those guys have really really cool hair.
and i think that I'm the only bear that posts in here. well with few exceptions.
and theres only like 4 black gays that ever post in here
other than that:
azagtoth is a cub for chubs
Blodia is a cub
Lightning storm is sexual chocolate
Drumliner joe is a cub that suffers from a very sensual learning disability called sexlexia
AW is gay for pay
and quiche.. as wendy would say.."how u doin"
maybe the chub and bear lovers and the transgenders are the most vocal but we are a pretty diverse bunch.

I've had the most random shit happen to me these last few weeks at the club. Some dude I've messed around with a few times was there was his brother, who's also hot and gay. Well, the brother was all over me in front of him. I tried my best to be polite about it and stave off his advances, but damn he was persistent.
Then last night some dude was "accidentally" rubbing his hardon up again my leg while we were talking. Thing is, I've known him and his boyfriend for a while and it was kind of awkward.
Anyhow, nice to see the thred is as dramatic as ever. Whoooo!!!

I may not know her in real life, but i've talked to her plenty of times. I've talked to someone who's been in a relationship with her. I've talked to people who know her personally. Obviously i'm not going to name names. She's just a terrible person.
I'm not trying to intentionally piss you off because... I don't really know you/care enough. I'm just speaking my mind about a subject which I know about, I couldn't care less what you think. Funnily enough, I've probably known her online longer than you have.

I don't think Jamie's a bad person, but hell, I've only known her for a little less than a year, so I probably don't know as much about her as you do. However, I know that she's helping me transition, and for that, I owe her one. I don't agree with a lot of the things that she does and says, but she's got a right to say them. She and anyone else can say whatever the fuck.
Only reason I asked you to stop insulting her is because she's an important person to me for the reason I mentioned above. You can think whatever you want about her, but just saying, as a favor to me, cause I like you a lot...keep the insults towards her to a minimum, alright?

You'se gotta get on the phone with your boy and be real with him and be real with yourself. It could be that's he's just really busy (3 jobs!!!!) or it could be something else. If the phone is the only way to contact him, you gotta use it. Don't avoid the subject by saying you don't like using the phone.

So funny last night y'all. I had went to my little cousin's band performance on Thursday night and noticed how cute her director is and I got a vibe from him, don't ask me why. I ran into him at a club last night though and talked to him. He was standoffish at first but I assured him I wouldn't tell anyone he's gay, I mean I've been an instructor myself and I never wanted kids to know my personal business, I know how it is.
He did however reject my offer for a drink. Lame.

Ok, I have a totally random topic to bring up:
What's the best dessert you have ever had? Mine was a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a slight amount of chocolate syrup on top and a shot of kahlua poured on top. I actually don't drink alcohol typically, but the mixture was really amazing. I've only ever had it once and I just found myself really craving it again and I was wondering if anyone else had love affairs with desserts?

Yeah...my BF watched the movie and liked it too...he txt'd me later and told me he had ordered the complete series on DVD. And just as he txt'd that, I had just started watching the episodes online. I was like OMFG. We had a gay connection.
Anyways, I didn't really get the show before, so I never even watched one whole episode. Now that I'm older and fucked/dated a bunch of guys, I can relate to nearly every episode. I think this show is aimed for people (whether it'd be guys or girls) that date/fuck men. So really, straight men can't relate to the show...and it would explain why the theater was packed with girls on a girls night out and gay men.

Went over to Rob's place today since before the reconstruction. Place is looking REAL nice so far. We mainly snuggled, ate pizza and watched TV. Had to cut it short since he had class later tonight but oh well. lol
So I'm thinking about telling my mum about Rob this or next week, depending on after we sort out bills and furniture when she moves in. Been meaning to do it for a while but my father's move turned out to be longer than expected. I'm really nervous about it but it has to be done. She deserves to know, especially with us declaring our love for each other. I know she's an understanding person and that she would love me regardless.
Edit: Now that this is in mind, I'm starting to think Rob's parents know as well. Rob's been asking me if I told my mum every time we meet up. :X
Desserts? I say the most indulgent would have to be rocky road with brownie pieces and chocolate fudge assist. Iced oatmeal cookies with vanilla milk always does it for me. At least it's midly healthy for you.

