Yea, I saw this trailer (albeit not as clear) on Youtube late last week. I'm stoked. DMC was made to be an anime. Its over the top style is an obvious homage to Anime.

I love the games but this is Capcom animation we're talking about here. Yeah, the art may look nice but what about the writing? That's where their films usually tank. I'll be renting this one first. I don't wanna pay $30 for a DVD that will most likely suck.

Yeah in Japan all of the games are in English too, they hear the same dialog we hear - they get Japanese subtitles is all.

In the anime Dante's being voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa who does Ryu and Nash's(Charlie) voices in the Street Fighter video games, yeah I think I mentioned that before in this thread but so what.

I hope when they dub this anime they will use the same voices from the DMC games. I mean... it seems like common sense but I dunno about the dubbing industry sometimes... How much you wanna bet Dante will get Spike Speigel's voice of Cowboy Bebop 'cuz that guy works on everything... not that it's a bad voice but that guy is everywhere...

Lol I just found out that Trish will be voiced by Atsuko Tanaka. While she is most famous for voicing Motoko of Ghost in the Shell, she also does Chun-Li's voice in SF3 Third Strike, CFJ and Namco x Capcom. Oh snap Dante's already being voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa who provides Ryu's voice in the majority of his video game appearances like I've said about 100 times on this thread already lol. BRILLIANT!!! RYU AND CHUN-LI FOREVER! I'm mostly a Lady fan but Trish just went up a few notches in my book. :lovin:

man, i just finally seen all the ep's and the only thing good was the animation...the story was loosely based on the game, and the fact that the series took 14 ep's to get out of the whole "flashback stories" is making me kinda skeptical about this whole series. this is coming from a guy who played and beat both games first.

DMC:A, based on these first 3 ep's, is showing me that this shyt is gonna move as slow as Gungrave did...at least nobody is saying everybody's full name every 5 seconds. cant you just say, "Bunji"?!

Sano

Yeah. More and more it looks like it's taking place between DMC3 and DMC1, with the picture of Dante's mom on his desk and Dante fighting Phantom in the intro.

DMC2 and Lucia... Capcom now states that DMC2 takes place far into the future, (yes it's still canon) after the events of part 4 so we have no idea how much time has passed or whether or not Dante ages normally, making it at least difficult for Trish and Lady to show up with Lucia without some kind of official statement when/how much time passes before 2 takes place.... Trish might not age normally either (while her being in DMC2 officially is not official Capcom confirmed she does have the Sparda Blade for some reason as shown in DMC2, but that's evident in DMC1's ending where she has the Sparda Blade...) but Lady by all means should age normally... Well, I haven't had the chance to see the raw of the fourth ep that introduces Trish yet...

And yeah we still don't know why in the games Trish is not with Dante and why his shop went back to being called Devil May Cry instead of Devil Never Cry... maybe part 4 will have some answers...

Bingo Morihashi who was one of the writers for the second, third and fourth games of DMC is on the writing staff for the anime so there shouldn't be too many storyline hiccups, in theory anyway.

-tons of info goodness
aye, good lookin out on that.

we're both on the same page with "assuming" that the anime takes place after DMC3 and before DMC.
DMC2 and Lucia... Capcom now states that DMC2 takes place far into the future
this...kinda makes a ton of sense when you take in account that in DMC2, Dante seemed more mature and feel that he manuvers a lot better than he does compared to the 1st one (but ovbious not to the 3rd). only reason why i say, "kinda" is because it's like this is suppose to be a second installment to the series but it does'nt really have any connections to the 1st (other than the last 2 boss battles and the single battle against the Phantom). then here comes the 3rd and it's a prequel...
or whether or not Dante ages normally....Trish might not age normally either (while her being in DMC2 officially is not official Capcom confirmed she does have the Sparda Blade for some reason as shown in DMC2, but that's evident in DMC1's ending where she has the Sparda Blade...)
i think Dante still ages even though he's part demon. look at DBZ, Gouku and Vegeta's hair never really grows or do they really show their age, while Gohan, Trunks, and Gouten's hair grows like a normal human...i bet Dante only ages very slowly while Trish never ages at all. think about it. she looks too much like Dante's mom...an obvious doing from Mundus *sp. Lady would show her age since she's human...i think.
And yeah we still don't know why in the games Trish is not with Dante and why his shop went back to being called Devil May Cry instead of Devil Never Cry... maybe part 4 will have some answers...
for one thing:
Trish looks like Dante's mom = aw hell naw
refering to the name change to his shop...good fuckin' question
IMO, part 4 will be like 2...as in story...hopefully.

i think the anime is gonna be very similar to the actual comic. im not sure if that was Udon or not. never sat down and read a lot of the shyt. i just know i've seen scans of the comics like a while back. the first comic happend very similar to the begining of the 1st episode...almost exactly like it...

