I'm currently working at this one job two days a week. I just got hired by Wal-Mart for part-time, but i don't know if i can work two jobs and go to college in August at the same time? I don't wanna work now n quit in August nah mean. Gonna look bad on my resume. I'm planning on going to school in the morning, so when i get off school i go straight to work. But that would mean i might be late for work. Or can i talk to my counselor for getting out of school early so i can head to work? Any advice guys? :xeye:

it's walmart, hella corporate, high turn-over rate.

if you're worried about your resume', put in your 2 weeks before you quit, and if future employers ask, tell them the truth, it was for school.

dude. its wal mart. and if its just a part time job and you quit for wahtever reaason, you dont have to put it on your resume(not that you should put walmart anywhere close to your name in print). but go pick up some extra cash and bail if you need. i dont think itll be that tough tho. if 76 year old uncle jimmy can handle a couple hours of pushing carts and stocking dvds, im sure you can handle it too.

O no, i didn't say it's hard or anything. I'm just worry about my resume and how i'm gonna attend school at the same time with two jobs that's all. So if in the future i apply at some place and they ask for my employment history, i don't need to put down wal-mart? Can't they find out about it?

well. if you dont put down wal mart, theyre not gonna go out of their way to find out. this is unless youre applying for the FBI. then theyll do full background check. but if youre gonna apply for another part time job or something, no ones gonna bother. esp if its a temp job like that. or if you really dont have that much of a work history... then youd put it down if you must.

Just quit Wal-Mart when it's time for school and put it on your resume as a summer job. People get jobs just for the summer all the time in retail.

I don't think most employers are going to hold it against you that you quit a job at a place like Wal-Mart for school. Summer jobs are fairly common, so if you tell someone it was just a summer job or mark it down as temporary employment in a resume no one is likely going to question it.

I decided not to work at wal mart cuz of the long distance. BUT, i just got an email saying i got a tour of the facilty of this UPS company at 6 today. I apply at the place but they want to give me a tour of the facility? WTF? Can anyone tell me what's going on here? Am i going to get the job or not?

Gonna look bad on my resume.

Not true.

I've had up to 3 part-time jobs (same time) during college, each lasting a minimum of one quarter. That's 'bout the only time where you can have a whole mess of part time jobs and not worry about it.

With the right amount of wording, you can present yourself to future employers as someone who can juggle it all at the same time. If they ask how you do it, just say "good time management and great focus."

After college, you'll see that you won't have that kind of luxory anymore; take advantage of it while you can.

Also I recommend a(n) job/internship (relating to your field of study) over money anyday.

My cousin worked at UPS as a dispatcher and he never mentioned anything about a facility tour, but then his job didn't require him to work at a facility.

I would look at it as a good thing. They probably want to give you a better idea of what you are going to be doing all day because a lot of times people apply for a job not really knowing what they are in for and end up quitting immediately after they start. It would help them to weed out the bad applicants.

You should go and be enthusiastic. This is probably another step in the interview process. In general if you apply for a job and they call you back for something (unless it is to tell you you are not getting the job) it is usually for a good reason.

When they give you a tour they give you a few days to decide if you want the job or not. I work at the one here in Montgomery and they treat us like shit. I dunno. It may be different at the one in your city.
