Then Repeat until you get Shoryuken'd Or Parried...It's challenging but you too can be a pro Akuma Player just like our hero Victriny3, Say Hi Victriny!

I read the first post. Couldn't agree more ProjectJustice. XBL Akuma is crutch play from start to finish. You can apply a massive amount of pressure with him and not have to worry about being parried or punished. You can zone air fireballs and get away with having really shitty timing. Spam dive kicks without needing to worry about anti-air. Hurricane kicks are utterly free and even if you do get blocked, you can wangle the frame disadvantage to your favour by taking even more risks.

I've yet to fathom why they all play SA3. What's that all about!?! :lol:

I'm really sick of the standard of play online and XBL Akumas seem to epitomize everything that is wrong with it. I really want to improve, but there are now less than about 50 good players on Live. You can't learn from playing against mash and crutch XBL drivel. It's not the same game.

I don't wanna veer too O/T, but in the same way, 95% of all XBL Hugos would struggle to ever land a hit offline. His body splash is that easy to parry offline, that XBL players won't know what's hit them.

This entire topic is ridiculous, people can bitch and moan about Akuma "lag tactics" but I've yet to hear any specifics and until I do it's just an excuse as to why people lose. Not to mention Akuma is way, WAY below the list on characters with balance issues, small stun bar combined with no EX moves and taking more damage than anyone else in the game is a pretty big handicap. You punish 3 of his mistakes and he's done. Characters like Hugo and Ken can kill him with 2 and with a full SA2 bar Makoto can do it in 1. Learn how to combo and you'll soon realize that little air fireballs and dive kicks won't add up, as an Akuma player I have to punish about 6-8 mistakes in order to finish someone off. BTW if you dash forward and do a quick attack you can punish Akumas that start off with an air fireball, you can also throw a slow fireball if you use a shoto, it will hit Akuma and you can evade his. Good players know how to work around them, so start learning.

As for predictability, welcome to fighting games. Every yun will do 20+ dive kicks per round and play a ground game only when SA3 is full, every ken will use SA3 and combo High, Fierce, Shoryuken. Remy's run and neglect their lower defenses, while jump kicking after a projectile. Q lives in the corner, Chun-li abuses her priorities, and Urien throws right angle projectiles and hopes for a lucky shot. This game is old and everyone knows every character's style by now. Sure, there are some exceptions but they're rare and everyone's trying to maximize damage output. Is this seriously news to anyone? Gripe less, practice more.

This entire topic is ridiculous, people can bitch and moan about Akuma "lag tactics" but I've yet to hear any specifics and until I do it's just an excuse as to why people lose.

The original poster has clarified several times that he is merely frustrated with the standard of Akuma play. Like me, I'm sure he'd like to face more Akuma players who pose a challenge - and who would still pose a challenge offline.

Dealing with tedious crutch tactics that depend the connection being too latent to contend with is dull. When this does work against me it's very frustrating because the same approach in a good connection would be much easier to put a stop to.

Free dive kicks in a shitty connection? Offline you practically need to get them into block stun first or you'll eat anti-air. Constant hurricanes going unpunished? Offline you're facing block and throw, maybe even short, short, super. Don't even get me started with the run away air fireballs to bait them to jump, then trying to catch them with an air hurricane. Drivel. Offline people will parry those fireballs all day without needing to jump.

Not to mention Akuma is way, WAY below the list on characters with balance issues, small stun bar combined with no EX moves and taking more damage than anyone else in the game is a pretty big handicap.

People say that Ryu is the most balanced character in 3S. On some tier lists, Akuma is right beside him. The fact that Akuma has very low stamina and a short stun bar is most likely a balancing measure in the first place. Even with zero meter Akuma can still land formidable damage. He's comparable in this respect to Ryu and Alex. The majority of the cast need some meter to be hitting over 50 points of damage. Other characters need a full stock to match him. Akuma can do this sort of damage in regular punishment scenarios.