Dreamwave did the comic. They went belly up before they put out the last issue. Wasn't bad except they had Dante talking waaay too much, he had full conversations with himself and with demons that couldn't talk back. Thought balloons would of fixed that problem or even captions but I don't think there was a thought balloon in the book and captions were few and far between. I think the writer was getting paid by the word. Dante shouldn't talk that much IMHO. Anime, manga, even the book novels got this right and the comic dropped the ball on that. Still the artwork was tight and it was a nice adaptation of the first game, too bad they never put out the final issue...

Apparently the anime's actually after DMC1 and before DMC4. From what I heard about the profiles on the site, Trish leaves Dante to travel around the world and figure out who she is or something like that. Bitch, you look NOTHING like Dante's mom so where's the identity crisis coming from...?

If that's true...I guess Dante decided "Devil Never Cry" sounded like ass and changed that shit as soon as she got on the plane.

Seen up to episode six now subtitled. In episode 5 (first time I played the series on my TV BTW) there's a scene where he's holding up Ebony towards the mafia. On the gun you can see that it says in gold letters, "FOR TONY REDGRAVE BY .45 ART WARKS" like it is supposed to, talk about attention to detail! :lovin:

There's some sketches of a younger Dante as Tony Redgrave in the Devil May Cry Graphic File that was released earlier this year in Japan, (you can see the 'TONY REDGRAVE' inscription on the gun too in that book) and the first novel offered Tony Redgrave as a name he was using for a time. Though DMC3 later contradicted a bunch of stuff in that novel.

Near as I can tell, Tony Redgrave is a name Dante was going by at one point when he recieved those guns. I suppose, don't think we know the reason officially why his guns say Tony Redgrave...

That Mermaid song in Episode 6 was great, I hope they include it on a soundtrack for this anime. The opening music rules too! I've been humming it at work like a dork!

Here's some stuff to know if you haven't watched the series. Anyone who's watched the episodes or played the games feel free to correct me when necessary.

First, basic stuff about the anime in general. No spoilers really except for some stuff that happens in the games. So... if you haven't played DMC1, DMC2 or DMC3 and want to avoid any and all spoilers... man what are you doing reading this thread? There's a collection out now for PS2, go play it and come back in 50 hours.

- The series is done by the same crew that did the Death Note anime, which is REALLY GOOD and is headed for Adult Swim at some point. I hope they don't mess up the dub because that is a crime punishable by Kira of Death Note... anyway, Devil May Cry started airing in Japan as soon as Death Note finished.

- Thankfully there are no scenes of typical anime stuff, I'm talking about the drop of sweat that magically appears on the back of people's heads or people running around with big heads and little bodies. Hey you laugh but I've seen it happen to stuff with really serious tones once it turned into an anme... And so far no scenes that I can recall of people with mouths on the sides of their faces or at the very least it's not as obvious as every single episode of Pokemon. :wasted:

- Dante is being voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa who provides Ryu's voice in most of his video game appearances! Trish is being voiced by Atsuko Tanaka who provides Chun-Li's voice in Street Fighter III Third Strike, CFJ and Namco x Capcom! And this is the very first time I've mentioned this. What, I'm not some kind of Ryu and Chun-Li fanatic, whistle whistle whistle...

- The series takes place after DMC1 and pressumably before DMC4. The only reason I say pressumably is because we know next to nothing about DMC4 except that occurs after DMC1. REALLY likely it takes place prior to DMC4 though. The official DMC timeline according to Capcom is DMC3, DMC1, DMC4 and DMC2 happens far into the future.

- Much like the games there is no specific year given when it happens. Though the anime so far seems like it is taking place in the 80s or 90s, guestimate. I haven't seen a cell phone - people have phones with cords with rotary dialing, the TV I saw wasn't a flat screen and I saw a telephone booth where you could close the door behind you, remember those? And Dante's Juke Box plays small records, no CDS. But the person who fan subbed episode 6 called them CDs to make me feel old... gee thanks. :annoy: Anyway, this may not be indicative of any type of timeline but a feeling they are trying to get across, like Batman The Animated Series.

- Still no idea where he lives but much like the novels there's hints of Italy. With the Opera, full suited mafia members and some of the scenery by the water too. But people drive on the left side like us in the States and not on the right, maybe some place in North America? Who knows...

- Only weapons he's used so far by episode 6 are Rebellion, Ebony and Ivory. Trish uses guns, she hasn't use the Sparda Blade that she had at the end of DMC1 and DMC2 (and Capcom says she has it officially). Lady has an assortment of weapons and a bunker of sorts where she keeps them. She has a motorcycle too.

- Dante has a motorcycle and a car. Vroom vroom!

