Dhalsim is actually a bad match-up for Hawk. You just have to keep him at a distance with your limbs and yoga fires and you should be straight. Just keep him at a distance.

I think the connection was bad on my end cos I had laggy games with Louie as well; the previous 3 other times I've played Louie, we've had almost no lag.

On the SPDs: according to T. Akiba's SF2 data (http://nki.combovideos.com/data.html#distance) all the versions of Gief have the same SPD grab range, and I've never really noticed any difference - but I use HF Gief nearly all time anyway.
Though, I've heard that Super and ST Gief have different SPD grab ranges depending on whether it's an LP, MP, or HP SPD; so maybe their HP and MP SPDs have less grab range than WW, CE, and HF Gief's SPDs, but their LP SPDs have the same, I don't know. . . .

The SPD grab range seems greater, though, if the opponent throws out a stationary move that brings his hitbox closer to Gief.
Look at HF Ken's hitboxes on his standing pose and his crouching HK here (the blue boxes): http://www.mastercheng.com/games/sf2t/hitbox/ken.html
You'll see that his hitbox sticks out towards an opponent over his leg on his crouching HK.
And his hitbox comes on before his attack box for this move; so if Gief can walk towards him and predict the crouching HK, he can safely grab him with an SPD from really far away.
(Super Ken's hitboxes for this move are probably the same or very similar.)

i just gotta correct you on one thing tho. first of, i like you manix, i think you are a really cool guy and also a good player. trust me, you HONESTLY think im a that bad of a loser just cause you got a win?? cmon man, we've had sets before when you have had several wins vs. me, i wasnt whining then. it was because of the circumstances, really. i were annoyed after a couple of matches already since i were missing alot of meaty attacks because of the delay, and it was growing on me, i were more annoyed the more matches we played lol, the more i missed.. i can handle losing trust me! there are tho a few ppl that you can handle less good losing to because that you for example dislike them etc.. and you are FAR from one of those, thats why i really felt so damn bad after i dropped =/ i really regret it. i am a really sore loser at times and i have a really bad temper aswell ^^ anyway, sorry.

That is not really an excuse though, just letting you know why I sat there and maybe just blocked and jumped around a few games.

I haven't really played a Blanka before so it's good getting owned by some of your tricks! He seems like a fun character to learn what with all his bite mixups and stuff. Nice Guile too, it's a refreshing change to play someone who goes in for crossups and explores aspects besides the booms.

Switching to CE Gief from HF Gief was just trading the KKK lariat for more power.
I couldn't see much use for HF Gief's KKK lariat against ST Ken with all those crazy kicks that he has. (I'm still quite unfamiliar with ST Ken.)

And nice timing on those reversals. I'll need to start practicing negative egde tick-SPDs more often.

I'm a little late but,

That was a nice ST Ken, one of the better ones (not many regulars on here use a lot of ST Ken). I don't care who my opponents pick so much (though I prefer when they use Super or ST characters). I just like to mix it up bit, even if I'm not that good with some of them, LOL.

I use SSF Chun because I like her SBK over her Upkicks in ST, its easier for me to use as a reversal. Plus Super is my favorite version of SF2 and the one I'm most familiar with so I use a lot of Super versions.

I noticed that you combod 2 c. LKs into super (hit-confirming the first or second c. LK). This is done by chain cancelling a standing LK after the second c. LK, I understand. That's hard to do, isn't it? Good stuff anyway. (I'm gonna have a go at that in training.)


I'm really starting to get used to doing safe tick-SPDs now (finishing the motion at block and releasing a punch button.)
(Safe tick-SPDs don't work with Super and ST Gief, BTW, because you get the whiff animation instead of block.)

Thanks Uber, yeah you just have to kara the s.lk with s.lp at the end to get the super. It's really not that hard, it's just getting your Russian ass in a position to do it without getting SPD'ed!

The safe tick game really paid off as I was getting proper fucked on wakup - plus I was missing a lot more reversals this time round so I had to resort to fierce DP just to take advantage of the startup.

You seemed to control a lot more of the flow in that set, grabbing limbs and baiting out DP's - I found it hard to play my natural game there. Looks like I'll have to adapt a lot more quickly next time!

I've never fought a player who really knows what they're doing with Akuma before.

Referring to the PC. I would just go the ebay route for the adapters. Or you could just call your local Gamestop/Walmart/Radio Shack to see if they still have some available. Truthfully everyone that plays AE from SRK (yea, all 20 of us) should be on there. I've played an opponent in France, and the connection was smooth (even better than most of my connections against Cali guys on Live) :P

Ever since XBL started going haywire after Christmas my connections on AE have been very hit or miss (more so than any other game). I've been getting some bad connections with people I used to never have a problem with. Hopefully it clears up soon. Your a great player and I enjoy playing ya so hopefully XBL clears up soon!

As for using Honda, I'll play whoever you prefer I use most of the time, just let me know which character I should pick... certain characters I just can't do jack with but I'll give it a shot. I prefer not to use dhalsim on xbl though, but am up for dhalsim/guile cause I feel I know that too well.

I use a mic btw (with ps2 controller converter so I can use an ASCII fighting stick), do you have one? If not just post here to let me know. I had an idea before to like move the char select cursor up/down where you wanted to suggest a char choice, what do you guys think? go to the char you want your opponent to pick and go up/down rapidly, and end on his char so the cursor highlights him/her. then pick your own char after he selects (hoping he picks it)... good idea?

I was so ashamed of my execution during that set, I think I missed over half of my DP attempts :sad: I needed them too seeing as your game has a lot of jump ins. Don't know why but the connection went to pieces during the second set and you suddenly leveled up loads as well so that was major beastings on my side.

Nice Ryu man, I don't think I've ever been caught by his j.mp so many times! I liked the fireball trapping style you used later on - very O.Ryu. That super fireball knockup to j.mp juggle was a nice finish too.

That Hawk/Gief match was really funny, it was like "who's gonna get to the SPD first??" :rofl: It was quite fun getting down the safe negative edge cr.lp but I could see that getting annoying online so I only played a few with Hawk.


Mad Possum - I think we got one or 2 playable games but then lag ruined it. It's so annoying when it cuts in and out like that because I wanna carry on playing just so we might get real playable matches.
