I agreen on all the points you made...what gets me about the saga is it's incredible wasted potential. I mean look, you have no Goku, and no Vegeta, a PERFECT opportunity to let the guys who don't get much screen time (Ten, Yamcha, Chaozu) some time to shine. Does that happen? Of course not. Even Krillin gets BEASTED on the entire time, he can't even take Garlic Jr's weakest henchman. Then out of nowhere at the end he kicks full power Garlic Jr's ASS. I really don't get it either.

Not to mention, the animation is really rotten in the whole saga too.

That's very true... Piccolo & co. just gotten through from fighting Frieza who was the first to break the million point from our perspective, and then Garlic Jr. comes after being put into the Dead Zone by a weaker version of Gohan to fighting him after what he's just been through. Imo, Goku still holds the highest BS power boost in DBZ history when he fought Frieza. Goku's power level went from 180,000 to 2,500,000 in a day, and then 15,000,000. That's wack...

I ACTUALLY watched the Garlic Jr. stuff, since I hadn't seen it before. Wish I hadn't of done that.

That whole thing was bad. TERRIBLE. AWFUL. SICKENING. Every time it would have to continue to another episode, I rolled my eyes. So much stupid shit.

- Piccolo, Kuririn and Gohan getting beasted after having fought against MOTHERFUCKING Frieza.

- Kami getting attacked by the former Kamis, WTF!?! (Although seeing him and Mr. Popo running around was pretty amusing).

- Gohan being such a goddamned pushover and holding back the whole time. I know you're 5 and shit, but grow a fucking spine. Come to think of it, shouldn't be much tougher after having gone through Namek?

- What really got me was that Makyo World shit. Garlic Jr. points it out early in the fight, "Yo, I'm buff as hell now 'cause of that planet." For Christ's sake, Piccolo blew up the Moon in the first season. So why do they wait until Garlic Jr. busts out the Dead Zone to finally shoot at it? If I was any of those guys, I'd have blown up that damn planet as soon as Garlic Jr. mentioned it.

What a waste of DVD space. I want to burn down the houses of whatever fuckers decided to make a bunch of lousy filler spun off from one of the DBZ movies.

EDIT: Just saw something that made me laugh: the box that's labelled "MY STADY" instead of "My Study". Prime example of Engrish, or just lazy animation? You decide.

The Cell Juniors were as strong as Cell when he fought Goku, but not of Cell's complete power since he didn't reveal that until later on against Gohan. Cell Juniors' power = Goku's power >> Vegeta's, Trunks', and Piccolo's power

Kid Buu's much stronger than Vegeta, so it only makes sense that he'll do poorly against him. The only reasons why Goku was able to get in some nice hits was because he's the main character and that Kid Buu was toying with him during the fight. If you rewatch the episode that showed Kid Buu releasing that energy attack that destroyed planet Earth, you'll see that Goku and Vegeta were running for their lives, therefore, Kid Buu could've easily harnessed the same level of power on Goku (which would've resulted in his death). The fact that Kid Buu repelled that huge Spirit Bomb composed of every organism in life is proof that he was surpressing his power.

All of the Saiyans don't possess the same type of power as Goku and Vegeta. You have to remember that Goku and Vegeta weren't always as strong as they were during that fight as their powers in the beginning were very miniscule compared to the Buu Saga, so he probably examined the Saiyans during the earlier times when Goku and Vegeta weren't as strong or maybe further back when King Vegeta was still reigning.

Neither are Vegeta, Trunks, Piccolo and Goku. Even if they weren't as strong as Cell, they could still easily manhandle any of them, especially a battle weary Goku.

I hated that Vegeta was always pushed to a side role.He spent a good chunk of his time always trying to catch up with Goku and for a short while Gohan(Until Gohan became a pussy and became much weaker than he used to be).

Nobody besides Cell himself seemed to even notice that Vegeta gave Gohan enough time to kill Cell,and then after that it was right back to the bench for Vegeta.That would have bee good for the Z Team to mention.

And yeah Piccolo could have got done a lot better.He was basically just a baby sitter/trainer/mentor all in one for the up and coming fighters.Most of the time,was also getting his ass kicked around

Try not to get too hung up on who is more powerful than whom, or which character can beat the other one, which means that he in turn should be able to blah de friggin' blah. It's all pointless.

One of the biggest overarching themes of Dragon Ball is that the good and righteous can transcend their limitations in time of need. This is why battle power ratings were written out of the series almost as quickly as they were introduced--the villains have a very limited grasp of what it is to be a strong warrior. They believe that a fighter's potential power is static, whereas the heroes realize that it is fluid.

Not to mention, pure raw power isn't the only thing that makes for a strong character. They have individual fighting skills that make them strong in some areas and weak in others, which introduces a rock/paper/scissors sort of element to their match-ups. It isn't as simple as "Goku = Cell > Vegeta," or whatever.

Is there any real reason for me to watch this? I read Wiki's synopsis and nothing hard seemed to come from it. I plan on watching the General Blue Saga because apparently Goku nearly gets killed (and the girl i'm showing it to loves random gays/bishos in anime and Blue is gay).

So what I want to know is, would I be right to watch the Blue saga, then skip the Commander Red Saga and Fortuneteller Baba Saga to get to the Tien Shinhan saga, where the Tenkaichi Budokai takes place? And of course I'll finish the show off by watching the following two Piccolo sagas since he becomes such a major player.