- The premise is a lot like Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star, in that the episodes tend to start off with Dante being in debt, getting a job and winding up in even more debt than he was when the episode started, poor Dante...

- Dante's entire diet consists of Pizza and Strawberry Sundaes. He drinks beer and wine too. Don't try this at home...

- Dante can be seen fighting Phantom of Devil May Cry 1 and 2 in the opening credits.

- In the first episode Morrison flipped a coin in a game of heads or tails. I dunno if it is 'the coin' from Devil May Cry 2 that also appeared in Dante's cameo in Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne since it was colored yellow/gold instead of silver/white, curious that it landed heads though so make of that what you will. Call this one dang nerd reading too much into things....

- Speaking of Morrison he provides the role Enzo provided in both the manga and novels, that of finding Dante work.

- The other new character is Patty, a little girl through circumstances in the first ep came to live with Dante. Typical cute little girl tossed into an anime to not scare the kiddies when things got too rough. The American equivalent? Snarf, Orko, Uni... okay she's not that bad I guess...

- Even though it takes place after DMC1 his spot is called "Devil May Cry" like part 2 and not "Devil Never Cry" like it was after part 1. The series points out that Trish left Dante believing she should work alone. Like AlphaDragoon02 pointed out above, after she left Dante most likely realized the name "Devil Never Cry" sucks and changed it back.

- There's Demons AKA Devils loose in this world of course. It is also possible for humans to become Devils, kind of like Arkham did in DMC3. If you want something badly, Devils may even approach you to either aid in converting you into one or getting you to aid their cause. If Dante regards you as a Devil he will show you no mercy. There was an instance where a Devil was really a good person so Dante made an exception.

- Much like the games there are no heavy themes of angels and/or religion/catholicism. Just the bad stuff like Devils...

- Ebony and Ivory have the inscriptions "FOR TONY REDGRAVE BY .45 ART WARKS" the way they do in official artwork.

- The action is not... how to put this... way over the top like the cut scenes in DMC3 that were directed by Kitamura Ryūhei who directed the Japanese movie Versus - really is anything THAT crazy? Maybe some John Woo flicks... The action is more in the flavor of the first Devil May Cry game's cut scenes if anything. It does have it's moments and there's lots of blood - ME LIKE - but no way is it as crazy as the DMC3 stuff... Well Kitamura Ryūhei will be back to direct the cut scenes in DMC4 so I suppose that's more important in the grand scheme of things. :lovin:

- Dante hides Rebellion on a big guitar case straped to his back sometimes when it's appropriate.

- Dante hasn't shown his Demon Form yet. I'm betting they are holding that off for the final ep...

- Haven't you people learned not to give me excuses to run my mouth? Brief episode synopsis next!

Trish is being voiced by Atsuko Tanaka who provides Chun-Li's voice in Street Fighter III Third Strike, CFJ and Namco x Capcom!

Just to add some more info, Atsuko Tanaka also voices Motoko Kusanagi in both of the Ghost in the Shell movies and both seasons of the anime. I'm a Ghost in the Shell fanboy, so I had to add that.

I just finished watching Episode 6.

One of the best episodes yet, it was awesome.

Episode 5 sucked.

And I've only played DMC3, so I WANT THOSE OVER THE TOP CUT SCENES!!
Argh! And Dante isn't cocky enough.

Also, Kalina Ann is pretty crazy in the anime...but then again, it was pretty crazy in the game as well.

Episode synopsis, brief stuff going by memory. There may be mistakes here and there so feel free to correct. Veoh has all 6 eps, so if you are able to go there and watch them first. If you don't want things spoiled look away look away...

Dante is charged with looking after Patty Royal, a little orphan girl who is said to inherit a fortune. Demons are sent after her. Soon it is revealed that she is not the real Patty Royal, the real one found that she had the same exact name and used her as a decoy. Dante slaughtered the Devils that were after her including the other realtives set to inherit the fortune if Patty Royal was dead who became Devils too. The other young orphan Patty had no where else to go so Dante took her in awe...

Best moments - She saw a picture of Dante's mother on his desk. She thought she was his girlfriend. Trish and Dante's mom look exactly alike BTW.

The other great moment was there was a demon masquerading as Patty's late Opera singing mom. When Dante went to save her on stage he shot down the curtain that revealed scenery. He said something along the lines of, "Kids can't see this part it's rated R!" and you could see his silhouette slaughtering Devils while the scenery changed a few times, gangsta!

Lady appears and says she needs help with a job, Dante apparently owes her a lot of money. Lady is way more chilled out then she was in DMC3, course some time has passed since then. The case involves a motorcycle demon who visits a certain highway. Dante and Lady defeat the baddie.

Best Moments- During the battle Dante on his motorcycle destroyed an entire bridge with just Ebony and Ivory. DANTE > PROPERTY GET IT RIGHT!

