i jsut watched the whole episode about the two detectives and shin chan mistaking them as homosexuals, and it goes on from there. The dialogue goes by quick, btw. You can probably catch it on youtube maybe.

not just that episode but shin-chan series in general. "the bart simpson" of japan is pretty close in describing Shin.

Things they get away with on real late (12:30) tv is freakin awesome.

anyone else dig this anime comedy?

Yea, its a great show, but you can tell it's heavily changed in the translation. Alot of the jokes are about American pop-culture icons that the japanese would know nothing about. I guess they're dubbing over jokes about japanese pop-culture icons.

That show is pretty funny. My friend turned me onto the first 6-7 episodes they had.

Action Bastard FTW!!!

They are. Most of the jokes that they've dubbed over are jokes the average american wouldn't have understood because they were direct comments on things occurring in Japanese culture at the time.

Even with the replacements, the shows still funny. They've done a good job so far with most of the jokes. I'm impressed to the degree some of the jokes they were willing to say. (As long as I bring back a hair from my lovers pubes? wtf? Is this really Funimation?)

I watched this show with my gf in Japanese with her explaining some of the best jokes...

He usually says sexual shit by mistake or like, really insulting stuff when angry.

In the American version does he do the "elephant dance?"

If I'm not mistake the guy that is voicing the father sounds like the same guy that voices Hiei in the Yu-Yu Hakusho dub.

it made one hell of a good first impression with me....I saw the episode where that other kid was strugglin' to hold it in as he was in one of those infamous Crap Crisis™ situations...something everyone has experienced at least a few times in life. Every time he tried to get to a bathroom, something got in the way or interrupted him, etc. At the table with his friend and that guy's mom, a fart slipped out, and I will never forget this quote: (thinking ...he didn't actually say it of course)"I can't deny it or they'll know I supplied it!" Along with that great anime eye-twitch "oh no!" facial expression killed me for the rest of the show. I still laugh when thinking of that scene and the rest of the episode.
