Hello SRK! What a wonderful morning it is today. I got a new kitty! Everyone say hello to Patrick! He is a half Siamese male kitty!

This has been a good morning for patrick. He just got up and is currently creating trouble in the living room. Of course Patrick lives on style, check out his pimped out scratch palace!

Things aren't always easy for Patrick though, as some of you may know. I rescued Lioness ( pronounced Linus ) about a year ago from an animal shelter. She was a year old when I got Lioness so I never got to see her as a kitten.

Lioness was rescued and it was difficult at first. She meowed ALL the time and it took a good two months before she settled in. She became the nicest cat in the world eventually. She never claws or jumps on the couch ( She doesn't jump in 1 couch, the one she's not allowed in. ) and she is nice to strangers and very vocal. We get compliments on her all the time, plus she got that bad ass tatoo in her ear from the pound. Lioness is a female Turkish Van.

I've never heard her hiss, until today...

I don't know anything about cats. So I my girlfriend and I could just hold them and let them meet each other... then I heard Lioness hiss for the first time since we got her, and I said " Hmmm maybe I should read about this on the internet first.

I read all about introducing cats to each other. Lioness pawed, hissed and smelled the cage for 30 minutes before losing interest. She randomly hissed at the cage but eventually ignore it. Times are a tough around here and we are doing everything in our power to make it work out. With time, I'm sure it will.

Understand that I've NEVER had a pet so this is all new and exciting for me. If you destroy my bandwidth I'll pm you the pics! This has been Genesis reporting from my lovely living room.

Note: We didn't buy Patrick, he was free and given a good home right here. If you want a cat, please rescue or adopt one. Paying for an cute animal like a cat is wrong in so many levels. We can't give them all homes but think about it and browse around please. Animals can't choose where they come from but that doesn't affect all the joy it will bring into your life.

Because Patrick is so young, Lioness will eventually get over it and take a paternal role. The only problem is that Patrick will harass her non stop for quite a while as he'll need an outlet to play with. I've had two set of friends go through this exact situation (female in home first, male kitten introduced about a year later) and it eventually works out.

it's very normal for Lioness to react like that. I had to integrate a new kitten with my 13 year old cat. And my older one was NOT happy. He has never liked other cats even though he loves humans.

It took about 6 weeks to fully integrate them. We had to keep the kitten (Wesker) in the bedroom for the first 3 weeks. Then we slowly started to integrate them a little at a time. Eventually my older cat (Nicholas) settled down and they are fine.

But give Lioness time. eventually she will get used to sharing her space with another cat.

Anyways, Lioness behaves very well. I'm hoping she trains the kitty to behave like her. So far the kitty is super chill. Last night it while I was sleeping I notice he was going nuts attacking my bum, and feet during the night.
