The latest rumor section of Electronic Gaming Magazine have new rumors on announced and un-announced titles.


Capcom close to announcing Street Fighter 4. Our best bet is that, this game will be for consoles including the wii. Electronic Arts(EA) is making 2 fighting games. One of them is Marvel Nemesis 2 which is rumored to be in “3D” and will have dark and gritty like Gears Of War . Mortal Kombat sequel, EGM does not specify if this rumor is the already public known next gen Mortal Kombat game for consoles or another new Mortal Kombat game. And finally, New King of Fighters game is heading for the arcades with console releasing following.

Marvel Nemesis 1 was garbage. Neat graphics and presentation with shallow gameplay. Graphics had their problems too with everything being so dark and stale looking, plus the music was lousy.

Hope nemesis 2 is not more of the same trash. As for SF4...whatever i'm not holding my breath for that one.

God no. That series is done. Even Capcom said it was done (like a year after A3 came out, LOL). Alpha 3 is basically Super Turbo and Alpha 2 + other new characters. Alpha 3 is technically the KOF 98 of SF games. It's a dream match with every character we cared about from SF2 and Alpha already in. The whole point of Alpha (or more correctly labeled in Japan as Street Fighter Zero) is that it takes place before even SF1 (or around the same time frame). Storywise having it take place between 2 and 3 wouldn't even make sense. I may be mistaken but that's what I thought the whole point of Alpha/Zero was.

A totally new SF game will allow them to be more innovative instead of trying to cater to a rehashed series. Can't really do much more with that series. None of that continuing old series stuff. I like SF3 but we need something fresh in order for SF to have a chance in the future.

Hori is releasing a Wii fighting stick (it looks pretty sweet). Also, just because it's on the Wii, why do people automatically assume the wiimote will be the only method of playing? For some games, it works. For others, it doesn't. I think Capcom is smart enough to know the difference.

Capcom is already working on Devil May Cry 4, the sequel to Lost Planet, and Resident Evil 5, as AAA tittles.

They are also revamping several tittles such as SF II HD Remix. There is no financial proof that 2D fighters aren't a niche market. The King of Fighters despite being popular is still a small percentage of the fighting game market, thats dominated by Soul series, Tekken, and DOA. Thus they are paying attention to our niche, by giving us HD Remix, Yay! and Puzzle Fighter Yay!. Which will be real cool throwback titles.

At this point in time, they cannot trump SFII, its a classic of classic fighters. And they most likely won't deal with SF4 for a while, because they have to surpass SFIII: Third Strike. The amount of work necesary to trump that are a gazilion frames. Which mind you is doable, however it would most likely take their AAA teams, which are currently busy with the projects above, etc. Next Gen games are expensive and takes alot of man power companies cannot have several teams like before. And when they do, we get crap games, that have seen. Nintendo has publicaly even stated through Miamoto, stop using lower tier developers, or understaffed for creating games on the Wii. If you do that, don't claim that Nintendo is kicking your ass. And hes completely right.

So whats Capcom to do, they cannot put a AAA team, because of the financial risk, despite nostalgia etc, theres no proven userbase, simply because If SF 4 is 2D, then its niche, and will have super expectations, if its 3D, it could be another Street Fighter Ex, which is ok, but not a SF4. They can't make an Alpha, unless they do a HD Remix, due to its original nature.

So whats left for them to do?

Remake SFII yet again, with HD Remix, then test the waters, see if the market is there, SF HF for 360, was a good fire warming, now they are throwing the Alcohol, by using HD Remix. If that flame ignites, then and only then, we will most likely see SF4. If we see it at all.

If SF4 comes before, or in a few weeks such as this thread suggested, its only because of strong fan base support, and that the producer really likes the game, and is confident in it. However aside from his personal feelings, etc, theres a whole money and issues involved. And SF4 can't be released with SF Remix, because they may cannabalize each other sales. Not to mention we got Metroid, KOFXII, SSBB, Halo 3, and GTA 4 coming out in a few months, which would lead to a disparity.

I can only see SF4, announced late this year, a little after Remix, and thats its coming out next year 2008, with Tekken 6, Soul 5, etc etc etc.

I am pretty sure this would make more logical sense, though there could be anomalies, so I am neither wrong or right, merely an analyst. Thanks ;)
