The other day, I gathered conclusive evidence that conclusively demonstrates either one of two things:

1) that lag renders this and just about any fighter played online meaningless, or,

2) that I can win against the best, highest ranked player using only 2 moves and no forward or roundhouse buttons.

Which one do you think it is?

I played a set of games against joeresioREX. When I explained my 2-move, no fwd/rnd kick buttons Honda is my best character online, but offline I have much better characters, he said he was the best. He was not kidding, I checked afterwards and he is listed at the top of the ranking charts. The ranking system itself will have it's own imperfections, but he has more points than anyone, and wins about 5 times out of every 6 games he plays. Clearly, suffice it to say with all the games he's played and that kind of ratio, this is not someone who should fall to two moves.

But he did. I won just about every game (I think he won one game, but it was close). After a while he switched to Blanka, who I've heard is one of the best characters in the game. He could parry some of my moves, at least the first hit of a combo. None of this seemed to make much of a difference.

It was pointless after a while, so he stopped and I had to agree, it's all pretty silly but what am I supposed to take away from that? Post the replay on youtube and say that's skill, I'm so great? It's two moves basically. All that does is show how lag affects the game, at the most basic levels of play. I really don't think you can read too much more into who wins fighters online.

Please people, stop the hate. Hate the lag, hate the game even, but don't hate the players.

Beating me is one thing, but with the lag is a whole other story. My rank went from something like P to J the next few games after we played. I don't think that was by accident.

Wait I didn't mean, I uh, yeah I know that beats it, I am saying, well, I don't like his two moves, but I really hate how I actually kept getting hit by it because, I should be able to take the easy way out, but gee somehow I think I did the right move but it was the wrong one after all.

For what it's worth, Blanka doesn't really bother me much, and I haven't seen someone abuse his strengths yet. (also, low strong beats the electric ball too.) I am much more affraid of other characters that can do things like sneak out two projectiles at once, or shoot projectiles that can't be flash-kick-moved through like king's fb for example. (that's why I don't use it much, just the two moves.) The headbutt is good as doujinshi mentions and that alone can get me through a lot of characters, otherwise. Vega has a claw but that's not the reason that strategy works- as explained the headbutt can beat it, but over lag, it is very hard to do for the reason that vega's jump is so fast. honda has enough trouble with his much much slower jump (e.g. getting over projectiles *offline*).

Summary for those who visit forums but don't like to actually read:

XSPR is not actually much different from all these other players. Everyone here thinks they're so good and doesn't think so highly of any other chump around here.

Well, no, but the accent is kinda the same sometimes, at least, regarding the "er" ending in words being pronounced as "ah" (and while Japan usually mixes up L's with R's, Bostonians just drop R's altogether sometimes). Massachusetts is a state but mostly of mind in recent years. I used to be good in A3 there, then got even better in Japan. I'll come back, someday.

yeah he beats a-sak but when she has meter he has to play a lot more safe and turtle more of course but otherwise he completely outproritizes her shyt. she really cant get in because she gets zoned out by blankas cr.fierce, cr.forward, rc elect and the pimpsmack (j.fierce). id say thats in blankas favor 6-4
