What are the odds of an OS X port? Slim-to-nil, I assume?

Here's how to use GGPO on an Intel Mac:

1) Download VMware Fusion Beta 4.1 from here: http://www.vmware.com/beta/fusion/

2) Install and XP guest in a virtual machine

3) Make sure your virtual networking is set to bridged (not NAT or host only!)

4) Install the GGPO client in the VM and play there.

=)

yeah, I gave up hope of ever using my PPC mac as a gaming machine. I eventually went to pricewatch build myself a cheap emulation PC for like a tenth of the price. =/

I still play starcraft on it from time to time though.

Ponder, good looking out on the OSX stuff though, you guys have all the bases covered it seems.

this would excel as a multiplatform opensource app

I'm running XP Pro with Parallels on my MacBook and so far everything has installed smoothly and the game runs great on Final Burn. Can't log-in to GGPO just yet because of the host transfer thats currently underway but hopefully I'll be able to test this out soon enough.

A million thanks to the Cannons and SRK staff for bringing this to the players.

I have a macbook and tried to use GGPO through Parallels... I could log into the server just fine, but when I would actually go into an online game the emulator would crash (worked fine single player). I think it might have something to do with the way parallels shares the internet connection with my macbook, so I'm going to reinstall Windows XP via Bootcamp and see how that works.

Can't wait to play with everyone soon. ;D

Are you running the latest version of Parallels? I just upgraded to 3.0.

Nah, I got version 2 when it was out... I really want to get version 3.0, but I don't want to pay for the upgrade (essentially because I never use it anymore). One problem I had with Parallels was that I couldn't use my USB adapter to plug in my PS2 controller... Kept giving me some odd error. I used to run XP through Bootcamp and it worked perfectly with my adapter.

Haha, I wouldn't call that covering your bases. Really just telling them to get a PC, but in a cheap way, but it is a solution.

You know, the creators of GGPO work for VMware. If you loved them you would uninstall Parallels and use Fusion.

inkblot: ah, I did not know that. I meant to try VMware, however it's just one of those things that I never got around to. Maybe when the craziness of all my summer classes end I'll give that a go. Hell, if it runs GGPO fine I'll even get rid of my bootcamp partition (only made it today to use GGPO ;P).

This topic reminded me about trying to use a VM to run windows and run GGPO with it, and sure enough, the VM I use most in Linux also has an OSX version.