But yeah, because he did that he wound up owing the city a lot of money so he didn't get paid and he is still in debt.

Dante's mission is to kill a Devil named Brad who looks like a human and has fallen in love with a rich man's daughter. The rich man obviously wants his daughter away from the Devil. Dante meets Brad and realizes he is not a bad Devil, he only entered this world recently and was supposed to pave the way for his Devil God to come to Earth. In 'Hell' he was not regarded as a strong Devil at all, he is rather weak. He has the power to heal wounds but that is not thought of much in the Demon world. Dante spares him saying that he is a terrible Devil but he would make a good human. They bring up the fact that Dante himself is a product of a human and a demon coming together. Anyway, the rich man's butler - IT'S ALWAYS THE BUTLER LOL - was the real Devil trying to get the Devil God to come to Earth. Dante put a stop to him and the Devil God from entering our realm. Since he failed to kill Brad like the rich man wanted Dante made no money again... he was still rather happy with the result.

Best moment - There was a scene where Dante and Brad were plagued by a Devil that kind of looked like Batman's Joker or closer to home, DMC3's Jester. He could travel through walls. Dante held him off and he spoke a little more with Brad. He pointed a gun at Brad and fired a shot at him. In the next scene you saw that he didn't shoot Brad but he pointed the gun straight up to finally kill that Joker looking Devil. Yeah Dante has a heart of gold lol!

Lady is slaughtering Devils and she encounters Trish. Trish uses her guns to send electricty to a Devil and kill him. Lady quickly thinks that Trish is a demon, they fight but Trish gets away. Later Lady is contacted by a priest who hires her to kill Trish. Both Lady and Trish get in contact with Dante but he is really vague about who both of them are to each other. Trish and Lady meet again and they have a full on fight! Before there are any casualties Dante approaches them. They ask him if he knew about both of them why didn't he inform them prior to them fighting, Dante says that in their line of work things get boring fighting minor Devils so both of them could use a good challenge and he felt that both of them were too skilled to actually be killed by the other. They speak about Trish leaving Dante believing they should split up so she could hunt Devils on her own, Lady shows signs of jealousy! :wow: Of course she denies it and says there's no way she can like a guy who eats Pizza and Strawberry Sundaes all day. Trish gets mad at him saying "You still do that!" and Dante is all like "Don't talk to me like my mother!":rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Trish reveals to Lady that the Priest who hired her is a Devil that she was hunting before. All 3 team up and kill the Devil Priest. The next morning Trish is in Dante's office (Hey maybe she spent the night who knows?) and she decides to leave once again, Dante offers that she can come back whenever she wants. When she leaves Lady on her motorcycle gives her a ride to the airport. To get back at Dante, both of them brought new outfits and sent the bill to Dante, Patty brought a new outfit too at the same time figuring Dante would pay for it too. DOH DARN WOMEN!

Best Moments - Lady and Trish fighting yeash what more do I have to say? And I liked Lady's bit of jealousy too. CAT FIGHT!

This is the comedy episode. There's a guy at a diner who is trying to get one of the waitresses to like him. She tells him she's not interested, that she wants to be the one to chase a guy and not the other way around, and she wishes he would be more like Dante. Dante comes into this restaurant all of the time and orders Strawberry Sundaes. The guy decides to follow Dante around to see what he is like. On the fist night Dante goes to a club and stops what seems to be a sucubus from seducing a man, pushes him to the side, takes the girl and both go into the woman's bathroom. Gun shots are heard. The guy who is following him misinterprets this, goes into the bathroom looking for Dante but gets beat up by security for going in the lady's bathroom! He tells this the girl he likes but he doesn't buy it. The next night he follows Dante as he kills a bunch of Mafia thugs who transformed into Devils, he thinks that Dante is in with the mob! Later he goes into Dante's office and the door is open. Devil ghosts speak to him in the office, telling him to free them. (Again in this show it seems Devils will approach you if you want something badly... I don't think Dante is containing Devils but I'm not too sure..) A small Devil comes into the office and hands the guy a demonic bell, what he needs to finish off Dante. Lady approaches the room he is in and the Guy escapes falling out of a window breaking a leg. DOH! At one point he even saw Dante slay a bunch of Devils! Every time he tells the waitress what he saw she doesn't believe him. The waitress tells Dante later on that she does in fact like the guy, she was just trying to tell him not to be so pushy, let her chase him a little and to be a little more like Dante but he took it the wrong way. The guy freaks out and tries to leave town. Dante stops his car, takes the Demon Bell, rings it so it can open a portal to the Hell, he slaughters all of the Devils that come out of it and then finishes off the Bell with a gunshot. He tells the guy before he runs away to tell the girl about it so she could at least chase him, he says what does she mean and Dante tells him to ask her. The next morning the guy meets Dante at the same restaurant and from the waitress he orders a Strawberry Sundae just like he does, he comes to admire Dante. Dante says he's a dork lol!

