Am I abnormal?

Hello!


My good buddy CrouchingTiger often tells me how abnormal I am for some of the things I do and how I act. I wanted some other opinions. Here are a few.

1) I drink with a straw when I have a glass that's full of ice.

When it comes to canned drinks or bottled drinks that are already ice cold without ice, I just drink them straight up. I hate HATE when I want to drink out of a glass that has ice in it and the ice flows forward and hits my teeth/lips and freezes the shit out of me, prompting me to let off sipping on the drink. When I'm thirsty, I want to drink not sip.

CT likes to chew ice and I don't, so I can see why he would think it's weird to want to use a straw in a glass with ice. Also, chewing on ice is the equivalent of chewing on aluminum foil for me so I gotta say "nope" to it. I was also told as a kid that when I go to restraunts, use a straw because they don't clean the tops of the glasses that well and waiters/waitresses grab the glass by the top where you have to put your mouth.

2) CT has allergies and he sneezes quite a bit, so much so that he doesn't even cover his mouth. Which normally isn't a bad thing when you're in the open. But we're in his room watching something on the computer and he'll lean towards the floor and let out this violent sneeze and then he looks at me and says "UH OH, Jamall, better run for the hills!" because I give him this look like "thanks for the consideration". Just recently, he and I ride to work together and he got sick with something and he was sneezing nonstop and not covering his mouth and he throws out the "run for the hills, Jamall!" line at me.

On the way back and forth from work he's sneezing in the car not making any attempt to cover his mouth. A few days later after he's feeling better, I get sick...

I know there's other ways that you can pick up a virus but this is an upper respiratory infection and I'm 100% confident I caught it because of the excessive sneezing. His theory is "I sneeze at the floor so the majority of it goes right into the carpet.". True, if you cover your mouth, it's still going to get out of your hand but you cut down on the amount of bacteria/ infectious agents that get released into the air.

3) I don't like people drinking out of my drink besides me. I'm pretty sure everyone was taught as a kid "drink out of your own glass and don't share". When I'm with friend's at a fast food place, they won't get a drink and I get up to get something and when I come back I notice the lid is off my drink and my friend is smiling saying "sorry buddy, I just wanted a sip". Even when it's a canned drink my friends will want "a sip" so I let them have the drink and I tell them they can have the rest.

4) I hate watching movies I don't have any interest in. I enjoy movies such as science fiction movies. The last movie I was ever dead set on going to see in theatres was Episode 3 of Star Wars. After that, there hasn't been one movie I've looked at, pulled my penis out and started beating off to, because I JUST DON'T LIKE WATCHING MOVIES. My friends like watching movies like everyone else I suppose and I always get the "What is wrong with you?" crap. I hate how it's a prerequisite for movies to be AT LEAST 2 hours and 40 minutes long. I just don't like sitting to watch a movie for that long, I'm sorry. And the last thing I want to do is sit down for that much time watching a movie I have .5% interest in.

1: Normal for me. Sensitive teeth is shitty, but I don't have it that bad to use a straw at home.
2: Normal. It's common courtesy and etiquette, I don't want somebody's fucking snot flying all around.
3: Depends on who it is. If it's my family, that's not such a big deal cause I know they're clean. If it's my gf, I know that if her mouth is dirty then so will mine be, later on.
4: I don't watch movies I don't want to. Movies that I don't like sober are completely changed when substances are in the mix. I'll go to a shitty movie in order to laugh at it. I just saw Shrek III because my girl and I went to the Drive In (Yeah, they exist in maine) and they show a double feature... so in order to get a good spot I had to sit through that piece of shit.

That's not really abnormal, not even obsessive compulsive either. Although I do like ice, no-one drinks out of my glass except my gf. I'm pretty sure most people would appreciate others covering there mouths/nose when they cough/sneeze too. Who wants to see a movie that they have no interest in? Although some people will becuase its probably nothing else to do or when you're in a relationship you'll see PLENTY of those. Also most movies aren't 2h 40m. I haven't even seen too many 2 hour movies released recently. Most I've saw were like an hour 30 min or 89 min.

yeah, im the same way, except with the straw thing, i like chewing on ice but i'll use a straw if there is one around

all that other stuff im the same way, i cant stand when someone coughs/sneezes without covering their face, or at least turning their head away(if we are in a open area), when people dont even move from the same position and start coughing i feel like upercutting them. And i'll let my family drink/eat off my stuff but anyone else no. Its inevitable that some of their spit will get in your drink/on your food if you let them put it in their mouth, so i dont let them, i dont care if you are a fine girl (unless we kiss regularly) or a homie or nothin im not sharing my drinks/food unless i break off a piece or pour it into another container

yes you are weird, borderline creepy.

