http://arcaderenaissance.blogspot.com/2007/04/guilty-gear-accent-core-wii-confirmed.html
When Gamefly updated their listings and included a page for Guilty Gear Accent Core for the Nintendo Wii, a lot of people have waited patiently for an independent verification that the game was currently planned for Nintendo's new console.
Arc System Works, developers of the series, only responded to requests for a confirmation with the claim that they did not know where Gamefly received their information. Though that was a long way from the answer that fans wanted, it did fuel the speculation engine long enough that media outlets have been reporting on this rumor for months now.
But after all the rumors, it seems that we can finally confirm it with authority. Famitsu has a listing for Guilty Gear Accent Core for the Wii in its coming soon section in its latest magazine. The game is scheduled for release on July 26th in Japan (with no word on an American release, despite Gamefly's listing of July 30th in America).
The Playstation 2 version of the game is set to ship on May 31st in Japan.
I'm personally not sure what to think about this yet. So long as there is classic controller support, I'm sold, but dang it someone needs to make an arcade stick for the Wii sometime soon. Especially with NEO GEO games coming to the Virtual Console.
More 2D fighting games receiving a release is definitely a good thing, but a soft mod solution for the Wii needs to be released soon. ;)

... But we can still get it for the PS2? Ok.
Business as usual for me then.

Good lord..if it were true, all the wii-scrubs around the campus here would start thinking they stand a chance against me..rofl If Wii comes out with a stick this might be a pretty decent move on their part but if they somehow try to utilize the wii-mote..*barf!*

The magazine mentions classic controller support as well as special Wii-Mote + Nunchuck controls.
I shudder to think about what sort of motion sensing feats I'll have to pull off to do a roman cancel with the wii mote :(

STILL not believing it, all they're saying is that Famitsu says it's coming out, for a date that's near what the gamefly rumor was.
Official site still doesn't say anything about it.

Don't believe it until I see it. I don't need to see people doing volcanic viper with the Wiimote.

Well maybe you could just use a GC arcade stick? Or you could use a PS2 to GC converter or sumtin...

Does the blog even state which issue of famitsu says it? I mean it's pretty easy to make up bullshit and call it news. I did it with the announcement of Blue Dragon for PS3.

I'm sure that got a lot of people needlessly excited. ;)
It's the latest issue of Famitsu. The issue also has a small feature on a new Gundam game for the Wii as well as a list of the new PSN titles to download for the PS3/PSP (which actually includes the Last Blade).

You all do know that even if this is true, this announcement has no bearing on any localization for the game. Also you can only play JP Wii games on a JP Wii, even if with the current modchip (which allows you to play burns) you are still restricted to your Wii's region. Yes that includes burns as well.

That's not necessarily true.
You are correct about the Wii being region coded, but there are several Wii modchips on the market that allows you to play import games. The only "restriction" there is happens to be the fact that some games have firmware updates that are dedicated to that specific region. If you try running the firmware update, it is possible your system may be bricked. However, so long as you keep your Wii up to date with the firmware updates from 24Connect you won't run into this problem because the firmware will never be updated by the disc since it will always be the latest update.

No way, I never thought the Japanese people would only be able to play JAP region. Just like JAP PS2 which could play all regions, HAHA damn I'm surprised - had a discussion with my friend regarding the JAP version of consoles always are region-free.

None of my PS2s have been region-free. None of my Dreamcasts have ever been region-free(except for the one I modded myself back in 2k1). None of my PS1s were region-free except for the one US one I had modded pre-software region checking. I want to know where you found these JPN PS2s that were region free, because maybe I missed that shipment.

If anything, GGXX players should consider this a godsend, since it'll raise GGXX awareness in Japan (not that it needs it) and the US (which really does need it). The US could stand to gain a few more GGXX players by having the game come over to the Wii, given that the GGXX scene here is practically non-existent.

I'm getting beasted on this very moment.
I did some searching, and all this hear-say was freakin' bull. I didn't know that the Japanese PS2 was region-locked games, it was quite a surprise.
Thanks for telling me though.

Mario in Guilty Gear would be hot. But they should change it and make Guilty Gear more like Smash brothers. You know, with platforms and stuff.
Also, simplify the controls so everyone can use it. And then put it on a hand held.
That would be the PERFECT game.

Meh, I'm not a GG player so I'm not overly concerned, but I am a Wii owner so I'm intrigued. If motion sensing is used I guess it will be for some tacked on mini-games or whatever, I highly doubt it will be part of the core gameplay.

online play would be nice, but not happening, definitely laggy as hell if it were. theyre sitting on a goldmine with wifi and nobody is taking advantage of it. the virtual console would be so wizard (yeah, I said it) if the games were wifi compatible

As it is now, I hate GG, but if it comes out on Wii I'll get it for online play and some way to use my stick lag free on it.
If Sammy and SNK are the only big players in the 2d market, as time goes on my old ass will have to make the change along with it. It's great that the Wii has a 2d fighter anyway if this is true... Gamecube and N64 had no/shitty support.

If someone makes a good GC stick or a wireless Wii one (with sanwa parts,:wgrin: ), then AC might not be that bad to have at EVO on a Wii!

Do you guy think that there might some differences in game play (other than motion sensing controls) from the Wii to the PS2? I really want to know because I'm still considering get this game for ps2, I just don't want to get fuck over because the Wii version doesn't lag as much (not saying GGXX lags) or some stupid bullshit like that

Guys, there's something you seem to be forgetting--the fact that the Wii has a Classic Controller, which is based on the standard SNES pad that we've been used to for the past 20 odd years or so. There's no reason for ArcSys to randomly ignore that controller in lieu of the wiimote. And besides, doing FRCs with the wiimote would be hell.

Arc Sys supposedly talked to Jeux-France the other day about the game. I'm trying to dig up a link to the article, but supposedly the Wii Remote and Nunchuck and the Classic Controller will both be used in different forms. The Wii Remote and Nunchuck supposedly is also going to offer at least one motion based control scheme.
The classic controller will offer the exact same classic gameplay featured in the previous titles. The Gamecube controller will also be compatible for those players who have Gamecube arcade sticks (all two of you).

It's been confirmed that when holding a button and doing a motion, you can block (faultless defense I guess) or do overdrives. Motion controls are the main deal with the game anyway. I wanna see If someone can make another Wii stick like this one!