I don't know, not well at all, I've had more pressing matters at hand. Like breathing. I'm about to go to the hospital/clinic because I either have bronchitis or I've developed asthma. I woke up every hour (at least once) like clockwork last night, to wake up gasping and wheezing for air. My airways are like... 33% as much as they should be. I take a deep breath and it ends by like the second second. Lucky if I don't cough.
Just filed for unemployment, still figuring out not only what to do, but where to do it. My lease is up in August and I'm fucking gone from this shithole. I hate my neighbors, and I hate not having enough hot water. I kinda wanna move a little south and work at a more chill place like a record store in seattle or something, but I also don't wanna move much further from Wayne. I guess it just depends where I find a good place.

Yep. Pretty bad asthma. I want to punch my mom in the face. I understand I was a 'surprise' even if you won't admit it (come on, two kids a year apart and another one FIFTEEN YEARS LATER? I'm not retarded) but does that make it any more acceptable to destroy my lungs with cigarettes? Sure, smoke in the house, I can go play outside or go in the other room but when I'm inside your fucking body? Are cigarettes that important to you? Maybe you should've stayed an alcoholic drug addict. Fuck. Really pissed. That was really scary last night, I've never even had a panic attack before much less one triggered by not being able to breathe.

Born or Choice?
Both. And Neither.
That is an incorrect question, most people who have this debate aren't even talking about the same thing.
What you are is not a choice. Your lifestyle however is. The problem with the typical debate on this is that the word "homosexual" refers both to what a person IS and what lifestyle they live. I am a homosexual man. I could choose to live a heterosexual lifestyle. I however do not choose that, I choose to live my life in a way that also identifies myself, therefore I choose to live a homosexual lifestyle.
The other problem with your question specifically is the "born" part. This no one knows for certain if it is genes or if it is the environment in which one is raised. I tend to lean toward it's probably a bit of both. In some cases it might be all genes, in others it might be all environmental, while yet others may have the gene but the environment enhanced the desires.

I see it no different than deciding from riding or not riding a rollercoaster. Because if it was a "gay gene" would you not consider it an abnormality? (i.e. down syndrome, sickle-cell, turner, etc...)

A: You cannot choose, decide, or basically have any say on what or who you find attractive. Personal aesthetics are as they are, with or without outside interference or influence.
B: The abnormalities you listed are due to mutations, but who's to say that the gay gene is a mutation? Maybe it's just a recessive trait, or maybe it's purely psychological, who knows; there's no conclusive evidence for either case as far as I know.

In that respect, yes it is a choice. That's the lifestyle and what you DO, as opposed to who you are. One can BE a homosexual but choose to live as a heterosexual, there are plenty who do this in real life. Sexuality is not simply the act but who you are. That's the difference.
As to the gene comment... Technically speaking, yes because abnormality literally means "not normal." Which anything that is not in the majority is an abnormality. Being white is an abnormality, being black is an abnormality, (because Chinese outnumber us all) being more intelligent than other people is an abnormality. But simply speaking abnormal doesn't mean "bad" as the phrase is typically misperceived.

I wasn't born with it. I kinda knew that guys were attractive in sophomore year high school.
Tried it out and was like "Whoa! This isn't as bad as people were making it out to be." I was just curious.
But eh... to me it's all about who looks better and who has the better personality.
I could like a chick who has so hot but not so vain and has a kick-ass personality vs. some boring scholmo.
But if it came down to one guy and and one girl who has the same high physical appearance and same awesome personality, it pretty much all comes down to the nitty gritty, the sex and I choose guys overall.
Because only a guy knows what a guy wants. >:D
Unless if it's a girl then that girl is a whore. :)

That doesn't mean you weren't born with it, though. To even have the potential to try something a guy, to recognize a man is attractive, requires you to be somewhat homosexual like on the kinsey scale. Which is not something you choose. Like, I can recognize an attractive girl but I'm not curious because there would be no connection, attraction, no nothing. Even if I were curious, I just.. couldn't. It's just not... me. The same way a heterosexual guy is born into his attractions and can't force himself to find a man attractive. (I'm not really phrasing this as well as I'd like...)