Best moments - Pure comedy so there were a few good parts but the best part was when the waitress tells Dante that the dude is nuts saying that Dante is Demon and Dante tells her "He's half right." HELL YEAH!

Dante gets angry at his Juke Box messing up so he breaks it. Morrison attempts to fix it, pointing out that Dante treats stuff really badly the same way he treats his woman ha ha HE DON'T LOVE THEM HOES! Patty notices a record he has framed, Dante claims he doesn't know the name of the actual song since the record is jacked up. Morrison gives him a security job of helping a guy who is into finding record antiques. To entertain the crew that's with them, the guy plays an album. When that song plays, a Banshee looking Devil attacks everyone with loud screams and she uses some Demon like oversized leeches too, Dante fights her off. The guy tells her the story of himself and Eliza(same name as Ken's wife even though it's not her whatever SAY WORD) about how she wanted to become a great musician and he did anything he could to make that possible, but her desire seemed to great and it seemed that she became a Devil in the process. She had a hit song but it made people crazy and her fans became people who killed others. Seems like after he one hit wonder she faded into obscurity, becoming a full Devil. Dante said he would help him get rid of her, but she was a full Devil now and there was no way to save her. During the fight the guy shot her at about the same time Dante stabbed her with Rebellion, this somehow created 2 bodies, one of the Devil that had Rebellion through her and one of the woman on the ground bleeding to death. Later, Morrison fixed Dante's juke box and he revealed that the album he had framed was the same one that Eliza sang, he gave it the same album jacket and everything. The end of the episode revealed that Eliza and her boyfriend managed to survive and they are living together.

Best moment - That song Eliza sang IN ENGLISH called Mermaid something was hella cool, hope it makes the Soundtrack. :lovin:

That's it. Now I'm off to watch some fan subs of Kenichi lol! Only up to 17 in that... at least I'm caught up on DMC...

He doesn't even give a damn and cuts through demons like a person cutting through a peice of paper.

That makes the fight sequences short...and a bit boring.

I was starting to get worried because after the first episode, the second and third were kind of disappointing. I couldn't even try to pretend that I cared about that retard on a motorcycle or the douchebag demon that fell in love. Fortunately, episode four really saved it because the Trish/Lady fight was pretty cool. While the fifth and sixth episodes couldn't quite match that, they were still better than the second and third. I'm looking forward to seeing the seventh when it gets subbed.

Endless - Ah maybe after DMC4 they'll port the collection to PC.

Vergil's tricky. If this anime gives you anything it may spoil how they want to use him in part 4, Vergil is stated to be in it but we don't know how, some think that he is somehow/someway Nero but Capcom denies that up and down, he still could be...

Course there's always flashbacks and they could show Dante and Vergil as young kids too.

I think he will be in the anime though somehow. He is incredibly popular after DMC3.

DMC3 points out that Dante and Vergil met one year prior to the game, that might be a good story to tell in a flashback. That's how I'd do it but what do I know...

Last few eps have been interesting. That little demon guy who showed up twice before in episodes 1 and 5 has come back in episodes 7 and 8, seems like he's a big player in the eventual big bad that's coming at the end of the series, he's kind of like Jester of DMC3 lol! That Devil Genie's head looked kind of like one of the Orbs in the games, I was laughing! "I don't feel like granting that wish! It doesn't suit you!"

Episode 8 touched on Dante's old name - Tony Redgrave from the games. The first novel goes in more detail about that (even though DMC3 contradicted a bunch of stuff in there) and the name Tony Redgrave is on his guns Ebony and Ivory, even in the anime when you see them up close lol!

I did see some of Dante's weapons in his office behind his desk in episode 8, but it was just 2 random swords and some random guns. Man I was looking hard for Nevan, Cerberus, Agni and Rudra, Ifrit, Force Edge or even Alastor, oh well... :looney:

Yeah, he's way more like his DMC1 / DMC2 persona - the reluctant hero - and that's how he's gonna be in DMC4 from what we know.

DMC2 he is more sinister - but after you play through the game with both characters you realize he is in fact a reluctant hero there too. It seems like he is gonna be like that in 4 when early on he will be Nero's enemy.

Here's the novel. This is where the anime got Dante's love of sundaes BTW. Mostly text, but there are a few good drawings in there. And yeah DMC3 retconned most of it like I said before.

http://www.hillcity-comics.com/graphic_novels_2006/new_graphic_novel6702.htm

This is the second one. It hasn't been retconned as much as the first novel except for references to the first novel, but it seems to shorten the time span between DMC1 and DMC2 compared to how Capcom wants it now, with DMC4 happening before 2 and 2 happening far in the future. Oh well Trish and Phantom are in it kind of... without giving anything away lol!

http://www.hillcity-comics.com/graphic_novels_2006/new_graphic_novel7693.htm

Capcom supervised both novels so there is some factual stuff in there, despite the stuff Capcom went and overturned themselves, Capcom's funny.

Quickly I have to shout out the Devil May Cry Graphic File that came out in Japan recently. LOTS of artwork, you can see they younger Dante as Tony Redgrave (plus the Tony Redgrave words on Ebony and Ivory) and Sparda's human being form! :wow: Only thing is that it is celebrating DMC 1's fifth Anniversary and it solely focuses on DMC 1, not much of anything on DMC 2 or DMC 3 (No images of Lady or Lucia). There's Vergil artwork but it's kind of hard to say where it's from because Vergil's human being designed was designed during DMC 1 even though that design didn't show up until 3. Pretty good book, I still hope they drop an English version. Below it's sold out though, Ebay might be your best route.

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-lt-49-en-70-1reb.html

OT but I have to mention this, the Vampire/Darkstalkers Graphic File is waaaaaay better and Studio Udon is supposed to drop that book in English at some point. So you might just want to wait on this one. All endings, all characters (including Dee, Marrionette, Soul Stealer), character art from their versus appearances, (MVC1-2, CVS1-2, CFJ) and REJECTED SKETCHES OF THE CHARACTERS! One of the rejected Demitri sketches even looks like Jedah ha ha! Fun book!

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-lt-49-en-70-1xly.html

There's a Rockman Zero book that is also supposed to come out in English, but that one has important storyline stuff in it via Capcom's latest retcons, so me I'm holding off until the English version comes out. Here's what it looks like, currently it's very hard to find... another one to look for on Ebay if you want it right now...

I've only played DMC 1 and 2. In the first he was being a smart ass most of the time to Griffon, Phantom, and Trish at the beginning. "Hey babe, if nature calls, its in the back" AFTER she broke through his door with a motorcycle. When Mundus kills Griffon, who was begging for help, then Dante gets serious. Everyone says that, but the game runs GREAT for me.
I'm used to playing all video games on keyboard, so the controls are actually really really good.

My laptop (which I play it on) isn't great at all (1.5ghz, 32 meg video card, 512 RAM upgraded to 2gigs. I was previously playing perfectly with 512 RAM) but it runs well.

However, I do know the game is really picky on which video card you have. My bro's desktop back home is a 128meg Nvidia and the game doesn't work. You can watch and play the movies and cutscenes, but the gameplay has the screen in all black.

If it works for you on PC, I would suggest giving it a try.

Well, my system should be able to run it without any problems. I have a 3.0 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, and a 256 MB ATI X600 video card. I wished there was a demo of it, though, to test how well it would run. I may just have to hit up Google later and see if I can find anything on how well it runs with my video card. If I would get the game, I would definitely need to buy a controller just because I don't think I would enjoy playing it with a keyboard... it wouldn't be a big deal, though, because I've been wanting to get something to make playing Melty Blood and Touhou games easier on me.

Spoiler synopsis for 7-9. Just going by memory so any mistakes and stuff like that feel free to correct.

A man goes fishing and picks up what looks like one of the yellow/red/blue/pick a color orbs from the games but not exactly as a head and a glob of goo makes up the rest of it's body. Turns out to be a Devil Genie of sorts and tells the fisherman it will grant his any wish. He asks for the usual stuff, money, fame and so on but to every wish it shoots him down, saying "I don't feel like it" "That wish doesn't suit you" and so on. So he abandons it and plays darts with his friend. His friend beats him and he tells him "I wish you were dead!" The Devil Genie comes out of nowhere and kills him. So the Fisherman goes to jail. His sister approaches Dante to help him, he got tossed in a jail that's difficult to escape from. Dante gets himself arrested, beats up the guards (who turn out to be Devils themselves) and frees the fisherman. Later Lady finds the orb in the water. She makes some wishes and it starts up with the usual "I don't feel like it" routine so she blasts it away. Later, Dante and Lady are playing cards and Dante cheats, Lady catches him in the act. She wishes Dante was dead and the Genie approaches Dante to grant that wish. They have a pretty long fight and Dante defeats him. That little demon from episode 1 and 5 returns and grabs the orb/Genie head tells Dante about a "Big Bad" coming you know like every season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer lol! Anyway, the fisherman thanks him and talks about his dead sister. Turns out the person who hired Dante for the job was his dead sister as a ghost. She smiles in the distance knowing her brother is okay and crosses over to the other side, awwww...

