Don't bother playing any Ibuki on xbl. She just rapes too hard.
It's one of those hard facts of life
Sorry

Just block vs. Ibuki. Parrying her is hella risky unless you know for sure you can punish. Certain moves like her f+MK are safe even on parry (from farther distances). On Xbox Live you'll pretty much be forced to block any ways due to the delay. Only if you happen to get a really nice connection should you focus on parrying.
Even if I were to play against you in an inevitably laggy connection there are only like 2 or 3 other Ibuki players on Live that play her with any real skill. The rest just block their ish and look for openings. Most scrub Ibuki players are just gonna spam random chains at you and will probably never focus on her throw game. Meaning you can just block and throw out pokes when you find space.

Play Korin Zynn if you wanna play a solid Chun. Any others that come to mind also bring memories of lag friendly tactics (excessive jumping, sbk)
There's not much point playing against a good Ibuki on live cos she's too fast for the lag :xeye: All I do is practice blocking overheads on reaction against her.

Dont bother learnin chars online. I made that mistake and it took me a while to get rid of all the bad tactics i picked up. Hehe.

You think so Humbag? I think I learned a lot playing online. I guess it depends on your playstyle. Cause the first time I went to the arcade up in Northbrook I held my own. I am sure since you live in Illinois you play there as well. Thanks for the compliments Naz. I will play ya anytime Phix. Just send a FR.

Ya I play everyso often at Nickels Korin. Thing is is that im so much better on console (ps2) and my own stick. Ive got a bad track record at nickel city tournys haha.

Its funny at midwest championships last year I played a Dudley and i was thinking it might of been you. I really dont remember though. Those sticks are so iffy at Nickels anyways. Everyone is usually better with thier own sticks. I know i am.

Arcade is better than nothing. I went to the arcade again last week (one of the only ones left with a 3S machine) and it reminds me how cool the arcade experience is. I wish I had been more of a part of it back in the hey day. I was too young for that though. Even with only like 5 people playing on the 3S machine it was cool to put your quarter up and the interaction between you and the other players. I still love my custom Sanwa stick. When I'm not out of practice I rarely mess up on it.

Believe me DJ, nothing beats the arcade experience. Im 31 so I was around for it in its "hayday". Arcades were crazy packed. Money was being played for almost every match. You had your quarter up tehre for like 20 mins sometimes. Thats why every match was crucial so you could stay on. There were no cell phones, no srk to set up matches. No nothing. You just knew people were gonna be up there playin every night. Its just not like that anymore unfortunately. As much as people complain about lag and all that. It was xbox live that again fueled that fighting game spirit back in me, and others as well. Ok i am done reminiscing. Im gonna break down and cry. lol

Thats the difference. I guess Im more newschool playing oldschool games. Im still young and not used to arcade play. I just know that at console tournys I do pretty well compared to my track record at nickels haha.

DevilJin, YeahDood and Izuna Otoshi are probably the best Ibuki players I've seen on Live. DJ is right when he says the rest of the Ibuki players are not as good with strats... and timing really throws off most people online to the point where lag compensation is necessary. For an Ibuki player, lag can alter a gameplan a significant amount. She is hard to win with if things don't go according to plan.
Don't expect to learn much playing online against an Ibuki player unless you play the aforementioned three. Play an Ibuki player face-to-face if you are able to.

It was all about playing SF2 through SF Turbo, NBA Jam, MK and MKII, Killer Instinct and many other fighters in the middle of the night at some convenience store with total strangers, putting up your quarter and waiting for your turn to dominate.
It's never going to be like that again... not with online play and the death of arcades in the US. Too bad online gaming is still not very solid in terms of connection... but Live really put me back in the loop as well. It's not perfect, but I still learned a lot playing guys online.
I hope I can find a good arcade in Japan when I go in 2 months. :lovin:

Where i live there are two arcades with sf3 and the players there come consistantly. Its great, i love having a crowd and seeing them watching in amazement when someone does something crazy. I do really good in arcade, but definitely better on console.
