Bumped again.... 9/14/08

-------------------------------------------------
EDIT: 03 / 20 / 08

With SFHD getting closer to releaase I thought I would BUMP this...

I creadted it about a year ago. The results prompted me to by a 360.

-----------------------
If you haven't heard Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD remix will be released on XBLA and the Ps3 arcade.

This brings me to a question?

I don't own the 360 or PS3.

I will definitely be getting one when this comes out.
(I still play AE on XBox Live..)

But, this may divide the community. Half might play on XBLA and the other half might play on PS3 NP.

I personally want to play the version that most of the fighting game community is going to play on. I believe many of you would want to know this as well...:wgrin:

This is an attempt to see where the SRK players are going to play.

See Gozulin's thread for pics and info on Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD remix: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=129752

360

does not require servers to be set up like with ps3
means online service will run for as long as xbox live exists
no fear of online component being shut down due to lack of people, like mgs3s and RE outbreak on ps2 were.

ps3 online infrastructure is shit for 1 on 1 games, it's only better then the 360 for games that can be played with lots of players, like resistance.

its a download game, they're hardly going to say no to retro stuff

okay some more evidence.

virtua tennis 3 is on both the 360 an ps3. Only the 360 version is online, this is a 1on1 game.

2d fighters like cvs2, jam, AE all came to ps2 but were only online on the xbox

the ps3 online infrastructure is no different from the ps2

vf5 is coming to the 360 in the west only to add an online mode, that's the rumour.

a lot of people here clearly don't know shit about how the online works for both machines it would seem

This might as well be a "What console do you own, PS3 or XBOX360?" poll and thread. For me, I own the 360, so I will play over 360. 360 is definitley owned and used online by more people. If you want superior control, try finding the Team Xtender XFPS mouse adapter for the 360. It sucks for using a mouse on your FPS games, but as an incidental side effect of supporting a PS2 mouse/keyboard, it will allow the use of a PS2 controller on your 360, which means use of any DualShock compatible joystick or controller.

SweetJohnnyV

I already own a 360, and the online stuff on there is great(voice chatting, friends list, etc), so I definitely plan on playing it on the 360.

I do plan on getting a PS3 some day though. So, who knows, I might play on both.

final_cut: According to this thread (http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=129337) it should work with PSOne Dual Shock pads.

EWAShock has one and arcade sticks built out of standard PSX controllers work on it. But he has a 2 player arcade stick made for PSX called the Blaze that it doesn't recognize.

I'll probably be playing it on PS3. But I might get a 360 and use it for ST online if lag, voice chat and other funtions are better on Live than on the PS Network.

For now, neither, I don't own either system. And if I did I don't have the online connectivity to get the downloadable game, cause that's extra service fees on top off cable modem connection on top of the expensive system. If I ever have a 1,000 to throw around then yeah I'd probably get an XBOX 360 and have to figure out how to connect to the internet.

I use arcade sticks for fighters so the controller thing is a non issue with me. When this game is about to drop I'll see what Hori and / or Mas have available for the PS3.

PS3. I own both, but the 360 pad fails horribly, and PSN = free, which is good considering I don't really play much of anything online very often.

JAMMAR
04-17-2007, 10:42 PM
To me, it first depends on which one does online better. I don't they will be the exact same. If they are, then it comes down to controllers available. I want to wait to see what HORI will come up with this summer for the 360 so I can compare it to HRAP3/VSHG.

For now, I voted PS3 because I don't think HORI will give us a good 360 stick when that summer comes.

i have a question guys, since hdtv lags, how are they going to implement lagfree game play on a hdtv or do can we play it on regular tube tvs?

spudlyff8fan
04-18-2007, 11:08 AM
Man. People. It only lags on HDTV if you have the non-HD consoles. If you played it on the PS2, it'd lag. On the Gamecube, it'd lag. The 360 and PS3 have those HD cables. They're meant to work on HDTV.

Humbag
04-18-2007, 11:19 AM
Its not the cables, its that the 360 and ps3 actually output in HD while the other systems (except xbox1) dont therefor the hdtv tries to upconvert and that takes time so it lags

For online play there's really no competition: XBOX 360 by a landslide.
PS3 has nothing on Xbox Live.