Best moment: Fight between the Devil and Dante was very cool and it went throughout the city. Best scene was one part when he stuck Rebellion to the side of one building, hung off of it and with the other hand was blasting at the Devil Genie hell yeah he actually broke a sweat this time lol!

A man came in to hire Dante for a job, when he saw him he called him Tony and remembered him from when they where young. Dante denied his name was Tony but he took the job. The man wanted to prove that it wasn't Tony and his mother's fault 20 years ago why there town was raided by Devils like everyone thought. He goes to his house. There's a picture of the man's brother with the young white haired Tony and the man when they were kids. He speaks to his girlfriend in private still denying that he was Tony. She tells him of a treasure chest that he boyfriend had hidden with Tony when they were kids but he will never tell her where it is. Dante mysteriously looks outside over by a tree and says that sometimes things like this are right in front of your face. That little Demon from episodes 1, 5 and 7 is the one who told the man where Dante was BTW telling him he was Tony - he rubbed in Dante's face in private, Dante tried to kill him but he broke out. Later the man does the incantation to awake Devils to the realm to prove anyone can do it and it wasn't Tony's fault they attacked back in the day. The huge Devil that appears looks at Dante and says that all Devils want his half human and half Devil blood. The man puts two and two together and figures out that it was in fact Dante's fault why Devils attacked their town when they were young because they wanted his blood. This is why Dante was denying that he was Tony. He defeats the Devil and the man curses Tony out and blames him for the destruction on the town. His girlfriend later looks by the tree after it rains, part of the treasure chest came up. He was in fact Tony. (Offically Dante went by the name Tony Redgrave for a time, it's written on his guns).

Best part - The whole ep. Some insight into Dante's past as Tony I never thought they would even touch upon that. If I had to pick a moment I suppose it would be the treasure chest coming up from the ground removing any doubt that it was Tony with his mother (not shown but mentioned) moving from town to town away from Devils when he was young. No mention of Vergil but of course that would be a dead give away that Tony was Dante too fast. Hmm, I wonder where Vergil was anyway...

A lady hires Dante for a job to stop her husband from gambling. He is going to play in a game of Poker against someone named King. Whoever loses to King in a Poker game dies. Turns out Dante was also invited to the game and they even sent him a golden watch. He goes to play the game that takes place on a cruise ship and present with him are Morrison, Patty and Lady. The game is definitly full of high rollers, a fancy lady, a man who looks like Santa Claus and is called so, the husband that was mentioned and a man who uses magic to cheat. After a bit most of them are aware of King being present at the game but no one knows King's identity. Little by little everyone dies when they lose and Dante and the husband are last, he assumes the husband is King. He loses against Dante and dies, it seems like Dante is possessed by King! Dante says he must be the best at everything and tries to kill Lady out of the blue! Lady shoots Dante in the heart and he goes down. The woman who hired Dante comes out and it turns out she is King! Or better yet King is a Devil that can possess anybody! Dante gets up, turns out they figured this all out before because earlier on Patty had the watch, was possessed and tried to kill everyone before so they figured out the way the Devil possesses people is by the watches it gives out to invite people to play the games. When Lady shot Dante she purposely missed his heart and struck the watch, he played possum but claimed it still hurt lol! They defeated the demon and all was well hooray!

Best Part: Good suspense episode, they got me for a bit on who King was, at the end I thought it was the husband but I was obviously wrong. Oh and the preview showed Dante's daddy SPARDA! That little demon who keeps hanging around along with some pointy eared dude were also seen. Like Busta Rhymes would say, "THERE'S ONLY 3 EPISODES LEFT!"

:looney:

Fights are getting longer with each episode so that's cool. Can't wait to see his Devil Trigger mode! Only four more episodes left darn it... Eh I'll just start catching up on Kenichi, I'm still back 17 episodes or so on that series....

Kinda confused here Sano on the 4 more episodes part. 4 more episodes until he uses DT? or 4 more episodes overall, series seems really young to end so fast..so I hope it's the former.

After 8 when I posted that there are 4 more episodes left. 9 was the last one to air. 10 will air tomorrow in Japan. In total it's 12 episodes.

Yeah I don't know if he will use DT but just going by the way anime shows usually end, they bust out the big guns during the last ep - Hellsing anime is the best example that comes to mind right now. But again, can't say for sure.

The OST is out cool! I'll swing by some Japanese book stores and see if they have it yet. The intro, ending and Mermaid song are going straight to my PSP!

You Tube has episode 10 subbed in three parts right now! Best episode yet! In a close up you can see the word "Luce" on Trish's gun. In the games she rocks the guns Luce and Ombra, they also have the Tony Redgrave inscription. Slight spoiler on episode 10, not a spoiler synopsis since it's too early seriously go see the ep if you can!

