Are there any games that you are doomed to suck at forever?

You know, I've been playing vidoegames for a long time. Just about anything I played, I was able to grasp in minutes. That's still true for most games today. But I'm going to talk about a few games that I'll suck at forever. Super Mario Kart Double Dash!!! I can't play this shit to save my life. I was good at all the previous games before it. But no matter how much I play this shit, I just can't get it down. Now I suck at just about all sports games with the exception of arcade style sports games like the NFL/NBA Street games. But I know that if I play enough madden, I can get good at it because it does what I want when I play. But yeah, that's the game that I'll never ever in a bajillion years be able to play.

I'll never be good at first person shooters. I don't think I've ever finished one. I can pretty much assure there is no Shooter in the Planet that I can finish. I'm trying to play Halo in normal and it's not going very well.

Not so much a game per say, but I think I'm destined to suck eternally at V-ISM in SFA 3. Maybe it's because it's not as mash-friendly as CCs in SFA 2, but my execution for the more complicated combos just suck (for example, Karin's mutliple OTG VCs). I'm a BIT better in A-groove in CvS 2, but not by much. :sweat:

Most turn based RPGs like Disega and Hoshigami (which is a really cool game). Although I'm pretty good at Advance Wars DS. And yeah scrolling shooters I'm pretty bad at but I don't invest as much time as I do with fighters.

I can not play console fps. I do enjoy shooters and I will kick some ass in the original quake, but you get a controller in my hand instead of a mouse and keyboard and I might as well walk of a cliff. I worked pretty hard at some 3rd person shooters on console to get the basics down like circle strafing and stuff, but I really can't apply it properly, so I just stopped.

I also don't think I will ever have the mindset for any MMO. I've tried a lot of them and I never get into the whole "community" thing. I also can NOT grind, I just give up and go play something I enjoy.

I can bet there's games you think you're decent at, that someone that's good knows you suck.

It's like people that tell me they are good at hockey, then when they get on the ice they are fucking horrible......people really need to get a clue and stop trying to make themselves feel better or make other people think they are good at something.


Anyway. I suck balls at MvC2...that whole series really. I'm not very good at Tetris either. Tetris attack i can rock people....tetris not so much. I can beat n00bs at RTSs but if i play someone that's good, or some of my buddies i get smoked.

In terms of video games - the Mortal Kombat series outside of Deadly alliance - the only one I got decent in.

well, I wouldn't use the term "suck" in this case of course....but I'll never be better than "average" or "halfway decent" at FPS, simply because I cannot tolerate keyboard+mouse controls for more than a few minutes. It's just the worst possible way to play any game, imo. There is absolutely nothing comfortable about that bullshit. Control pads/joysticks for life....that's the real way to play games, imo.

I'm very bad at sports games, and yes, I will get owned every time in Madden. I even have trouble beating up the computer where I have to end up beating up on the bad teams hehe. I really have no idea how to play those games.

I'm also not very good at fighting games either. I can beat up the computer like anyone can, but against actual players, I'll lose to anyone that has any idea of what they're doing. I have no idea how to "triangle jump" "kara throw" "roll cancel" "fly/unfly" etc. I haven't even really matured too much beyond c.MK -> fireball and I can SOMETIMES do an AHVBx3. That's about all I can do!

I suck at madden and nba live but i know enough to beat a rookie. I can say that for the most part the games that I suck at are the ones that I dont care about as much or want to spend the time to learn the game mechanics of it. I'd say that getting better at a game is relative to how much interest a person has in it and how good they want to be in it. If you really want to get better at a game then you would probably study the game to get better, like how people study sf3 in order to improve. And sometimes some people dont learn from a loss in a game and say screw it I suck and never improve.
But on the thread topic, IMHO I dont think there are games that you will never understand or just plain out unless you never really try to get better in them. And sometimes people get turned off when someone else grasps the game concept fast and other not as fast, and say i suck and quit.

I never bothered to become good in PC FPS games, just because I got tired of getting kicked out of servers because of stupid shit like scoring a lucky headshot on a douchebag clan leader or something.

Only FPS I played for any extended time were Quake (playing online was a novelty to me), UT2004 (was in a decent clan, but work demands caught up to me), and Halo 2 (as relatively bad a FPS it is, it was still fun goofing off with friends in that game).

3S. I will never get Kara Throwing down. Ever. With all the Magneto and Sentinel stuff I can whip out, I can't get that Kara shit down. I guess it's because Marvel is so relaxed when it comes to execution. To a point, anyway. That point is just minimized even more in terms of 3S. I'll vouche for TopGun NES. I haven't played the game since I was in elementary, but I could never for the life of me, refuel that damn plane mid-air.


Megaman 1 NES. Best Megaman in the series, and imo the most difficult. I haven't played any in the X series, but MM1 is a beast.


Double Dragon 3 NES. The last boss always owned me. It probably took me 100 tries WITH my brother to beat the bitch.


Punch Out NES. Not Mike Tyson's Punch Out, but just regular ol' Punch Out. Mr. Perfect is the last boss, some giant white guy. I ate KO's like flies on shit. It's funny how they replaced Tyson because of the controversy. I bought the game thinking Mike was in it, and was shocked he got replaced by some Nazi dude.
