV/4j - see above.
Secret of Evermore (fuck the haters) - not quite as long, and no multiplayer for some odd reason, but it plays very well and has some rather pretty visuals and music.
Super Castlevania IV - who cares of Iga hates it? It introduced concepts used in later games (limp whip), had a great mechanic of its own that never saw the light of day again for some reason (8-way whipping), and great levels.
Hook - a halfway decent platformer with SOME OF THE BEST MUSIC EVER HEARD FROM A GAME, cartridge or otherwise. Play it for that alone, though as a game it does have some merit.
TMNT Tournament Fighters - check FGD for discussion on this game. I'm no authority on it... but damn if it isn't a well designed 2D console-exclusive fighter.
Zelda 3 (A Link to the Past) - just play it. 'Nuff said.
Super Mario World - I'm partial to the GBA version because of the redesigned Luigi (and Luigi >>>> Mario, bitches), but the original that came PACKED IN with the system stands on its own as a MASSIVE game with a TON of secrets and challenges.
Yoshi's Island - Contender for "best Mario game ever made." Really, I can't say more about it than what peeps already have. And if you like it, try the slightly inferior but still satisfying Yoshi's Island DS.
Super Mario All-Stars - How remakes of ALL 2D games should be done. You don't know how badly I wanted a similarly styled remake of so many older 2D games, like, say, Zelda 2. And unlike the ripoff GBA remakes, this includes Mario 1, 2, AND 3 COMPLETE AND WHOLE, with Lost Levels as a nice bonus.

Okay....
So there's this girl in my English that I think is really cute, and I brought her by my place on Wednesday to chill for a bit, and she sees my SNES and she's like, "You have a Super Nintendo?" And we spent the whole time playing All-Stars & World.
Well today she brought over her controller and some games:
Maximum Carnage
Mighty Morphing Power Rangers : The Movie (lawlz)
Mortal Kombat 3
Super Empire Strikes Back
and best of all -
FINAL FUCKING FANTASY III
And she's letting me keep them at my place, since she told me she never really plays her SNES at home, she only plays when she's at my place.
She's gonna back on Monday with even more games.
I love this girl.
Also: Reading/posting in this thread makes me wanna buy Earthbound again. When I have the money for it, I will.

LOL. Just so you know, I like her for more than the fact that she likes SNES.
In fact, when I brought her over o Wednesday, I was just going to show her what CD's I had, since she's a musician, and the whole reason we started talking is because of music...
I asked her about Super Mario RPG today. She said she didn't have it, and she seemed pretty sad/regretful about it. Maybe I'll buy that off eBay when I'm getting Earthbound, and we can play it together.

Im surprised only 1 person has mention Pocky N Rocky 1/2 those games were hella fun. I loved playing those games.
One game that I have not seen mentioned and im not surprised due to its rarity is
Strikegunner: STG
BEST AIRPLANE SHOOTER OF ALL TIME (IMO). I loved it over Rayden, 19xx, and Gradius. The thing about this game is that it is one of those extremely rare games so its rare that I find someone who has ever seen the game let alone play it. I liked the music it in it. The best thing was playing 2 player mode and combining together to make like a super plane it was fucking awesome. Also what I liked was that at the beginning of every stage you got to choose from I think 15 different super weapons for your plane. Which was awesome.
I never saw this game to buy only to rent. Man I wish I had this game. If you get the chance play it you wont be dissapointed. And if anyone actually knows what I'm talking about MISSILE SPRAY FTW. I loved that Super.

That game's story made me sad.
When the main character (the flute guy) and the snotty princess fall for each other, that was sweet, as were the other pairings amongst the characters that came with you (but never fought lol).
BUT THEN, they lose their memories of the adventure! NOOOOOOOOOO!
It's also one of the few games where the Light is evil and Darkness is good.

That game did have the bittersweet ending, but I loved the fact that Will (flute guy, as he's been dubbed) straight out defied eons of evolution and found Kara again, even in the present day. Will may not remember his journey, but he and Kara promised never to forget one another, thus Kara's "I want to burn you into my memory" line. So I like to think that they beat the odds, as they were together at the end of the game.
That was flat-out the best love story in an RPG for me. Somewhat simple, but sweet. I love that game.
Oh yeah, and that was insane that Gem was the first boss in Soul Blazer in human form. Then again, Actraiser/Actraiser 2, Soul Blader/Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma are all connected so yeah.

