I've taken on more work per their request but i'm not getting any feedback, negative or positive. I would suggest you make a complaint in their complaint or suggestion box about this or tell your human resources manager. If things don't improve and you decide to get a new job make sure they know why you left so that they can see that its an issue that they need to fix.

In any case, this weekend is Long Beach pride. Two of my friends have asked me if I'm going but it isn't too appealing to me. Not like I have ever been to a pride event though, but do the majority of you guys enjoy them?

The company treats me well, I have no managerial complaints thus far (i'm a leader of the Leadership team, also), but it'll be nice to hear i'm doing a bang-up job. I'll consider informing them of my dissatisfaction, and thanks for the advice, buddy.

I've never been to a pride event. It would be appealing to go at least once, with friends of course. San Francisco is the "gay mecca" if there was one, and i'm not too far from there. As far as enjoying them, I don't know yet. I've heard horror stories of strange men/woman uninhibitedly groping/kissing/licking people, cumshots out of random balconies, and other wacky stuff.

Alright, so I pissed off a bunch of feminine gay black men today. I said that I didnt believe that some of them couldnt or shouldnt use their desire to wear womens clothing and be loud and abrasive as a crutch for their "personality." I said that their behavior was learned (not homosexualtiy) but the actual lifestyle, and that it would be VERY hard to be taken serious and be PROFESSIONAL in a business world. I then went on to say that some of them tend to adsorb the negative attention they get, even fester on it, then turn around and act as if they are victims and set the "regular gay" guys back 10 steps.


And they blew me to shreds.


If any of you guys stay in or around a big city, im sure you know all too well what im talking about when your local "gay pride" rolls around.


I only used black men in particular since im of color, and thats who im around the most. Not that black and white make any difference.


Anyway, I ended up grossly offending them for some reason and they cursed me the fuck out. I dont seem to think Im wrong. I think its really a cry for attention and really pitiful that they rather reinforced the NEGATIVITY and the stereotypes that really hold gays in a negative light.

I cant speak for where you guys are but I know Lennox Mall in Atlanta on a random saturday, its overwhelming. I just dont understand why these guys have to make a caricature of themselves in that they must go around spewing glitter and shoveling rainbows down others throats.

Not saying is right that gays are shunned in society, but at the same time, BE MINDFUL of your environment. Dont do things to irritate the framework of society then put your tail in between your legs when you are met with opposition. OK, so here's the deal. While I agree with you generically speaking, and I agree with GTC. What went wrong here is that you did to them what a great deal of people have done (and still do) to black people in general.

That is that you saw very flamboyant girly 'diva' gay men who seem to fit every stereotype under the sun about gay people. Then you assumed that this wasn't really who they are but more a face they put on to appear just that much more rebellious of typical societal norms.

The problem was all of the assumptions you made. While it's possible they were just being ridiculous it's also possible that is who they are and they should be free to be so. Yes a good deal of people like this do so more for attention and to stand out than it being who they really are, but you, as an outsider, have no way of knowing ahead of time that this is the case.

So this then leaves the issue of is it simply that they act this way at all? Regardless if it is who they are or not? If so then we have reached the crux of the problem, which is with you and not them. Who is anyone to tell another person who they should be and how they should act. As for being taken seriously professionally... well that depends on exactly what they plan to do and if they care whether or not they are taken seriously in certain settings or not. They may have no desire what so ever to move up the corporate ladder in a standard typical American company. The professional world is not the only place to be successful and happy.

Admittedly, sometimes I feel that. Most people don't know I'm gay until I start talking about dudes I like, and then they're usually rather surprised because they have that whole "why isn't he acting like someone from Will and Grace" thing going on in their heads. It does suck that "gay" refers moreso to a culture and a set of stereotypes than just straight up sexual preference.

Sure, that's one way of looking at it. The other way is the way most groups think of things, and that is that it is "society" that needs to change and be more accepting rather than them. Because let's remember that "society" is not this mystical external entity that is controlling things but something that we are apart of.

Consider what it is about "society" that would keep said person down? It is nothing more than the assumptions being made and visual superficial impressions. Just because a man is wearing a blouse and carrying a purse and even wearing makeup and flaming all day doesn't mean said person couldn't be quite the shrewd business person and even a genius in their field. How they dress, act etc really has no bearing on what they can do. It's just that the nature of people is to judge based on the superficial rather than the actual merits of ones abilities. It is this sort of nature we need to change.

That is exactly what black people have done over the years is to change the prejudgement based solely on how one looks. Women have done the same. Most notably "hot" women who have this stigma of being "dumb" because they're hot which of course makes no sense.

Got back from Florida on Sunday. The south trips me out. So does the rest of the US in general because IT'S SO FLAT! omg. The rest of the states are sooooo flat and grid-like. Never realized it scares me to not be around mountains. The tap water sucks, and the public bathrooms are way gross in comparison to where I'm from. Of course this is just generalizations from where I was but that's how it seemed to me.

The ocean is way better though. The sand is much finer and therefore easier to walk on, more pleasant between your toes, and not to mention prettier. However then it goes everywhere in the water, so if you're underwater too long you get sand stuck in your ears. Not pleasant on flights home with the ear-popping and whatnot. Really though the sand is so fucking fluffy. It's amazing. I am spoiled now - our sand sucks ass.

Waffle houses are awesome. Everyone is pretty genuinely friendly, it's cute. Girls with southern drawls are cute. I love being served food by them. :lol:

Need to wear spf70 next time though, 30 still got me red as a lobster. Tons of freckles now, too. Shoulders are peeling, ugh. Hate peeling.

Yep. That's Florida. Flat, fucked up bathrooms, Waffle Houses, muggy during Summer, crazy cops, speed traps, lots of flea markets. All in all, pretty fun.

I can't comment much on how bear guys act in person since I don't actually get to talk to many in public (read: bars, clubs) since I'm too young to go into them. I usually meet them through the internet like bear411 where I met my BF. Though I'm sure I'll get to see what you're talking about when I go to Bearadise this year.

Okay then, I shall give a small intro.

I'm eboNicS, I come from the Counter-Strike 1.6 community, just recently got into fighting games, specifically SF4.
But, that's CS and I'm pretty much done with the competitive aspect of that given that I've done what I wanted to, compete in a major/international LAN tournament. So, now its SF4! :]
