I had the Xbox version already, before I bought the Japanese PS2, and was wondering whether it's worth getting what people say is "the closest one to the arcade". It would hurt knowing that I already have one (on Xbox Live too), but it would also feel good if it was close to the arcade version. Can someon give me some info on it that makes it different from the Xbox version? Thanks.
The PS2 version is slightly faster. [/close thread]

3S JP version has accurate replay saves, unlike the crazy US version that spazzs jabs when you watch the replays.

Xbox doesn't mess up replay saves either. Xbox and PS2 are pretty similar. Differences are negligible.

Well, the replay saves don't really matter to me. In other words here are the things that I want to know about the JP PS2 version:
1. Can you skip the versus screen like in the arcade?
2. Does it have the arcade music, or does it have the crappy rap music that they put in the Anniversary Collection?
3. Are the loading times from the versus screen to the match as fast as the arcade version, or faster than the Xbox version (or the American PS2 version)?
4. Is the gameplay arcade perfect, or are there some differences?
That's basically all I want to know. If all of those things are true, them I'm going to get it, because it would resemble the arcade version almost perfectly, except for the fact that it's not on the CPS3 system.
Also, why can't they technically make an ARCADE PERFECT port of most games? Are there some technical things that they can't re-create on the home system, or do they do it on purpose? I've never understood that. I would think that the Xbox is more powerful, and that it would have faster loading times than the arcade, but it doesn't. How can a system (CPS3) from 1997 beat an Xbox from 2001 in terms of speed? Doesn't make sense to me.

No one can direct you to that stuff.

I have both US & JPN PS2 versions. There's no difference whatsoever between the two except the issues with replay saves. If you really want the PS2 version either US or JPN version will be fine. Both of them are pretty cheap.

But how does it compare to the Xbox version (which is the one I have)?

It's the same fucking game, just stick to your Xbox one if you don't want to buy another version of the same game.

Truth.
Seriously, it's the same game.....don't bother wasting your money (unless you really want to).

Ok. :chat: I know it's the exact same game (or else it wouldn't be called 3rd Strike!), but if there was any version closer to the arcade version than what I already have, then I'd buy because I'm totally obsessed with the game.
buy the arcade board, im pretty sure it's 100% accurate to the arcade version

SFIII on DC rocked hahahaaha, but seriously I have the Xbox SFIII (got as a gift) and the JPN PS2 SFIII, they are exactly the same plus both versions have the option of turning on the original music as opposed to the arranged cuts found in the DC version. Hope this helps some bro.

omg, gameplay wise, both versions are the same. dont listen to deathscythe, both are same speed. as for soundtrack, g oto sound option and put it on original for arcade music, theres still rap music tho, so i dunno what else you were expecting.
paying for the ps2 version is a waste if you already got the xb version. unless you got sticks for ps2 version and buddies that come over only have ps2 sticks, then i can understand

they're all the same gameplay wise, but xbox version's sound is a lil messed up.
if you parry alot, sometimes the sound effects wont play, but only for 1 or 2 parries.
no biggie tho.