Well...being clueless about Akuma players...I mean you're already an Akuma player so you have a headstart. The fact that you're even qualified for SBO is technically a head start. You've been through enough matches and learned enough to be in a position to represent your country in 3S. Mirror matches are one of those things that you just have to get a feel for.

Like I've played Ibuki mirror matches against quite a few of the few US Ibuki players that are out there. Genearlly...the fact that you already play that character should give you an idea of what to do. Sometimes you'll run into sitautions where you'll both hit each other with the same attack or just fall into patterns because you both are looking to do similar things. Against other Ibuki players I usually purposely lose the first round just so I can understand their attack pattern. Then from there I already have an idea what they are going to do and then it's open season on them.

I haven't really fought another Ibuki player in the US so far who's actually better than me. Problem is that Ibuki is a momentum oriented character and it takes a second to figure out how to defend against the specific way someone will play her. It's kinda risky to go all out from round 1 just because the way they are going to play is probably different and if you're not looking out for their tricks you'll start taking hits unnecessarily and then put yourself in trouble later on.

Problem is you're going to be facing against other Akuma players that have like 3 times the experience you have and definitely much more experience in the mirror match than yourself. You're just not going to get that kinda practice beforehand so the idea would be to try and gain as much knowledge out of the opponent in the first round as you can and then apply that to the second and hopefully 3rd rounds.

You only get one match to show what you got so if you end up against another Akuma player apply what you already know and take your time in the first round. The chances of you winning if you just try and bum rush them as soon as the announcer says go are slim. You need to have some kind of knowledge base of their attacking pattern before being able to take initiative. Especially at something like SBO.

Harmonaz, after this sunday, Akuma is back for one last stand.

Although, I am reluctant to pick up stick to play with him. Reason being for mastery of instant kara. That's the only trick I can't seem to master on pad. So I will have to shun that aside which really hurts but, oh well. I'm going to study all of my videos and try and pick him up again.

I noticed something about Akuma. Once you have your opponent in the corner the match is yours, as long as you can predict what your opponents reactions will be to your moves. I'm going to focus on trying to get my opponent into the corner even if I have to take risks. I won't take too much risks though considering Akuma has little to no health. One thing I noticed is that Akuma's backwards throw can be kara'd! I'm going to try and master this although I have no clue how to do it. I have done it a couple times before out of sheer mistake though.

Plus, I haven't seen one person manage to jump out of my hk kara demons. :lovin:

In the Akuma mirror. Save up two meters. Then poke the shit out of the other Akuma. :) Make him go into the air and eat him up with Air-tatsus.

I Agree Naz but, Don't let your ego get to you as well (no pun intended bro) seems like your being an akuma hater rather for some reason and don't get me wrong, some of the players I've played online (when) were cheap shots, not even playing strategically more like air fire ball run away spam again then hurricane kick etc. Nowadays since I haven't been playing online against others, I primarily have somewhat of a competition when I play. I wouldn't mind playing against you sometime soon however, doubt it would happen as I don't play 3S on my old xbox and sure as hell not playing it on my 360. wouldn't mind th ggpo server deal but as it is, I'm usually fed up with setting computer settings by the end of the day when I get home from work dealing with computers all day. My advice, teach the rookies whom want to learn more, that's what I would do when I played online.

Even offline, the comp I face, i only face em while i am shit faced, being drunk. lol, and i still either give em a hell of a fight, or i just win still. I never mean to toot my horn, or ever say, "My akuma/Ryu is the hot shit", but i just love giving people the challenge with em, if i win or lose. I at least want heads to be like, "Damn this Alacard dude is tough", specially since i Had a rough start when i first joined the forums, i felt I have to prove something to u cats, or just leave an impression like, "This dude don't play".

I still would rather be told, Directly, if one of my shoto characters suck, specially if I was played against Recently. I like proving peeps differently :) Now I at that point would have an ego trip! lol.