No, no, no. I didn't say anything about KNOWING that it is genetic and therefore was born that way. What I said was that I believe it is indeed a bit of both genetics and environmental. There is no scientific evidence for genetics, but similarly there is no scientific evidence that it is not. People simply don't know the source of it.
The real question is "does it matter?" No it really doesn't. Because being gay isn't harmful in anyway to anyone unlike say sickle cell is. Gay is not a disease even if it is an abnormality. There are PLENTY of abnormalities that are good abnormalities and plenty that are neither bad nor good, just as there are bad ones. It is society's labeling of gay as "bad" that makes it seem bad, when in actuality simply being gay hasn't hurt anybody.

Not that anyone reads what I say, but the only biological evidence for it is the whole thing where in the case of two identical twins, both tend to be gay instead of one or the other.
At any rate, even if it isn't biological, it's still hardly a choice. Again, you have no say over what you find attractive.

So I understand not being prepared, I'm not even mad about her smoking while pregnant or anything like that anymore, it's the mere fucking principle she couldn't have the fucking respect to just FUCKING TELL ME. It's all depending on the situation.
Going after someone who isn't expecting it at all.
Basically a random person.
(Is probably what you think is despicable and I agree.)
Or going after someone who's "thinking" of experimenting.
There are times where "straight" guys ask me what's it like to mess around with another dude. It just tells me he's a little bit more than just curious if he wasn't interested in that sort of thing in the first place.

The way you said it was really easy to misconstrue because you left all of this out initially.
Anyway, unless they come on to you, in which case it's fair game, I have major problems with the idea of "convincing" straight guys to fuck around. Obviously if they show interest it's a different story, but IMO any game you try to run on a guy should immediately end at "no thanks, I'm straight."

Sorry, I don't mean to explode on you it's just that nothing in my life right now feels right. When I can't breathe right I can't sleep right, and I am a VERY sleep dependent person. I would sleep 12 hours a night if I could, and still make it to my responsibilities. Sorry I'm being so bitchy but I did quit, and I fucking hate it. lol. sad face. I'm almost done with the withdrawals. I was up until like 7 in the morning last night and only slept thanks to an emergency Trazodone I had lying around. Ok, I have a real ethical problem here. I'll keep it short and try to just point out the pertinent information:
-I have a lesbian friend who has a girlfriend who is currently in the air force and is overseas.
-She apparently really needs the closeness of sex. I personally can't really understand the {{{need}}} for sex, but she can't understand how I don't need it so I trust her feelings are true.
-She asks me if I would do it for her. (She may have been joking, but I think I heard a bit of desperation in her voice)
-I'm fairly certain that if I don't do it, she'll find some stranger to do it for her.
-Would it be better for everyone if it was me instead of some stranger? I mean, I'm her friend right, I want to help her without getting attached or anything.
I mean, she really is a good person and I want her to be happy. I just don't want her to ruin a relationship she already has with some stranger.
Oh, and I'm a tranny who is also a virgin...
Maybe I should make up my own mind? :(

Is she in a monagamus relationship.. I know she says she needs it but if she's gonna break her gf's heart you should probably have no part of it.
if it's cool with her gf do it. I've done that for one of my lesbian friends before. as long as you arent gonna feel weird around her afterwards and she knows that you guys arent gonna become a couple i say go for it.

Kung Fu Panda doesn't have any gay characters. It was a fun movie. Fun action scenes and decent jokes. They used a hand drawn animation style at the beginning which was awesome (I wish they had done the entire movie with that style). The CGI was tops though-- definitely rivaling Pixar. Recommended.

