"Bad Luck Sucks" - GGPO Singles [Thursday 7/5]

After tonight, I've learned quite a lot. So to make sure I run an efficient tournament, I have to have more control (with my own mIRC channel instead), more information to the players (provide a live bracket), and be more strict on timing. So now that I try again, let's see if I can do it.

Also, if you're intent on signing up, please make sure that you attend. There were a lot of no shows last time (almost 20 people missing), but also a lot of last minute entries. This time, I'm going to send out PM's to remind players one night before and the day of the tournament.

When: Thursday 7/5; 9:00 PM EST; Confirmations @ 8:45 PM EST
Where: On mIRC @ #ggposecond


Rules/Information
1. Double elimination bracket. Every match-up is 2/3 matches. Grand Finals is 3/5 only, two sets for loser to win.
2. After a match, if there are still more to be played in the set, winner keeps his character, but the loser can switch characters.
3. The tourney channel will be in #ggposecond on mIRC.
4. Please provide both your mIRC name and GGPO so that everyone can find and locate you.
5. If you can't connect with your opponent after quite a few attempts, either go play it out on Kaillera or you guys play RPS best 2/3. You'll be PM'ing me on mIRC for that.
6. If the server crashes/resets, you guys will replay the match.
7. If you have any problems, PM me on mIRC. Don't type it in the channel.


Time Table (All in EST time)
8:30 - Players can start entering #ggposecond.
8:45 - Be in the mIRC room to confirm your entry at this time. If you're last-minute signing up, be in the channel and PM me before 9:00.
9:00 - Tournament Sign-Up's Close @ 8:59. If it's 9:00 and you aren't in the room, you're not entering. I'm dead serious this time.
9:05 - Bracket WILL BE UP. A visual one will be up online for the entire duration of the tournament. At this point, the winner and only the winner will report his victory to me via PM on mIRC.

I've patched a few holes up, so let's see how this one runs.

Macumazah is good shit. Lost to him like 16 times just now. I got a plan for all that fireball throwing next time. Connection was aight too (unlike Azis). LOL. Azis is cool too though. Just sucks when good matches have to be screwed over by delay. Really wish I could play you under a better connection. You seem like you know what you're doing. At least I'm the king of RPS. Against Macumazah, for example, some fireballs dropping frames are like advanced training with the eyes shut, you can't see them... The bad news it that there is nothing we can do, cause the connection is enough, but the distance is the reason to the lag. I´m sorry, I would like to play my maximum too... That's why I mostly play against Brazilians in GGPO.

Maybe you see me in EVO World 2008...

He lost in the first match against lucianocamilo. He should go to the losers and face Hitaro. Then, lucianocamilo lost to hitaro and got out of the champ. He is a very good player, could do a lot better IMO.

I don´t know if JoeKen reported to Acer1236 as the winner of the first match, cause lucianocamilo didn´t have Mirc (in time for the champ) and couldn´t argue, if was the case; OR, if JoeKen just stayed quiet pretending misunderstanding if he was put as the winner. Any of those options means "Bad Game" IMO. He should tell the truth, anyway...

If everyone just used top 3/big 4 then the tournaments would be boring. I'm guessing he was using his Sodom which means suicide against Chun-Li basically. Either way, doesn't matter too much. The tournament ran smoothly.

As for having an IRC client or not, I guess that's luc's fault. I don't know the situation with that but it's pretty easy to even use IRC through a java client or through proxy to break through firewalls at school and whatnot.

But hey, nobody won anything physical so uh... Oh Noes Face? Just a game and a tourney that people showed up to.

I do recall that tournament, but the only people I lost to were tekkaman and you I think. I don't even remember playing a lucianocamilo.
