I've downloaded eveything I need also the Alpha 2 rom I have works just fine. I don't have a router and I've even turned off my windows firewall and yet I have not been able to connect to anyone, I just keep getting the black screen.
It's my understanding that once a challange is excepted the game load automatically right?, I don't need to load up the rom manuelly or anything?. Because that's what I've been doing and nothing happens. A couple of times I've even tryed to load the rom and still I get a black screen Please someone lend me some help because I really love this and with what everyone been saying about how theres no lag and it runs smoother then XBL I would definitely pay for this.
So please help a SF fan out.:smokin:

I feel your pain man. Even with a router, I still can't fix what's wrong with my connection or computer settings...

When you run just FinalBurn and load up the ROM, does it still give you a blank screen?

Nope, like I said before the rom works perfectly which is why I have no clue what else to do. I've allowed access to GGPO and FinalBurn to both my firewalls and even when they are down it still doesn't work. The only thing I can think of is maybe I don't have the right rom. I can't say where I got it because of TOS but I did what everyone else did and googled it. Downloaded the first mame rom link I found, which was the first link.
God I really want this to work. My 360 died on my last week and my PS2 this week, I have nothing else to get my SF fix besides this and it's driving my mad that I can't get it to work.

Well I tried deleting everything and reinstalling it and still getting black screens when someone challanges me. I'm using the mame rom Street Fighter Alpha 2 (US 960306), this is the right one no?.
If anyone has any ideas I beg of you, let me know.

That's the thing, I'm not using any router. I have a modem hook directly to my PC and I just switch from my PC to 360 just because routers are too complicating to even bother with. I had one once and had nothing but problems with my online gaming so I got rid of it. I tryed opening the GGPO port listed in my firewall but nothing changed. I am really really stumped on what to do here.
If you are running any virus protection disable those too.
Just as a check: You have opened UDP Ports 6000-6012 and TCP 7000

I think this is my problem but the problem is I'm not that tech savy. So how exactly would I do this. I looked for these port numbers in my Firewall port settings but none of them had those numbers.
I would be extremely greatful if you or someone could dumb it down for this stoner and direct me on how to do this.
Oh and yeah my Anti virus is disabled but your probably right about the opening ports. I know you had to open them but I thought that just applied to people using routers.
"Start"
"Control Panel"
"Network Connections"
Right Click your internet connection (If you are wireless right click the wireless one, etc)

Select "Properties"
Click the "Advanced Tab"
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v66/ddebelak/Advanced-Settingscopy.jpg
In the box that says "Windows Firewall" Select the "settings button"
Go to the "Exceptions" Tab
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v66/ddebelak/Exceptionsaddport.jpg
Click "Add Port"
In the box that comes up: Put in a name for the port -- I suggest GGPO so you know what it is for -- the port Number (i.e. 6000) and finally whether it will be TCP/IP or UDP
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v66/ddebelak/Addport.jpg
Repeat the "Add Port" step for each port you need to open
Edited for picture assist.

I have the same problem, except I'm on DSL modem, so when I want to add a port on my modem, it saks for a IP address too...
EDIT: Forget it, I got it.

I also have this problem. The rom works in Final Burn, but when I try to challenge or am challenged by someone on GGPO, i get a perpetual black screen until they disconnect on me.
I forwarded the ports, however was not given an option with my router for UDP or TCP.
Edit: Found my problem. I thought I was the .0.1 PC on this router, and im actually .0.3 -- whoops.
Got on, and successfully played Humbag once. Now, it cant get it to play anyone else again.

I just removed it using Add/Remove and then deleted the folder in program folder.
Still haven't gotten it to work but I'm going to call my ISP and see why the ports won't open using my DSL modem.

Is your IP static or dynamic? If you didn't set a static IP that may be your problem, or everyone else you tried to play isn't configured properly...

Check if your modem has a page just like a normal router page. I had to help my friend out with port forwarding one time and they ordered a modem that also had a wireless connection. Pretty much just type in http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 and see if that loads up a page for your modem. You might also want to check http://portforward.com for some specific guides on your model.
I'm pretty much saying that you might need to forward ports on the modem like I had to with my friend's...
EDIT: Didn't read Shinryuuken_SA2's post above but anyways the modem will probably need forwarding.

I don't get it. I can play on Kaillera but I can't play on GGPO. I have pretty much the same problem as the OP in that I can't actually connect to anyone. I've forwarded the correct ports(as far as I know) on my router, my McAffe firewall and my windows firewall. Any help?

I've played three different people successfully now. Im guessing that its my foes who are not configured properly.
Edit: And now today, i cant connect to anyone again. Is there a way for the software to tell us who is configured properly and who isnt, so we arent guessing if its a problem on our end or not?
Edit: Just double checked to make sure I had a static IP. My router doesnt give the option to specify TCP or UDP when forwarding ports, but everything is as it should be. I am still plauged, as many others seem to be, by the black screen.

Windows FireWall, Norton FireWall, and LinkSys Router have all been configured for GGPO, I have all the software and a working SFA2 rom and yet I get nothing but black screens of death. I honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong.
