Hey, I was wondering about the PCB that comes with the Hori Tekken 5 stick (US). Why don't people just use that PCB instead of using the PS1 DS pcb?

Is it a matter of quality of PCB? Or just convenience?

I have a PS1 DS that I tried to do a solderless mod, and I found the wires kept slipping out. So I put that away and just soldered some wires and QDs to the original Hori PCB (for use with some Sanwa parts I ordered). Seems to be holding up a lot better.

So what gives?

size - the t5 pcb is big compared to the ds pcb. unless you're going to use the t5 pcb for a t5 case, it seems like you'd have to make a big enough box so that you can fit the pcb in it.

availibility - to get a t5 pcb, you need a t5 stick which can be somewhat difficult (or not, depends really). it might be easier for some to find a DS.

compatability - i don't know about this, but AFAIK the DS controllers have no problems with any converters. i don't know about the T5 PCB though, could be just as compatable as the DS.

just like every other aspect of joystick making, it's all preference.
