So yeah I've got tons of shit - sittin at about 50 movies, getting ready to order some of the more popular classics like "Fist of White Lotus" and "Five Deadly Venoms". I'm trying to get a list, hoping for some recommendations.
"Flying Guillotine"/"One-Armed Boxer vs Flying Guillotine"
"5 Deadly Venoms"
"Return of the 5 Deadly Venoms"
"Fist of the White Lotus"
Looking for some other movies to look up. And please no Bruce Lee. Looking for some classic Donny Yen stuff as well. It looks like he's finally getting some love as the main character in movies, but he's looking old now.

Does it have to be kung-fu? Cause i'd recommend Ninja III: The domination.

the blade is a pretty good movie, came out in '96. also if you're interested in OG kung fu joints, check out anything with gordon liu in it.
enter the 36 chambers of shaolin and curse of the white lotus clan are 2 good ones that immediately come to mind.

if you truly want a good kung fu movie, stop posting classics and post something real. And for you novices, I'd recommend Blade of Fury; None of the aforementioned other than the blade (good movie)are meh but hell, the thread says Kung Fu, I GIVE you Kung Fu. Watch it and learn

Dirty Ho, the drinking while being polite to each other fight is very deep.
8 Diagram Pole Fighter, best final fight ever.
Master Killer and Return of the Master Killer, no need to describe, one is serious, one is a comedy.
Mr. Vampire, a good mix of horror, comedy, romance and the Fu.
Boxer's Omen, most insane mover ever. hands down.

You know a place to buy Master Killer? I read on Amazon.com that the license for the best version was the property of a Chinese company. Amazon didn't have permission to sell it, unfortunately.
Shaolin & Wu Tang, don't miss out on this either.

I want to second the four bolded movies; they're all brilliant classics I would also strongly recommend. The scene in Mr. Vampire where they think the lady is a whore is one of the funniest things I've seen in any film ever made.
For about two years, I only watched kung fu movies, at an average of a dozen per week. Here are some favorites;
Old-school
Magnificent Butcher
The Seven Grandmasters
The Mystery of Chess-Boxing
Death Duel
Duel to the Death
Snuff-Bottle Connection
Thundering Mantis
Born Invincible
The Victim
He only Knows Kung-Fu
From China with Death
Kung-Fu Zombie
Secret Rivals
Secret Rivals 2
Newer school-
Shaolin Temple
Millionaire's Express
Snuff-Bottle Connection
Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars
Project A
Fist of Legend
Legend of the Wolf (Greatest kung-fu movie ever, in my opinion)

hmm I don't rmember anything from Magnificent butcher...I have it, but don't remember it.
Somneone told me to look up the Master Killer joint.
I've got a list of joints I'd personally recommend, though I don't remember all the names off the top, have to wait till I get home for an accurate list. Only ones I sorta remember the names of:
The 5 Superstars
Eagle Claw vs Tiger Claw *I fucking LOVE both of those styles as well as Mantis Fist*

Just saw that you mentioned wanting old-school Donnie Yen films in your initial post. (Incidentally, my favorite kung fu actor ever)
In that case, "Legend of the Wolf" is one of the greatest KF films ever, "Dragon Inn" is easily top 20, with the craziest last fight scene EVER, "Iron Monkey" I'm sure you know about, and "Butterfly Sword" is an underrated, overlooked title.

Yeah, if his name is in the credits - I'll scope it, definatly underrated. I saw Hero just cause he was in it - no one else.
Where do folks GET there stuff from? I'm about to order some stuff thru amazon, but places like the 'new' kiosk in the malls that sell Kung Fu Flix - are charging like 30 bux per disc, and for thigns that came out in 1970-85 - thats kinda high.

I get most of these films from Netflix, which has a surprisingly large collection of kung-fu films. My local library also has some of these in the foreign language DVD section.
And yeah, there shouldn't ever be a reason to pay that much for this stuff.

One of my favorite modern martial art scene from the movie Killzone (aka Sha Po Lang)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YiUxpRLunc
What's unique about this scene is the use of short weapon in conjunction with full body angle and very few cuts. The three pretty much multiply each other in terms of difficulty. The music and the atmosphere just makes it very badass.

man you guys, get your shit there? yikes. Everyone, go to the masters @ work. www.drunkenmaster.tv they are supposed to be opening up a new shop online however, whatever movie you're looking for, just email them and they'll help you out. By far the only place I get my HK movies when I'm in L.A. or any of the conventions I visit in L.A. (sci fi comic book con, AX or SDCC in SD, CA) Here at home, I just go to my friends vid store as he usually has it. I'm curious though, have any of you guys seen shadowless sword (korean) or my kung fu sweetheart? thought I'd inform you guys as these movies are also good

Their selection looks really good, certainly better than what Netflix has to offer. However, you have to understand; I'm a cheap bastard, and paying $20 for a film goes against everything I believe in.
The beauty of Netflix is that for $18 a month, and fast shipping rates, I can watch 40+ films. That's less than fifty cents a film.

I actually loved the ending. When I heard they had a different cut for the version playing in mainland China. ***SPOILER*** They edit out the fall and the car crash, so Donnie actually won and Sammo died for real. That would've been a generic so-so ending for me.

That's just the kind of ending I like. But seriously, do they teach to use batons like that at Chinese police school or something? I wanna learn how to do that stuff.

I still think boxer's omen is the serious madness, barely a kung-fu film, it brings budhist magic against evil thai magic. Where do you go to learn this stuff?

Also ebay many times has cheap kung-fu up to buy out.