For competitive and tournament play I hope it's xbox 360 but I feel PS3 will have the advantage because of PS tradition and more options for controllers.

In the end, time will only tell the truth.

I've got both systems hooked up - but I'm going with XBox 360 because I'm one of the rare breed who actually seems to like the controller alot, and the online community is way bigger and more competitive. Pretty disappointed with my PS3 at this point. All the games I've played sucked, the graphics don't look any better than 360 (sometimes worse) and at this point it's a glorified Blu Ray player.

Well I don't own either system, so i'm wondering what system to buy also. My problem is while the 360 has the better online community the playstation III well have more games I would want to play over the long run. Games like (Metalgear5, Final Fanasty13, and Res.Evil) that won't goto 360. I love my fighting games, but I playing all types of games. I own a wii now, but I will buy one of the systems in question.

I also need to find out which one would be the one people call the tournament worthy version since I run FinalRound. That's another reason I would choose one or the other, so I can use it for FRXI. Tekken 6 will prolly not make it on 360. If I buy a ps3 I can use it for T6 or SFST HD. That was one of the main reasons I bought a Wii, because smash bro's Brawl will be released and I want it as a tournament game at FRXI.

It's a harder choice for me IMO.

so far out of all the games you mentioned Metal Gear is the only exclusive... and Hideo Kojima stated that there will be a Metal Gear project in the works for the 360... its kinda getting to the point where the only exclusives you'll find will be first party titles like Halo and God of War

I'm getting a custom arcade stick built for this game that uses a Xbox 360 PCB to be used with any other XBLA game.

Sanwa Stick and Buttons, Plexiglas finish, custom art and paint, shit is going to be totally awesome once it's finished.

I won't be restricted to that failure of the Xbox D-pad with my Custom 360 Stick, I'll have total control with a higher degree of accuracy.

PSTriple for rizzle my gizzle.

I would buy the PS3 version just because I do not want to pay 15 bucks on top of additional online fees from my ISP.

I currently can't find it ATM for some reason but in the SF4 forum there was a poll that asked what system would people be playing SF4 on. There PS3 was beating 360.

In all honesty you should probably base your next gen purchase on other things, possibly even other games that are console exclusive. I think you will find SRKers to play against on both consoles, no worries.

The common ground 360-Ps3 controllers have existed for a while, they work on both Systems and share One USB cord. Look it up, Bomberman just made one and Akuma001 makes them with VSHG's. I'm pretty sure Akuma001 still does mods so if you can find common ground pads then he'll do it for you. By the way I thought you used an Xbox Pad.

You're not going to see a PS->360 converter. Microsoft essentially locked down their controllers with encryption, and requires a licensing fee to make 3rd-party hardware for the system.

I have a couple of them. They typically require you to plug in a 360 controller and a PS controller at the same time, and the PS inputs piggyback on the signal.Or something like that. I never use it though.

360 I'm just waiting for James123 to finish my 360 pcb to put in my VSHG. But I'm doing a dual pcb setup for tournaments if there's no console standard.

360, cuz i don't know a PS3, and don't have any reason to pick one up at this time. Too many of the games I'm interested in are either coming to 360 as well, or are 360 exclusive.

I think I'd rather play it on PS3, but there's a good chance I'll get it on both anyway.

After seeing SC4's online performance on PSN be as good as it is over on XBL, I'm a little miffed about having to pay $50 a year. (I'm cheap, I guess haha).

I'll play wherever the comp is, though.

i dont play SC but arent people saying that the ps3 version of sc4 has in game lag compared to the 360 version?

i personally will be playing on the 360. all the great players are there, many of the people i know from the srk community are all there.

Neo DX90
09-16-2008, 09:06 AM
there are some slight slowdown issues on some stages, yes, but not so much that it really hampers things (PS3 is still the tourney standard). Also, like I said, online play between the two versions is pretty much the same.

if all the great players will be on the 360 I'll likely follow. I have to renew my XBL gold membership next month anyway.

I am honestly in the middle. But if the game comes out when I still haven't decided, then 360 it is, simply so I can play as many people as possible. I think ps3 is a better console and such, but the 360 having a stronger hold on the market does grab me.

:cries over admitting I am buying a console solely for HD Remix:
