Hey NevermoreRC: I didn't know that you went to Purdue. Do you play against the 3rd Strike player Jon? He's really good with Chun-Li and recently did very well at a tourney in Indy. Do you know of this guy and do you attend the tourney scence? Just curious.

No, I don't attend the tourney scene. I just started playing 3rd strike seriously a few months ago, and I've always loved fighting games but never really been any good at em.

There's a guy at the Purdue Union arcade every now and then that's a pretty good Chun-Li, get my ass kicked every time.

I'm not too worried about the scene here though. I'll be moving to Aurora, CO in a month or two and I've already seen the nice arcade they have there. :woot:

LOL. I could have sworn you were messing with me on the last match. Good set. Connection was a bit off but solid enough. I missed so many chances to win in all my other matches. Stars just aligned right in that last match. Fun diverse fights.

MG's Marduke whatever. Umm, playing an Alex that uses stomp patterns and and Alex's C.HP as a mix-up is about as rewarding (and skillful) as Russian roulette. Damn right I dropped. You re-challenged, played pink Sean and got wasted, despite having a lag (and lag-abuse) advantage. :lol:

He has no impressive Sa II juggles he has no stun combo he has no double dash punch. He has no reset off of a dash punch with that little kick. He taunts after every round (good or bad). He plays a few guys but lacks skill in other characters.

Also Ice dem ballz or whatever your name is i think you should stop picking that stupid Yellow Urien because its reminds me of piss.

real lady after a while i didnt mind you taunting... once you stopped stalling on the rematch screen and just playing it was more about the matches then tryiong to piss each other off... though i did stall on purpose since i was playing professor layton puzzle shit on my ds it's a good distraction while waiting for the next match.

once i relearn the timing on quick stands on live lol you can come out with some other randomness...

ggs nevermore make sure you get those projectiles up and infront of you early so shoto's cant just walk into sweep range and harrass you.

GG's Ergo Proxy. I'm surprised the score wasn't much more in your favor. Playing against either of your twins was a lost cause. Connection was hopeless. Good games all in all. You seem pretty knowledgeable. I suspect I know who you are.

Would have much more respect for your game if you were to play a more even defense / offense balance. At the moment, the bias is massively toward the offensive and I think it causes you to do a lot of stuff that isn't safe. Urien's tackle is parry bait from that range. Granted I missed most of them, but offline you practically need to cover it on block or parry with the Aegis. It isn't free. Same thing with Yun's Lunge Punch and whiffing Urien's headbutt into throw. That's not going to work half as often in a reasonable connection.

Very nice execution on Dudley's target combos, but again, you can't just keep jumping in with them when you're facing a loss and desperate for damage. That's incredibly frustrating from to deal with in lag. Especially if you jump in and hit high, then go immediately into a low. So hard to block :(

GG's Crazy EX. You're evidently a very good player. The best I've run into in a long time. Rock solid defense and zoning with Chun. Nice to run into somebody capable of actually confirming C.MK.

It pissed me off no end that our connection should be so bad though. I got a lot of unintentional hick-ups and generally made a mess of things because of it. It prevented me from doing most of what I wanted, making things pretty pointless from this side. Would definitely like to play again, hopefully the connection will be better then and my zoning game will get a proper work-out. Well played :tup:

GG's. Nice quick set we had there. You've definitely gotten better since last time we've played. Which has been like forever. LOL. Your shotos are real solid now. You seem a little hesitant to verify your supers after short strings. Maybe you're just saving up meter. Your Urien was pretty fun too. Plus the connection was great. Lets do more sometime. Guess I'll play more Ibuki next time as well.

GG's also to Jeimuzu Don. Fun matches we had there and your Ibuki isn't too bad at all. Definitely surprised me. How comes no one plays that shitty version of CVS2 on Xbox anymore???

Cuz its shitty, it's not backwards compatible and the netcode is worse than in this game. Overall the connections in this game are better than in CVS2. SFAC isn't perfect but its obvious they worked on the netcode a bit after CVS2. CVS2 EO is just played out and all the good players either have just decided to play it offline or just moved on to 3S. The fact that EO plays absolutely nothing like the arcade release really hurt its reputation among players. All people ever did back in the day was complain about P groove super cancels and A groove jump in cancels and the lack of RC's. It's just not the same game at all. It's hard to play that game in any kind of lag because of how precise and how smart you need to be in the first place. Even before all the BS Capcom created in the EO version of the game.