Will and Kara, that's who they were. And I like to think the same thing.
I knew that Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma were part of the same series, but I had no idea the Actraisers or Soul Blader/Blazer were a part of it as well. That said, the only one of those I played was Illusion of Gaia, though I did read a script spoiler of Terranigma out of curiosity, and MAN, that seems way more "bittersweet" an ending than Gaia's.
________
Random SNES tidbits about games mentioned in this thread:
- In X-Men Mutant Apocalypse, you get a special ending if you a) play the whole game start-to-finish in one sitting (not hard, takes about 1 hour) and b) you don't lose ALL your lives for any one character (you can lose one here and there). If you use passwords or do lose all of one character's lives, you get an abridged version of the FULL ending.
- The Awesomeness of Edgar Figaro: you can have 7 tools on Edgar before you leave Vector for the first time, provided you get lucky and steal the Debilitator from the Crane. I know he's not God tier, but Edgar is broken, seriously. In the 3 party VS. Kefka fight in Narshe, he was always his OWN TEAM, which I called "The Sweeper." Bioblaster FTW! Sabin's cool, but Edgar has better moves, no possibility of fucking up commands, AND he can pick his targets. (My brother tells me that Kefka's last name was Palazzo. Izzat true?)
- Mario 2 enemies ahoy! Both Mario World and Yoshi's Island reintroduce enemies from "Super Mario USA" (our Mario 2) to great effect. Hell, Shyguys were freakin' EVERYWHERE in Yoshi's island, and Sniffits to boot? Hotness. Tells us that Nintendo doesn't think so lowly of us, methinks. Unlike shitty, shitty, shitty Sega.
- Mario Allstars is by and far the most bang-for-buck title on the SNES ever. Not the greatest title, but it has graphically enhanced remakes (with mostly intact gameplay mechanics) for FOUR NES games, adds FOUR save files for EACH game, and, just like the original Mario 3, you can play pretty much play the original Mario Bros. against someone via the VS. matches. Good stuff.
- Did I mention that Kirby Superstar is like the best SNES game ever made?

Really basic story, but its an addictive game. Some of the text conversations in the game are HILLARIOUS.Plus the game has numerous drug references. The fighting is nothing out of the ordinary, but its still a fun game that I would definetly give a try.You should probably look around for some video's on Youtube before you decide to get the game.
This dude has playthrough video's:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gs5fi-xfLMc&mode=related&search=
The one I posted nothing really is happening because its the very beginning of the game, but the game picks up really fast.
Watching random play-thrus, been a while since I've seen this game. Personally, I thought it sucked (and yes, I've beaten it).
Now whats freakin' me out is what they say about the last boss.
Perty much, when fighting the second form, the author says: Giygas's dialogue is disturbing once you learn its source. It's said to be:
Itoi said that it came from a childhood experience where he walked in on a pornographic movie where a rape was taking place.

