The rolls in this game seem to leave a lot of guesswork. I can't count the number of times someone has rolled underneath my character, I think my hit is going to miss, but they roll _back_ to where my attack manages to hit them. Online play seems very, very different.
Why doesn't anyone play with a microphone? I played one person so far that I know heard what I was saying. Do you have custom sticks that you can't hook up mics to?
In this game, are the SNK characters able to interrupt supers, but the Capcom characters not able to?
I can't believe how effective I am with Honda, especially compared to other characters I get much much further with offline. I don't even know how to do a roll. I pick Honda, and I got two moves with him, maybe three if I feel lucky.
When is that female SNK character with the sword and long reach vulnerable? I can't make any sense of her attacks or where to get in.

question is..where the hell are you playing from..japan or boston ? I think I get the worse connection with you. I dont think I had it that bad before..its a whole NEW level of input delay
this lag and roll discussion is like years old. you really cant do much by posting about it here. however you can try to counter rolls. just keep a distance and you are good..enough distance so your opponent doesn't get on the other side. thats how I deal with rolly polly scrubs. I might upload "strained killer" videos on his thread..you will see most of his rolls being punished easy.

Lag sucks, yeah Japan is quite far from the US and dropped frames/input makes for a pretty silly experience but no one really plays this game much around here any more so I thought I'd try online. Other than that I am trying to learn DOAU which handles the lag better but still not perfect. More players though.

I forgot to ask yesterday, but please do show those videos. I'll play if people are looking for some games, but honestly I don't think I can offer much of a meaningful challenge/play experience... against my Honda's two, maybe three moves, now players have a viciously effective counter strategy to it- jump kick, low kick. ponder broke it down how this basic maneuver doesn't translate so well online. The roll game seems to just exacerbate this to a second dimension. I think I get so far with Honda because, in order to just keep a distance as you mention, I use his headbutt (one of my two moves), usually fierce. I figured, if I missed or the input got dropped, just keep jamming on fierce and maybe his chop would hit somethin, or a throw would come out. But almost any throw I've actually landed online was by accident- any I try for I usually wind up getting thrown, even though I see them walking from like halfway across the screen.
Also I am remembering one of the primary reasons I don't know jack about CVS2, heh- the hitboxes always seemed wrong or way off to me, regardless of any lag. For example, dhalsim's low fierce doesn't hit guile cleanly under his sonic boom. Who authorized that? There are many other weird things like this, esp to an OG to the OGs.
I think I noticed one player usually pick EO instead of manual or AO whatever. I'd have thought such a feature as EO would potentially ruin the game to a certain degree, is there a consensus on this?
btw I play on a DOA3 stick, that's the best I can find out here, so I'm missing two buttons.

Hey I just played that guy today- but he stopped after only a few games. btw I hope the vids you make like those are in good fun, as I'm just happy to find other people to play online when I can sign in.
With my Honda, when I headbutt across the screen, it sometimes goes through a roll, maybe they are roll cancelling but I'm not sure... like, they'll land, and go into a roll, and my flying headbutt will go through them, and we repeat it from the other side kinda until a blocked headbutt if he can get in.
btw I keep forgetting to add you as a friend in my list but I think I tried it last week, and it didn't find you- can you add me on yours and I'll accept? (XSPR is shorter to type :) )

Have you checked the weekly rankings to get some Japanese gamertags? I always notice quite a few on there, but cant recall the last time I saw any of them hosting a public game.

good idea! Actually I tried that with this, and DOAU but there are so few players left in Japan that play either game (or, much original XBox in general).