Am I missing anything that becomes a factor later on by skipping the Red Ribbon Army, Commander Red and Fortuneteller Baba sagas?

The Red Ribbon army saga is worth a watch just to see some of the action plus I believe the General Tao episode are during that arc too. Fortuneteller Baba arc wasn't too bad. Random fights against Baba's fighters plus Goku fights Gohan.

BTW last week I managed to purchase early publications of the Dragonball and DBZ English mangas-
I got DB Vol. 3 & 4 and DBZ Vol. 3 (where Nappa fucks everyone up and gets GGPOed by Goku)

Just fight fight fight, with practically no story, ridiculous muscles and lots of talk about power levels.(You're that strong?! Then the Buu story began and the humor came back, there were wacky characters and it even regained some of the emotion that the very first episodes had.
When I talked about this with a Japanese colleague, she looked at me with horror and disgust in her eyes and started to rant about how the Buu story sucked and that was why DB got canceled. I couldn't believe it! Am I the only one who thinks this?:confused:

Now I see what you're saying. That can get pretty boring. On the other hand, with One Piece or Hokuto no Ken, when the opponent comes up with some other trick the hero comes up with some other one! Sure, sometimes they might lose, but there are rarely any "power up" or training sequences. That's probably why I really like One Piece...

And from what I understand, Toriyama ended DB himself after not being able to keep up with fan demands anymore. He obviously wanted the second part of DB, or "Z" to be Gohan's story, but everyone wanted Goku. I do think the ending is pretty well done, but it lost its impact due to GT ruining it.

I remember the first time seeing it on TV when I was like 12 and thinking "This is the absolute coolest thing I have ever seen! I want to watch this every chance I get!" The Freiza Saga was pretty good too, except a little to dragged out in that final fight.

I still haven't seen the Cell Saga from beggining to end, but I don't really have a desire too. It was kind of cool, but really just seemed like you couldn't tell who was stronger then who anymore. Akira Toriyama himself said that he started making super Saiyan's hair yellow so that you could actually see a change in the character when they got stronger (And to save on inking in the manga).

Boo was entertaining, but a little to crazy. It seems like they were trying to get back to there magic-storyline roots from Dragonball. The Dragonball Z stuff in this comic about sums it up.

It's sad that cool characters like Piccolo, Alt. Future Trunks, Vegeta and Tien all got shafted despite having such great potential.

I find it odd that you're favorite tribute is just momentum to his failure.

I mean, it fits, but that just makes it seem like you're utterly depressed about his character and not much of a fan (despite Linkin Park trying to hard to rock your socks off).

You'll also want to check out the separate artwork as it explains some of the story and kinda previews what may come. I recommend it to anyone into DB manga. This guy absolutely nails Toriyama's artwork and style while incorporating everything in the DB AF lore. I can't wait till this is all finished (it's gonna be a few years)

These two butterflies fly up and immediately Dende and Popo start shouting that they shoudln't fly near him, etc. Butterflies get zapped, mr. Popo cries, then Dende says it's ok, 'cause he can heal them. Shot of butterflies flailing around on the ground, broken wings and all> Mr. Popo: "You saved them!"

Sorry, if this has been talked about, but there's like nearly 60 pages and I didn't want to go through all of them to find out, however this is for all of the DBZ Guru's out there seriously, since my buddies and I where having a little debate about how powerful characters in DBZ really are, not as in, 'who's the strongest" but as in, what can they do at the current lvls in destruction abilities.

Some of my buddies take the notion that Goku and the rest of the DBZ where only strong enough to only blow up planets, and where never capable of wiping out a galaxy at will.

However I've always believed that characters like Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo etc by the time the Buu saga came around where far more then capable of blowing up a galaxy. In fact, they would be capable of wiping out more then one effectively.

The notion was that, they couldn't do it because they never "ever" achieved it or did it. Yet I've always felt that the reason they where never shown psychically doing it, is because

1. They are the good guys, which is why they don't blow up galaxies when they are more then capable of doing so

2. It would get extremely stupid if galaxies where getting blown away each time they confronted a new super ridiculously powerful enemy and

3. That when channeling their energy and releasing it, that they would aim the force of the energy blast mainly at the opponent, so that the full power of it is unleashed on the baddie...or at least most of it, therefore you don't see planets/galaxies turning into small particles.

I do remember, something along the lines of Cell saying something that he could wipe out a galaxy if he wanted too. Although not Canon, Broly easily wiped out galaxies at will in the DBZ Movie as stated, and his power lvl at that time period in comparison to Goku, Gohan and Vegeta in Post-Buu Saga is nowhere near that.

Although it's not completely cannon, I'm running under the assumption, that the DBZ Movie and the DBZ canon versions pretty share the same abilities and power lvls of the same sort. Which is why I believe characters around Goku, Gohan and Vegeta's lvl, I guess you could throw in SSJ3 Gotenks in here, and "possibly" Piccolo would be capable of such feats, which is wiping out a galaxy with ease.

So yeah, I'm just curious and would like to get a correct answer on this...we where up all night talking about DBZ, however the original DB was the absolute best, Goku slapping females on the crotch to identify them as male and female was too funny!

It still bothers me even now that the War of the Worlds white kid is playing Goku. Fuck that shit, I ain't supporting this "Holywood style" dog vomit of a DBZ movie, and whenever they actually get Goku's race down correctly, I'll think about actually taking it seriously.