You kinda remind me of Stabby in a way, but he has much more personality than you now. Stabby and you both seem very intelligent though. Its hard to explain, if I had to put it in words you are the type of person that seems to have spent too much time in a book. Almost like you had little real friends in your life before now. To me it seems you have very low social skills. Stabby did at first to, but in recent years he has become 100 times better. Now I actually wish I could hang more with him, so maybe there is hope for you.

What I said wasnt meant to be insulting, I do that a lot, but it was my actually impression of you from the couple of tourneys I have met you at. Well here's one I just thought of that I'll continue to do.

Last year at college, I was over at a friend's apartment until 3am and then it's time to walk home. Well, he lives on one side of campus and I live on pretty much the other end, which is a 20 minute walk. That's if you walk straight through campus and to my place but I decided because it's 3 am, I'd better play it safe and walk around the campus which basically tacks another 5 minutes onto the walk.

Walking this way, I'm taking the sidewalk that's right by the main roads that go around the campus, therefore there's always someone driving a car by. All the clubs, bars, hangouts are on the otherside of the road off campus too and although they're closing down, there's still people out and about.

Anyway, my main reason for walking through the more populated part of campus at 3am is basically a deterent. I just don't like the idea of walking through our college campus that late at night: you're 10 minutes deep into the campus and then someone or several people jump you and you're fucked.

I told my friend I did that and he laughed at me and asked what my problem was. I figured it would be common sense to realize a college campus isn't some holy ground that bad people can't set foot on after the lights go out when there's nobody around.

Probably can chalk that one up to paranoia but I consider it being smart.

As usual, RPD doesn't even understand why I pick on him. First and foremost, it's prolly just cuz we're friends and I give him a hard time jokingly.

But for the Freudians out there who believe there is truth behind all jesting:

1. Hating ice is fine. He claims "i don't like ice hitting my teeth." THAT'S where my problem lies. Are his lips broken? My lips do a fine job of blocking ice on the occasions I don't want to chew it.

2. I haven't done a study, but when I see people put their hand over their mouth when they sneeze, I just assume the germs fly outward around the hand. Kinda like if you put your hand in front of a water hose. Hence I don't cover my mouth out of futility. I DO however (almost) always turn my head down or away from anybody around me. Again I haven't done a study, but I'd assume that does a better job of adverting germs than putting your hand over your mouth would.

3. As with everybody else, I would only want people I know well drinking out of my glass. Your example doesn't sound related to me on this one, so I'll assume it's Brandon. But drinking from the side of the cup while you drink from the straw seems pretty harmless. I might let someone I didn't know as well do that.

4. Nobody likes watching movies they don't like. I give you a hard time because you like movie A. When movie B comes out and is similar, and you don't want to see it, I can't figure out why so I give you a hard time.


Come on buddy, you should know my schemes by now. =p

As for what else makes RPD weird... all I can think of is that he eats plain fries, but dips his burger (which already has ketchup on it) into a pile of ketchup. He likes extra ketchup, fine, but it seems like the "normal" thing to do would be to remove the bun and squirt more on there.



Lol, but seriously though... clearly all of these things are just preferences that I jest about. Probably THE ONLY TRULY WIERD THING I can think of... is that he eats spaghetti on a daily basis. Often more than once a day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack. Anything goes for spaghetti. Being able to eat the same food every day and not get tired of it is indeed a bit strange.

Not that it wouldn't be convenient!

Heh, good to know I'm not alone. Plain fries and then I dip my burger into ketchup. Another variation would be to put Fries into my burger, take a bite, and then stuff my mouth full of fries, for double the fry goodness.
