And you know, it's hard not be a little dissapointed with it. First of All you have this trailer.

As far as trailers go, I remember watching this trailer in the teather and thinking. Damn, this is a movie I want to watch.

In the trailer we have the following. Funny scene in which we see one of the main characters being funny. Rock music plays and we see Benition del Toro driving down the dessert with Ryan Phillippe. Then we see smoking and porn and lots of guns. All this is happening with a fairly interesting monologue being heard in the background. Followed by cool action scenes with cool action music playing. End the trailer with a few good jokes. All and all a good trailer.

I'll give you that Ryan Philleppe being in the movie, might be enough to turn a lot of people off. Since Ryan is your typical hollywood pretty boy. I mean, his last name is Phillipe, how can you not hate a guy named Phillipe. However the movie also features Benition del Toro. Benition Del Toro fresh of Fear and Loading and The Usual Suspect is cool enough to overcome the " Philippe " factor.

On top of that, the movie has Taye Diggs in a suit and with shot guns and hand guns and JAMES FUCKING CAAN. It was also written and directed by the guy who did The Usual Suspects, Christopher McQuarrie. Did I forget to mention he won an academy award for that movie. To me, that sounds like full of win.

Did I mention this movie has James Fucking Caan? One of the absolute coolest guy to ever been capture in film?

I finnaly got around to seeing this movie last week. You see, this movie bombed. It just kinda dissapeared out of the radar. I was hoping this would be a rare hidden gem like Office Space and City of God. One of those movies that failed for all the wrong reasons. Movies that were perhaps too smart for the audience to appreciate.

But no, I just found it to be a bad movie. Perhaps I should watch a few more times. Perhaps I didn't get it. I'm watching the movie with commentary on and I really like what they were trying to acomplish intellectually. But the execution of the original goals just seem to fall short of expectations.

How do you feel about it? I'm just hoping maybe someone can shed some light about this movie.

I remember that some people got shot in it, and I remember it had some one handed reloading shown near the end of the movie, in the last firefight. I think I laughed at a lot of the rest of it, so I don't think you missed much in your review. A flat out gun movie that I guess tried to seem more intellectual.

I'll go track down my burn of it and watch it again, but I don't know if I'll like it anymore.

the first 10 minutes of this movie is worth it. Any time a woman gets smacked in the face for being an out an out bitch and trying to get her man to fight her battles.. that's thumbs up

Yeah the first ten minutes are pretty good. I think this is what happens when you hand out the reings to a writer and first time director.

I made a mistake in my first post. He was the writer of The Usual Suspects and this was his debut as a director. He also wrote to movie. Apparently the studio let him do whatever he wanted and well... it seems the demise of the movie was being too true to their artistic ideals.

I can only say this in retrospective after watching the movie with commentary.