I don't care so much about the religious aspect of it, as all it really is, is a piece of paper you get notarized at city hall that says you are legally bound. The only thing I can think of is the benefits partners can now get that they're married that straight people could get being married, mostly for when it comes to properties and wills and such. The thing is if you don't have that paper telling you you're married, you can be with someone because you want to be, not because you have to...some people stay married because it will cause more problems to get a divorce specially with no prenup.
I believe in relationships and people being together, but I don't believe you need to be married to legitimize your relationship and be truly happy with someone.
ramberk
06-17-2008, 11:29 AM
There's a humongous change when someone says they are married to someone else. Ignore the legal aspects of marriage for a moment and think of what it means when someone says they are married to someone. The word marriage and the symbolic ceremony tied to it have very strong meanings and implications tied to it. By getting married, and treating it seriously, you are literally saying this is the most important person in my life, this is a permanent union and nothing else will get in the way of it.
You can still argue, why does it matter. It matters because its a very big step in legitimizing our relationships. People have one less reason to think gay couples are "less then" straight couples. Its a big psychological change for a gay couple to say they are married. Our community has had to live with stigmatized stereotype that we only hook-up and our relationships are weak and that we're incapable of having strong, long-lasting relationships. It's a big difference how people view you when you say "we're married" as opposed to something else.
It also matters cause it strengthens the relationships we have as gay couples. We've had commitment ceremonies for a long time but for some folks, saying your married just has a stronger psychological effect. When you say your married, your saying, yeah, this is gonna be permanent and we're gonna work hard to make it work. That psychological effect is not quite there when you say we've had a commitment ceremony or you say something else.
It's symbolic and psychological. That was the biggest beef that a lot of conservatives have with it. They know they can't take our legal rights away and they can't fight the mainstream acceptance of our community but they at the least wanted to have one last thing they could hold on to, to say that our relationships are worthless. They no longer got that now (well at least not in CA in MA).

They no longer got that now (well at least not in CA in MA).
I guess it's a good thing I don't give a damn how others view me or "our community." Considering about 50% of marriages or so end in divorce, the word marriage really does not mean what it used to, at least to me. I don't need to be married to let someone know they are the most important person in my life and that nothing else can get in the way, as you put it. It sounds more like a social tradition or psychological thing than anything else. By all means, if this is what someone wants, then they should go for it, and I am glad that there is a greater sense of equality when it comes to that.
Also, as much I know I am gay, I don't consider myself part of a big happy family or community. Just like straight people don't think of themselves as being in one big happy group for being straight and everyone sticking together. I post on SRK in the gay thread, as I am part of a fighting game community and it's cool to meet those that share my interest within the community. Now outside of that, I don't see me and every single gay person out there as part of one big group. It seems I can't even stand most gays, specially the stereotypical ones, and the fact that they are gay does not mean I should be friendly or tolerant of them in anyway, they are just another person, sexual preference makes no difference.
If you think we need to legalize marriage for "others" to see us as normal, then more than likely I don't want to associate myself with those who don't already see me as normal because I am gay. People are entitled to their opinions, and I am entitled to not give a fuck what others think about me. I know what and who I am, I know who I like and love, and I'll always have my friends there with me without the need of worrying what people I don't know or care about think about me.

... mostly for when it comes to properties and wills and such.
FYI, Wills trump all, including marriage. If a man left a will that gave everything he owned to his high school geometry teacher and not his wife, then the wife will get nothing. Of course she could fight it and hang up his stuff in limbo for awhile and if she can prove he was not of sound mind when he made the will it can be overturned, but this is rare.
By getting married, and treating it seriously, you are literally saying this is the most important person in my life, this is a permanent union and nothing else will get in the way of it.

If you were murdered, there wouldn't be a police investigation or the criminal charges against your murderer would be minimal. The police could search you just for acting 'weird'. There would be jobs you wouldn't be able to hold. Schools may bar you from attending them.

Umm. Killed for what? Yes, I go on here and type about my life. I do not go out and flaunt my gayness out on the streets. I can count on my left hand how many times I've gone to bars and much less clubs, which I can little for. I don't go around marching and hollering I'm here and queer. Unless I tell people, I've never had anyone assume I was gay. As much as I talk here, I don't rub my life or "lifestyle" in people's faces, and my personal life is my personal life.
So, taking this into consideration, why would I ever be murdered or thrown in a mental institution? Even if this was 60 years ago, I've never acted in a way to make my orientation be known to everyone who doesn't already know about it. Just like now, the only people that would know are those I've trusted enough to tell or I know are comfortable with it.
And I don't act "Weird" so I guess I wouldn't have to worry about the police.