Main story is about 2 twins that trained under Sparda 2,000 years ago. They showed Sparda in a flash back scene and his statue is in a park too. DEVIL TRIGGER IN THIS EPISODE BABY! :lovin:

Oh yeah, this is about 5 days old now but here's the latest trailer for DMC4, dated 8/22/07. Something to watch if you really want to see Dante get his ass kicked.

Finally got caught up to mission 10, loved the episode, except that fucking hobgoblin needs to go die somewhere, ugh >_<. Can't wait for mission 11

BTW, is the DMC3 manga any good? Does it contradict any of the games that you all know of? Looking into picking up Vol.1(Code:Dante I think).

Sano

Yeah I saw 11 with French subtitles lol don't know the story but it was really good and ends on a cliffhanger that will end in the final ep. Hope someone subs it in English soon.

There are a few contradictions in the manga like Dante going into DT and being able to fly in that form when DT Dante can't fly in DMC3 and this is a prequel to that. Also, DMC3 SE retconned the way Vergil and Arkham met in the manga. But the, how to put this, 'flavor' of their meeting is kind of the same even if in the manga it seems to be much earlier than their DMC3 meeting so it's more of a soft reboot than a retcon if anything.

But it is still worth reading. Dante is hilarious! One of my favorite lines in the book is where Dante tells Enzo not to drink all of his beer or he'll shoot him in the stomach and stick a spigot in the hole to drink the beer out of him! There's also one part where the jukebox plays a song from DMC3 "The Flinch in your eye calls your bluff" I think and Dante says that song sucks. Dude is a riot!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I still don't know what is up with Tokyopop releasing the third book, maybe they are waiting for DMC4 to come out or something...

Episode 12 is subbed on Veoh in French already, dag French is the fastest lol hopefully the English sub is on it's way. Last episode is like end of the world crazy, really cool. Gonna miss this show dag man 12 episodes is too short. They need to bring out an OVA series or something.

Oh yeah the Xenosaga anime comes out tomorrow in the US for bums like me who don't want to play through the first game just to find out more about KOS-MOS, Shion and Momo who I met through Namco x Capcom ha ha!

Youtube has the last episode in 3 parts, joint was crazy dang Dante is BROKEN lol! I'll do a synopsis of the last 3 eps when some more time passes. Enjoyed the show, it was a lot of fun. I didn't see everything I wanted to see but I get the feeling they don't want to spoil DMC4 or future games and stuff... darn it where's DMC4 alreadly lol!

Big spoilers of the last ep:

I loved how his Devil Trigger was shown as just a close up of his eye, it was so subtle but it was there I dunno I thought it was a great effect and a crazy choice heh! Lady's 'strip' was hella cool along with Trish's missle riding! Damn Dante can take mad punishment like the games lol! Hmm, I wonder if the ending leads directly to 4 guess we'll have to wait and see ha ha!

ADV better not mess up the dub or I'm gonna be pissed! :annoy:

Ha ha noticed Akira Kano was the animation director on the first episode Xenosaga anime, he worked on SF2V with the same role along with character designs heh heh! Shows okay, nothing special but I'll hang in there for the next 2 DVDs. I was suprised how much of it I understood just by playing Namco x Capcom and reading it's translation, but that game used a lot of Xenosaga. It always kills me in anime and manga based on anime when they kill villains with ONE BLOW hell KOS-MOS was touching Gnosis monsters to blast them away mang you can't do that in any game unless you are on level bajillion! :looney: On the plus side it killed me that KOS-MOS and Shion had the same voices they did in Namco x Capcom in the Japanese version oh snap I was having flashbacks.

DMC Anime soundtrack still hasn't come... I checked stores by me and they don't have it so I went the Play-Asia route, still waiting waaa...

Episode 12 stunk!!!!
Sucked so bad! (IMO)

No real Devil Trigger! I was waiting for that the whole episode! Freaking Normal Dante is wayy too stupid strong in the anime. It was retarded. It was sooo Deus ex machina when the little girl went to Makai and "saved" Dante.
Even worse was the huge anti-climactic last fight.

ugh.

Oh yeah Lady and Trish are in DMC4, check the last few pages of the DMC4 thread for the extended trailer. Chances are the anime leads directly to the anime, with it finishing off with Dante, Trish and Lady all headed for the same job. Course we won't know for certain 'til DMC4 is out, AKA best game of 2008.

The series as a whole was hot. They told some stories, introduced new characters, brought back old ones, and raised new questions. And you get a DMC4 story jumpoff point just for tuning in. I'm in the same boat as Sano, hoping they don't screw the dub up. Hopefully they may come back to this and see Anime as a storytelling tool for Dante's adventures. And it could be worse, this could have been a sucky ass anime. Which then Capcom would go on clean up patrol and stick this in the same closet as Devil May Cry 2 and Street Fighter 2010.