3rd Strike is an easier game to play and just kinda wing shit in and it's not as drawn out as CVS2. Pick your character...pick your super...play 2/3 rounds...go back to picking your character and do it again. Instead of the long ass process in CVS2 plus waiting for the diamonds for 4 or 5 rounds etc. In CVS2 EO people used EX grooves or EO mode to compensate for their lack of SF skills but now that stuff is just stupid and looked down upon. In 3rd Strike you don't have to know a ton about the game and can still feel like you're doing something just because of the nature of the game. The only thing in the game among hardcore players that is out of place is picking Gill (other than lag tactics). So as long as you don't pick Gill you are pretty much playing fair game and there's less to complain about as far as honorable play is concerned. Which makes it more fun for everybody. People still bitch about tier whoring, but that's just because they don't know how good they got it compared to what we used to have to play back in the days. Plus...it's just the game that everyone plays these days so the few people that still play this on XBL have a real reason to play this. CVS2 is just old and busted now. It's a fun game...but it's so much harder to realize now that 3S is the glory game of the 2d fighting game scene.

If CVS2 EO became BC it might have had a chance of getting a bit more play but with no chance of the game ever working on 360...there's no hope. 3S being BC definitely helped the game survive and get a few more players that might not have otherwise played if it wasn't. Once people realized the game wasn't going to work on their 360's...they just stopped caring. Which means until the game gets emulated...its online scene will stay dead and its offline scene will just be survived among the dedicated offline players that are left.

GG's City Hunter! Only good set I've had all night. You were 'in the zone' with Elena! Every punishable poke I let slip, earned me a right old kicking. Great reflexes. Nice parrying too. I was feeling your pain when you'd catch me with the arc kick special and the follow up juggle was swallowed up by lag. Very frustrating.

The connection went to pieces toward the end and I managed some utterly abysmal wins with Alex, which will haunt me. As ever, I'm not proud :lol: Really enjoyed the Ken vs Elena and Urien vs Elena matches early on. Even though that miserable bitch throws most of Urien's regular juggles out of the window. Shame the connection was shaky enough to prevent either one of us landing short, short, super. It was also painful to watch the connection rob you of some virtually guaranteed links into super. I took on the parry in some cases to compensate. Here's to playing for fun :tup:

Last game was good too. Best combo in all of Third Strike is Sean's :r: + :hk:, SA1. It's the destroyer of worlds. Get you next time :wink:

Everyone else I played was thoroughly disappointing. :sad:

GG'S XEN: That's it. This was the last time I'm using a fucking square restrictor gate. Man I was about to smash my Sanwa stick. Landing a cr. MP into super was nearly impossible. Random jumpings, not moving forward when I press forward and a lot of fucking things like that happened. After our set I replaced the gate back to a octagonal one, did for 30 minutes tackles into Aegis in training mode and missed it only about ten times. Yes, that's the way it should be. I'm feeling relieved now.
Back to topic. Really liked your zoning with Urien. You did ex headbutt, cr. HP or st. HP always on the right moment. It was hard to getting close to you. Ken was ok too. Nice defense you had there with both of them. Looks like you learned the matchup versus Elena really well. Maybe too good. :arazz::wgrin:
About connection. Sadly it was shitty again. Slowmotion at it best. Still enjoyed our set. See you next time. Be ready to face my Hokuto-Shinken Urien again. :)

Ya, basically.. Pretty simple. You'll pull it off somewhat consistently after a few minutes in training. Lag fucks it up sometimes tho'. I like to cancel with the mk command, so that if the hcb-motion doesn't come out right the sk->mk command combo comes out in stead.

Yeah it started by flashing " reconnect your controller " every here or there.... But that match it just started jumping out of control. Can't fix it either sheesh

gg guys counterhit and nevermore, guys i wont feel butt hurt if you close out and exit our matches if theres too much lag. i rather play people when there isnt any or not play at all. next time theres too much lag just quit and find a better match up cus thats what i do when it starts to slow me up.

PS when you play dont show fear to your opponent, focus on you opponet attack and parry then punish ,most of the people do the same over and over even myself only some people mix alot like crazy ex ,sandybags ,channel anger,and king hefner ................

some people use parry tech they dont attack they stay back they study your moves and they wait until you attack so they can punish after they punish you they rush attack becouse they show you, you are no mach for them...............

thanks for the advice. i imported 3rd strike back in the day on dreamcast but basically only had 8 star AI to play against at best... I found SFA on xbox a few months ago and took it online.. I've only managed to beat you like 1 time out of 50. :arazz:
(not including one where you stood still... i stood there also..lol)
but i think i do decent enough for playing against real competition for just a couple of months...

GGs to Everdred 3S: really nothing i could as your spacing was really on point. I never knew how good that st. mk was. Our connection was really laggy as some points so I think that we'll have to play again during the wee hours of the morning.

yea gg you too connection should be better as you say in the morning i usually pass out by 10 or so and wake at 2-3am so i dont got work till 6 30 so that should be 2 or 3 solid hours of near lag free sessions right there.

i only had to call it short this afternoon cus i had to go back to cleaning some m4's cus we were at a range.