I brought up the people thinking I'm gay thing in response to your statement that we would all be killed or thrown in an institution. If I already don't flaunt it and make a big deal out of it as it is, why would I have to fear those things happening to me?
I am happy that we're moving towards equality and we get the same rights, but not because of it will change the way others view gays. I still stand on the same platform when it comes to marriage, but if there are those out there that need marriage to feel like a true couple, then so be it, and I'm glad they can do so now.
But whatever, it's all good news, and that's all that matters. My friend went to the hospital for a brain aneurysm about a month ago..the surgery went bad and had to have emergency surgery. She was in ICU for about 3 weeks, and I had been going every other day to see her, although she was totally drugged out, although still conscious. She finally got out of ICU last week and was back in her own room, although she couldn't speak. She called me last night and it was freaky seeing her number on my phone...She had only been able to speak a few hours and she called me up, it was so awesome. I am so happy that things are working out. She doesn't remember anything until up to a week before her surgery...it was weird talking to her, and I'm just so freaking happy that things are going back to normal with her.:tup::tup:

Hey. i got name dropped, so i'll bring some of the softer, sensual side of the culture in here. I find alot of the sensual, editorial work alot more interesting, and in some ways better arousal material, than the explicit kind.
(the following is NSFW)
I have a huge appreciation for beards. They're appealing to me. Which ever way it is composed, i'm pro-beard. I stumbled upon a few sites made by people who also have this fascination.
Pinupsmag[dot]com: Issue 5 Cover (http://www.pinupsmag.com/issue5large.jpg) [sample] (http://www.pinupsmag.com/issue5detail1.jpg)
One such publication is pinupsmag[dot]com, 2008. It features exaggerated centerfolds using atypical male models (specifically "medium" bears) as a nice play on the classic pinup (straight or gay varieties), reminiscently stylized as the adult magazines of past eras. That cover is a standout to me due to its playful nature, and handsome centerfolds.
But one big note, this is NOT a "bear" publication. It can be appreciated by anyone whose interested in the male form, which is generally hairy. straight from the creator:
Is it important for you to not classify this as a bear publication?
Yes it is. I'm not as anti-label as some. In fact I'm pretty indifferent. But I think it's important that I represent the models on a neutral platform. If I were to define Pinups as a bear magazine, then I'd be limiting the range of the models' beauty and presenting them as beautiful only within the confines of bear parameters, but by leaving it open, I'm allowing the models to be seen as beautiful across the entire spectrum. (taken from an interview by Matt Thomas for Fab Magazine, 2008)
Sean M. Johnson's: Beard Love (http://www.seanmjohnson.com/gallery/02_2007/04_Beard_Love_2/)
video 1: Chistopher Wakes Up (http://www.seanmjohnson.com/gallery/02_2007/05_Beard_Love/03_Christopher_wakes_up.mov)
video 2: Michael and I, Sunday Morning (http://www.seanmjohnson.com/gallery/02_2007/05_Beard_Love/05_michael_and_i_sunday_morning.mov)
video 3: Beard Love @ Mustache Ride (http://www.seanmjohnson.com/gallery/02_2007/04_Beard_Love_2/04_Beardlove_At_Mustache_Ride.mov)
Okay, this is the one i really enjoyed. Wondering where else the bear label can come from? Here's a punctuated example of it. Everything that encompasses a bear: hair, beards, playfulness, nuzzling, and so on and so forth... he puts it all together in a package that i feel drives the point home without being explicit about it. Being playful and connecting on a deeper level is very erotic to me.
Video 1: What i love about this work is the bristling of beards against one another are clearly audible. And there is no kissing. I'd imagine it would be a highly sensual experience.
Video 2: One of the more intimate videos. This is the type of morning I would love to have everyday (and lately have meditating about this alot lately). Watch the whole thing, and what happens at the end is really adorable. I can't say enough lovely things about this one.
Video 3: The video I linked to is strangely sensual. Especially the last couple on the reel (guy with the gray cap): the apparent hesitation, then getting a little looser, and ending with very candid and intense cuddling. I felt exhausted by the time it ended. Also, the middle encounter (the guy in the mocha tank top and the dude in the pink shirt) is also notable. You witness different levels of "Beard love" people express themselves with.
some of the creator's thoughts:
I first became interested in making the “Beard Love” series of videos because of my growing fascination with facial hair on men and its connection to society. The connection I make with facial hair is that it is usually worn by men of power: the father, the leader, and other iconic masculine figures throughout history, fantasy, and mythology. This idea of power in the wearer of the beard connects to many ideas I have about masculinity and manliness. Taking these ideas, I have looked at the way men and facial hair are both connected to masculinity, and how the beard has become fetishized by the bear community. I see the homosexual man with facial hair as a symbol for masculinity that has been stripped from mainstream gay culture (especially American gay culture). The queer bearded man then becomes the icon of masculinity and a representation of what I feel is somewhat lacking in gay culture.
Aside from the social fetish connection to masculinity, I feel that the beard and the role of the father are connected with a form of dominance in the family. I wanted to have masculine men with facial hair interact in a boyish, playful way, to change the idea of the father from aggressor to something more sensual, thereby “queer-ing” certain aspects of the ideal family. It may sound confusing, conflicting, and uncomfortable in many ways, but I like the idea of two fully grown men sharing the intimacy of rubbing each others beards together in a private space.
The beard is clearly a fetish for me as well. I love the way it feels on a man’s face, I love how it can grow, change shape, color, size, and make a man look older than he is. These differences are all dependent upon the wearer and how he decides to manipulate his beard’s features; the shaping and growth of it allows him to change his look and ultimately his identity, making the way he is viewed by others changeable and fluid. The videos also focus on how a beard feels through image as well as sound: it's soft, prickly, fuzzy, and having it rub against your face can be as erotic as kissing.
There are other things in this work that is worth a peep.
anywho, i thought those were interesting work.

