The author of a homemade game based on the Virginia Tech shootings is offering to pull it off the Internet only if he receives donations on his Web site.
21-year-old Ryan Lambourn of Sydney, Australia, posted a game called "V-Tech Rampage" on newgrounds.com. That's a Philadelphia-based portal that allows amateurs to upload games they have created, play them and discuss them in forums.
In Lambourn's game, the player manipulates a character carrying a handgun around a campus and makes clear references to the Virginia Tech killings and gunman Seung-Hui Cho, the student who shot to death 32 people and himself on April 16th.
The game has generated a furious debate online, with many posters in numerous forums and newsgroups demanding that it be removed. Others have supported the game.
Local media report that Lambourn has received no donations.
Phone and e-mail messages left for Lambourn by The Associated Press have not been answered.

Last I checked, Newgrounds was an American company, and in America we have Free fucking speech.
Also, last I checked, Australia was a free country as well.........
There are no laws regulating bad taste, but there are laws regulating the restriction of free speech.
He has a right to make the game, he has a right to keep the game up, and you have the right to bitch about it, but what nobody has the right to do, is remove it (well, Newgrounds does, because he's using their site, but if they remove it, nothing stops him from hosting it elsewhere)
I say, if you don't fucking like it, don't fucking play it.

bad taste, but free speech
somehow i think if there were vtech peeps who met this guy irl, they'd exercise free "speech" by beating him up. but he lives in australia so he'll be fine

Like I said, he has a right to make the game, and even to keep it up.
And anybody who disagrees with the game has a right to call him a low-class, immoral douchebag with no fucking soul.
he reaps what he sows.
but he's got every right to sow it.
and I ain't callin' anybody on it specifically (or the thread starter for posting it), I'm just saying "If you disagree, cool, but be informed that he's got a right to be a heartless prick."

welcome to the new medium of expression, internet games based on current events.....funny enough if it was made in a earlier version of flash it could hit the console market and be even bigger.

you can find this on newgrounds just search Virginia tech. It's called VT rampage.
It's a shitty Flash game. It looks like shit and plays like it too. It wasn't fun or even good I don't see why anyone is making a big deal out of it.
Is it in poor taste? Absolutely it is. But the dude has a right to make it. People need to lay off. If they never made an uproar about it then no one would play it and it would die. but now since they have this thing is gonna blow up huge.

Aussies are jerks.
Yeah....thanks a fucking lot.
Australia's not a free country. We're covered by UN policies, but we still have censorship laws, gun restrictions, bans on stores selling pornography in pretty much every state (though people do it anyway). We don't have a bill of rights.
However, we DO have legalised brothels.
And hold up, this hasn't been blammed on NG already?

Yeah, freedom of speech and all, but this is just sick, and I wouldn't mind if someone took it down. And the fucktard wants donations? Someone should tell him they've got a large check waiting for him, and when he goes to collect it, he'll find the support group of families affected by the shootings. When people are kicking him in the nutsack, they can just say "Well, maybe you just don't appreciate our sense of humor."
