Well Im not bored with the game, I just dont know what I am doing wrong like what you said. I think it is my lack of offline experiance that is holding me back.Unfortunately, there's nobody that plays on live anymore that can give you the solid wtf-you're-doing-wrong stats you require. Last person that I knew that would teach through experience was HunterSFL and that schmuck quit live. Start going to offline tournaments and start to get to know the people in your area so you can learn from each other -_-; A lot better than learning from people on XBL that's for sure. If you go to tournaments you'll see that the majority aren't that amazing, only the top 15-20% of each local tournament are match-video quality. Unless it's a big tournament like T-# or whatever -_-;

Waggs- u and i have been bullshitting about meeting offline for a minute... the time for us to meet is now

last couple of tourneys at W2Z had Justin,DXP,Arturo,Kofiend,Mutant xp, Flare, Tinshi,Bacardi, NESTOR, Min, Therapist, comebackkid, capcom killah, me and so many other really good players that the opportunity to learn and get better is crazy

there was a time when it was only a handful of us there, now there are bi-weekly ranbats in effect and tourneys comin up so we gotta hook up homie.

come through, pm me, call me 646-270-1801 , send a letter, homing pigeon, telegram just come through. you'll get the hype back for the game....trust me

Bacardi alone will make the trip worth it

Eish is right. offline is the way...get hype!!!!!!

I've never understood why some people come off with such a negative attitude in the Street Fighter community.

We ARE a community. This place is made up of your fellow players and peers.

Not everything has to be roses and flowers and happy little smiles, but I'd love to see more respect shown as a whole to people on this forum and in the community at large.

I love where this thread is going.

As for people treating each other better as a whole...we're lucky it's not any worse. Just the way things are. You just have to get out there and play with the real players under real situations. That's all. XBL will just make you lazy and wont teach you how to play when it really counts.

If you live in a town with scrubs in an area where there's no real high level scene...then yeah that would make sense. Waggs on the other hand is like an hour at most away from some of the top players on the East Coast.

My advice Waggs is to take a small break. Maybe just not play it for a week. Like anything in life sometimes stuff becomes routine. For instance I went golfin last week and I kept hooking the ball. I couldn't stop doing it. So I didn't swing a club for two weeks, came back, and I was good to go. Sometimes you get stuck in habits and keep doing the same thing over and over. And as Yoda says, "you must unlearn what you have learned." Maybe I am going over the top with my theories but it works for me.

"Just the way things are," is an excuse.

As you said, don't be lazy. And actually try to build something.

Other games have strong communities, this could be one too — but it starts with having the people inside of it actually making the effort to build a stronger community.

That happens through publicity and sponsorship. People aren't going to magically be more polite to each other. It's when things become more professional and literally rules are enforced that things will ever really change. People still dont take fighting games that seriously as a whole (people aren't making a living off of fighting games as of yet) so there's no incentive to really get people to act a certain way. People aren't seeing how we act on national TV on a daily basis.

Especially over the internet on a message forum. People have been at each other's throats (both literally and virtually) over fighting games for years. Even on GameFAQs where people get modded over everything people still look for ways to make a holes of themselves online. It's sad to say "that's just the way things are" but that REALLY is the way things are. It's a competitive community and it's not like we are near each other to act in a "real life" matter in front of each other.

For a lot of people being a holes over the internet is what makes things interesting due to the inability to actually meet in person to play fighting games. Without the drama reading text all day would just be "hey GG's...oh btw GG's" etc etc. The only time good sportsmanship is ever interesting is during higher levels of play (offline tournaments, high level money matches etc). Otherwise it's just another GG that people just see and move on. It's interesting because it's always the BG's that catch people's attention or get on people's nerves.

I agree that the bad games and negative things catch people's eyes.

And being in this community for awhile, I think we can both safely say we'll never run out of that.

On the other hand, being cool with your fellow players can also be very interesting. Imagine if the tone of this thread primarily focused on helping Waggs313 get his swagger back.

There would be quite a few interesting tips and suggestions on how to regain your form if you're losing it. Something other players could look over to help get better.

There was some of that, but it would have been a lot better to see some of the veterans on this forum also throw their 2 cents in without the negativity.

It's ironic that you mention people being able to make money playing SF for a living. Because I think a big key to that is having a lot of competition that's at a really high level.

Building up our community and making others better while improving ourselves will help get us there.

I also agree, but even then we can still choose the way we interact with those people, or maybe NOT interact with those people.

If people shut you out and don't listen to you, or you don't get a friendly response, sometimes that's enough for some people to change their ways.

Males have a different way of interacting with each other, and often times sarcasm, and other seemingly cruel ways of interacting are employed. Sensitivities are more typical of girls, who worry more about bonds and relationships. Furthermore, they often bond through words (conversation) while males bond through shared experiences. In other words, if you're not a girl, I don't see why you should react like one to typical male ways of interacting.

why does anyone listen to sf like he's not full of beans?

So now you're going to be my stalker? Follow me around and post little bullshit that has nothing to do about you to try to piss me off? Autistic: Why is it that it bothers you to know that I can whip you at 3S blindfolded? Want to play again, and have me take a picture of the drop screen?

From my experience, this is a maturity issue. I knew plenty of guys in high school and in college that behaved this way, but now that I'm out of that part of my life — you rarely see it.

It all depends on who you hang out with I guess, but the sarcasm and cruel ways go by the wayside when you find and develop better tools for interacting with people.