I would have to reply with
"Bros before hoes, man"
But seriously, if you think that there could be any sort of fallout from this that could permanently damage you and your friend's relationship, it probably isn't worth it.

Awww, Encyclopedia Dramatica.
I just found this on there:
Difference between homos and faggots
The short version: homos are normal people who have man sex in private and keep it that way, faggots flaunt it and demand to be treated better than Gods.
The long version: faggots may exhibit one or more of the following behaviors:
Wearing that stupid rainbow shit.
Making out with another guy in public.
Talking with a lispth.
Marching in a "gay pride" parade, typically in silver speedos or some other hideous faggot costumery.
Demanding that a gay tax be passed, also known as, gay marriage.
Talking about sex they have never had 24/7.

Wow... so umm...today I was work and ready to leave when my BF calls me up. We end up talking about action figures and whatnot when he pulls up to my job. Turns out he was nearby at a toy store just eye up stuff. So anyways...since we're at work we decide to get something to eat. WELL, being the dummy that I am, I had forgotten that my mother was going to pass by to pick me up to take me home.
So she walks up to us sitting next to each other with a basilisk's stone stare on her face. I'm like "OH HEY MA!... Ummm...I forgot to call you back...Ummmm......................this is my friend Rob. Rob this is my mom Damaris". Rob gets up and shakes my mom's hand. At this point I'm like ahhh crap... So I tell my mom that she can go back home and that I'd be going with Rob to our college campus since he has to take a test. She says okay and gives me another look as we leave and I just say "Mama, I love you....don't hurt me"
So now I'm at the campus waiting for Rob to finish his class test.