Well, I think all's been said before, but here's what I have/recommend, in no particular order:
Super Mario All-stars + World: Get this over the two older carts. Nintendo ported the different Luigi sprites into SMW, and it's the first 4/5 SMB games all in one.
Star Fox: Annoying as hell, but for a 16-bit console to be putting polygons of ANY kind on the screen, well... that takes ALOT of work.
Star Fox 2: Never released on either side of the Pacific, only a 95% complete beta is floating around the 'net, and that's a damned shame. If you can find a SuperFX 2 game somewhere, you'd do yourself a HUGE favor by putting in a replacement ROM chip with this game on it. Coincidentally, if anyone can get this done and score TWO copies, I'd love to get one.
Demon's Crest: It's platforming. It's Capcom. It's made of absolute WIN. Severely underrated, but worth every last penny you'd pay for it.
Street Fighter Alpha 2 (I am NOT kidding): Sure you'll have to sit through 5 seconds of load/uncompressing time per round, and lots of moves/sounds/extras got cut, but it's @#$%in' ALPHA 2. Unless a fan-port of Super Turbo is made to the SNES, this is the best of SNES fighting.
Tetris Attack: Oh, how I love THIS game. When I play this with my Fighter Stick SN, I'm pretty much godly. The CPU's a cinch, even on the hardest level, and usually lasts less than a minute. VERY good for 2-player action.
Mega Man VII: This one's... kinda a tough call. It pales to the X series, but it IS the old Blue Bomber's only 16-bit-exclusive adventure. It also contains the most difficult single fight in the series.
Mega Man X: When Capcom puts their mind to something new, they go at it full force. That can be either good or ill, but this is VERY good. Worth the money.
Mega Man X²: Capcom proves sticking with what works and building upon it is very viable, and the C4 chip just adds to the eyecandy. Slightly easier than MMX1, but still a challenge to get everything.
Mega Man X³: Initially, I was turned off by this game, as the X-Buster's efficiency was nerfed terribly against, well... everything, making the first boss fight (no matter WHO you chose) a major pain in the ass. It also throes you into the game with very little storyline upfront, so you'd NEED to play the first two beforhand, or you'll be well and truly confused. Zero's playable, but having only one life generally means you'll lose him early the first time, unless you basically forget he's there. Adding another layer of pickups almost made the game a Rare-style collection-fest, and I couldn't find any music tracks I liked.
That said, the game grew on me later on, and by the time the X Collection hit, I actually kinda liked it. It'll be an expensive one to find for the console, but I'm kicking myself now for not getting it.
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest: I'm generally not one for RPGs, but I actually LIKED this one. The battles aren't random and an every-6-steps thing like the main entries, and that was the initial draw. Later on, I found the game challenging enough, but also something that I could play for a bit, and then go to something else with. Another good find, if you can get it.
Kirby's Avalanche: Since I can't nominate the (IMO) superior Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, nor the superior-to-both Puyo Puyo 2, this will have to do. It's the American SNES version of Compile's Puyo Puyo, and if you haven't played this... well, there's little chance you haven't. Whether it's on the NES, Genesis, GBA or Dreamcast, there's been tons of ports and sequels released.
Mega Man & Bass: Only a Japanese release, but still one to 'obtain' for the console (Star Fox 2-style ROM chip replacement method). There's SUPPOSED to be a 100% English translated ROM out there, but I'm not certain it really is. It WILL, however, make you throw rocks at the GBA remake.
Hope this helps ya :3
seiken densetsu 3 looks pretty damn good...i know this was never ported to the snes...so i'd have to emulate, correct? how many of these games are there?

We have nearly the exact same taste in like...all things gaming. I'm starting to think either you or I was cloned. But then, that would make Alpha a clone too, cause I'm his twin...or maybe I'm his clone. Fuck. :wasted:
Anyhow, on the subject of Terranigma, yes that ending sucked. At least with IoG you get a sense of closure...
instead of "Ark", a clone of the real person, ceasing to exist and his light counterpart getting the girl AND the restored world after you (aka the clone Ark) do all the work. That was wack. But at least Ark looked like a total badass taking out Dark Gaia one-on-one, an entity so powerful it previously took Will (as Shadow), Kara (as the Firebird) AND the power of the Light Knight (aka Blazer) to take down in IoG.
On the topic of the timeline, supposedly it's...
-Actraiser/Actraiser 2 (Master takes down Tanzra, loses most of his powers after Heaven comes crashing down into his fortress)
-Soul Blazer (The Master's Angel of Death, Blazer whomps on Deathtoll, becomes human and presumably, marries Lisa)
-Illusion of Gaia (Quite sometime later; Will and Kara are supposedly descendants of Blazer, with Kara's blood lineage to him much further away than Will's, so no icky incest stuff. Will stomps on Dark Gaia with the aid of Kara, ushers in the modern world and gets his princess back, or so I like to believe)
-Terranigma (Naturally, humankind fucks up the modern world, and everyone goes underground. Ark restores the world and owns Dark Gaia again.)
As for the other snippets, yes, Kirby Superstar owns hard, especially with two player. Mario Allstars rocked, and Edgar is retarded powerful in World of Balance. Hell, he's still good in World of Ruin. And Kefka's last name is indeed Palazzo, and all I can think of is Excel Saga after hearing it.
Oh and off-topic specs, you asked who was in my av awhile back. That is Raquel Applegate, of Wild ARMs: The 4th Detonator fame. My favorite female character in any RPG to date.

