So I just got my (Asian?) GD-ROM, DIMM board, and cabling set in the mail. I put in my US CvS2 GD-ROM and security chip, attached it all to my (US?) NAOMI-2 board, and in return for my troubles I got "ERROR 22: Error occured during communication between main board and option board."

I am assuming that it's having trouble talking to the GD-ROM drive... ? Is the region of a GD-ROM drive or NAOMI board important... ?

I only have one cable connecting the GD-ROM drive and the DIMM board - is there any other cabling needed here? I don't see any good online pictures or diagrams of the connections. I have the serial connection between the GD-ROM and DIMM, the interconnector for the DIMM board that fits between the normal JAMMA adapter and NAOMI board, and that's it as far as new cabling. (Read: I got 2 new cables total, and they seem to be hooked up fine AFAICT.)

I also have NAOMI-1 boards if that's helpful, but I figured starting with a NAOMI-2 board would make better sense.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

EDIT: According to this great Naomi wiring/schematics reference (http://solvalou.mine.nu/beginner/naomi.html), it looks like all my cabling is right, which leaves me again suspecting the Asia vs US possibility.
EDIT2: According to the service manual (http://solvalou.mine.nu/japanstuff/systems/gdrom.pdf), Error 22 is "The NAOMI main board receives no response from the DIMM board. Correctly reconnect the DIMM board and the GD interface board. If the problem is still reproduced, replace the DIMM board and/or the GD interface board."

Ah, interesting. I was using a Capcom connection board, which evidently is a no-no. I'll check that angle when I get home. I guess I may have a use for my hated Sega connection board after all.

Are you using an external ATX power supply? The one supplied within the capcom IO doesnt give enough power to run the GD-ROM hardware. It is still useable with GD-ROM games as long as you provide additional power.