Yo Mech, have you tried temping? If you can type fast, know how to use Windows and Office, it might be easy to find a temp job. Temp jobs are also a great way to build up your resume and experience.
Plus temp jobs are really boring, so you don't mind if they fall through.
And man, I started going to the gym again last week (as opposed to just doing weights at home). I've started over, this time with my brother showing me proper form for everything. Listen to this man.
When I was in college I started temping. Although it was more like full time temp, cause I got lucky. Some places pay more than regular job, as they don't have to give you benefits. Look for Data entry for sure, if you can type fast, you're in. Last job I worked at I typed about 100+ an hour, which was about double the average what people there were typing, so I was getting around $13 an hour, more than what anyone there was.
ramberk
06-20-2008, 04:17 PM
Yup. Temping pays way better then a fast food job or a typical sales person job. You just got to be able to handle sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours, typing a lot and possible handling customers on the phone.
I've had a lot of temps jobs (sigh) and the vast majority of them have been good experiences. The people at your temp job sites are generally cool because they know you're a temp and you're new to their environment and work.
The only other piece of advice I give you is to not coast on temp jobs. Its easy to just temp for a long time but your doing yourself a big disservice by doing that. Temp jobs have lousy (or non-existent) benefits. Temp agencies also don't look out for you after they get you the job. They won't care about upping your salary or finding you a better job. Use the temp job as a stepping stone for a better job or as a in-between job while your going to school or just for earning money while you wait for something better to happen. It's easy becoming a "career" temp and you don't want to do that. :(

So I had a funny thing happen to me recently.
Last week, I had a guitarist reply to one of my musician ads and I met up with him to hear him play. Guy was damn good so I took him in and we were going to get some shit going.
Just yesterday, he had apparently found out about my orientation (via myspace, no less). After confirming it with me, he promptly quit and admitted to me straight up that it was because he didn't like it. This eventually gave me the nagging feeling that many of the other people I tried out who left for whatever reason have all probably had the exact same problem but were a lot less up front about it.
I really should be used to this kind of shit (I get it a lot from other people's parents), but the truth is I'm really not at all, and it kind of hit me pretty hard. My confidence is entirely shaken as a result and I'm at a complete loss as to whether or not I should even bother continuing this project.

My confidence is entirely shaken as a result and I'm at a complete loss as to whether or not I should even bother continuing this project.
the only advice i can offer is what a wise and respected member of the music community once told me.
And that is..
"Please don't stop the music."
time and again i'm shown that you don't get to be a pussy when you are following your ambition. Keep going.

Something you have to remember is that a lot of folks feel this way because they're worried about what others might think of them, and it's more social than personal. From my experiences, most people aren't terribly sure of themselves, regardless of how in-control they try to appear, and they're terrified of what others might think of them. And it isn't rare that people take things out on the object or person that might bring them some kind of (often purely imagined) ridicule. In this case, you.
The other scenario is that this guy is genuinely against you being gay, and is closed-minded on the topic. When working with someone artistically, these types (closed-minded/easily offended) are usually the worst collaborators. They either have already decided what good and bad art is (in this case, music), and they're often stubborn and afraid to try new things. If you suggest going against the grain of what they're used to, they'll fight you on it instead of just trying it and seeing how it sounds. They're usually content being pale copies of former pioneers, instead of pioneering something themselves.
These are not blanket scenarios. I'm sure there are exceptions. But I haven't seen many of them.
So yeah, I guess that's just my long-winded version of: Fuck that guy, he was either chicken shit, or he'd likely have been nothing more than a technically proficient player who'll never be noted for anything.

The way I see it, when shit like that happens, is I'd rather them be up front with it and get the fuck out of my life, than having to deal with some retard like that. Even in your situation I'd consider it no loss - I wouldn't want to make music with someone like that, if they were good or not.

It's not so much that I'm pussying out. It's really moreso about the viability of it.
Metal as a whole is a rather homophobic genre on the surface, despite the almost endless praise for someone like Rob Halford of Judas Priest. It's what I want to do (excuse me, WILL do) regardless, I just wanted to do it without something as insignificant as my sexual orientation being an issue. What this has shown me is that apparently I have to lay it out on the table before anything, and I loathe having to do that because I hate letting something like that define me because it really doesn't.
-snip-
Yeah, his problem seemed to stem moreso from the social stigma from what I could gather.
Oddly enough, he also mentioned that he couldn't tell I was gay, and that seemed to bother him for some reason, but I blame that on age and inexperience more than anything (he actually went out of his way to ask me if I had aids).

I feel the same way, actually. I'm really just frustrated because I've been attempting this for something around 2 years and I've had countless people show interest and then quit cold turkey for what seems like no reason at all. I don't know what to think, but I feel like shit at the moment because it feels like my orientation is actually limiting me and that's never a good feeling. :(
Gotta run back to work, brb.