WTF? Is that shit for real? :wasted:
Oh yeah, and illusion of Gaia is my fav.
My avatar says it all, lol.
It's true. You are talking about the part when Gygas is saying all of this random stuff right?Well he really did acidentally walk into a porn theater, and I guess it was a traumatic expereince for him.
Kind of creepy, but then again the entire game is strange.

-Terranigma (Naturally, humankind fucks up the modern world, and everyone goes underground. Ark restores the world and owns Dark Gaia again.)
huh? Everyone moved underground? It was only that one town of crysta that was underground and they were all only the "dark side" of the same town on the real world, and they were all Dark Gaia's pawns if I remember. The real world just got all fucked up and had to be resurrected and life started over again from the beginning.

Yup, you were right on that. Haven't played that game in forever, since the ending pissed me off so badly.

-No, SD3 (Secret of Mana 2) never came to SNES, it's S-Famicom only.
-Yes, you'd likely have to emulate, unless you speak Japanese and can locate an over 10-year-old game and S-Famicom. Which if you can, I want your connections.
-There are 9 SD games in all, if I counted correctly.

Out of sheer curiosity, which fight was that? I love MM7 to death but none of its fights or stages are particularly difficult.
That would be...
The final Wily battle. Maybe not difficult once you figure out a way to make him stop firing those damned shots at you, but it's still tedious as hell (Fire one weapon to hit, press start, switch to the weapon that stops him, fire THAT, press start to switch BACK, lather, rinse repeat). Of course, it's ALSO hell if you get HIT by one of 'em (as it's huge damage from any of 'em).

Then again, Actraiser/Actraiser 2, Soul Blader/Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma are all connected so yeah.
i loved illusion of time, but i forgot most of the story and the ending, i knew there was some deep psychological connection to it though, soul blazer was a game i wanted for ages, i was looking forward to it coming out, its probably because in my psyche soul blazer has the same aura as illusion of time, interesting :wonder:

TMNT Turtles in Time
Final Fantasy 2 (IV) - No one has mentioned this yet, but I love it to death. I'm playing through it again right now.
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 3 (VI)
SMRPG
Secret of Mana
E.V.O - Search for Eden - Very fun game that is rare and not a lot know about. It goes for about 50-80 bucks when you can actually find it on Ebay.
Illusions of Gaia, which was just mentioned, but I will second it.
Knights of the Round - Very fun side scroller fighter. More rare than others and you can level up. Try it!
Megaman X series
Secret of Evermore - It's kind of like Secret of Mana, very good.
Super Mario World and Mario Kart
Brainlord - Fun action game that has a lot of good puzzles in it. Free roaming RPG.
Breath of Fire series!
Lufia I and Lufia II

Again, I reiterate, a Super Famicom is not necessary to play imports. Check the bottom of a snes cart, there's two little slots. Those match up to two stupid pointless tabs in the snes that you can rip out with pliers, with no ill effects whatsoever.

Ah, okay. I never played the 4th one. I didn't like any of them other than the first (I didn't like the remake much either). So hey, we're not EXACT clones.
Kefka Palazzo has a nice ring to it. And yes, I too wonder if he's Illy's long-lost brother.
Re: Soul Blazer series timeline. ... Man, humanity sucks. Seriously, how many times can Earth be mutated/destroyed/resurrected? Though the Terranigma story, to me (keep in mind again I never played it) seemed like more of a beginning than an end, kinda like a retelling of the premise if Illusion of Gaia (restoring the world to a rightful state). I have an old Gamefan mag that even says Nintendo considered releasing it in NA with the title "Genesis" (no joke). Still, even though I can appreciate them, super-sad endings in RPGs tend to wear me down. After reading about Terranigma, I knew I'd never play it. (Hell, I'm not even sure I'd play Gaia again knowing what I know now).
... Seriously we gotta get the hell of this planet. I ain't wantin' no Dark Gaia or whatever stealin' MY lunch.
NOT SO NINJA EDIT - Speaking of sad endings... Breath of Fire 2's sad ending ALMOST made me cry. Almost. It's why I always went for the good ending.

There was a game on the SNES whose title I cannot remember for the life of me. You played as this mech. It was a platform-shooter, and the first level was in space as the background showed a battle between huge capital ships. You could jet boost to get to higher places but fuel was limited. Anyone remember this game?
Also, despite looking like ass and having an ST Akuma character-equivilent, that Super FX Racing with the cars w/ faces was cool.
