Like the rest of the mens' magazine industry, Maxim has been steadily declining for the past few years. If this continues, they'll be out of business in a few years.

So, what do you do if you're Maxim and desperately need to generate some interest and sales?

Start a controversy.

You could either have Jessica Alba claim the top stop, which would surprise no one, and be just another boring list, or you could give it to a recovering, dirty skank junkie who hasn't been considered top-tier hot in years, surprising and riling up many.

So far, judging by the responses in this thread, their ploy has worked exactly as planned.

I already stopped buying Maxim several years ago, and this list now only makes me want to *not* buy purely out of spite at this point. In fact...I kinda wish I was still a fan up until now, so my sudden cancelling of a subscription would happen and mean something.

My other problem with them was something that's unfortunately prevalent across the industry....the abuse of the goddamn airbrush/clone stamp(/"healing brush"?) tools. These fruitbaskets take a picture of someone like Hilary Burton or whatever, and ruin that shit with Airbrush over and over and over again....they don't stop brushing away texture until the girls look like cartoons, or 3d game characters from a few years ago. The shit KILLS the picture, and kills off any kind of jerkable qualities it could've had. Someone should break the hands of all these touch-up "artists". This issue really, really irks me...

Completely agree with you on this one. A certain amount of air-brushing is necessary, but abusing that tool leads to girls looking like aliens more than attractive human beings, and extinguishes anything sexy about the photo.

Don't get me wrong, I'd do every girl on this list. But the subset of girls I would do and the subset of girls I think are the 100 hottest famous chicks alive are very, very different. The first includes the second, but it also includes dozens of millions of others. Plenty of the girls in here are definitely more among those regular millions than the top 100.
